A world without Francis Vace’s joyful music would be a much different place. Track 2 from his new EP Horses In Real Life, it depicts a scenario in which Twilight has entered the real world and works as a librarian as well as a teacher, giving friendship lessons to any kids who pay attention. Oh, and naturally, she has a thing for you, the listener. Fun times! Vace has a knack for creating incredibly catchy ska tunes with hilarious lyrics, and this is no exception. [P@D] Forest Rain – Chrissy (Nightmare Mode) (feat. Cyril the Wolf and Whirlwind) | Punk Rock
Track 4 from the fresh Ponies at Dawn: Echoes as well as one of the exclusive tracks from the album, Forest Rain appears on the P@D catalogue for the second time with a new version of her song Chrissy! Enlisting the help of Cyril the Wolf and Whirlwind on bass and drums, they’ve all come together to recreate the track, making it feel more in vein of The End of the World. It begins with a new intro featuring spoken word over an organ before jumping right into the song with a new key, stronger drums and truly menacing vocals. To add to that, the rhythm section gets a chance to truly shine, especially Whirlwind, who shows some amazing drum chops in a brief yet memorable drum solo. Easily one of the stand-out tracks on this new release!
[P@D] Thrasher – A Villain’s Descension | Industrial Metal
Thrasher’s back again, this time with a long industrial metal track. Track 41 from the freshly-released Ponies at Dawn: Echoes charity album as well as track 10 from Thrasher’s own upcoming release Welcome to Insanity, he shows off his impressive metal craft with what could easily stand as some of the best metal production this fandom’s ever seen. The guitar and drums simply slice through the mix along with some synths to complete the picture, making this a heavy and intense track based around the villains of Equestria. Welcome To Insanity releases on December 13th.
Atagan – Quest (This Can’t Be All) (Covering BlackGryph0n and Baasik) | Electropop
Agatan’s back on his cover streak, and this one is of BlackGryph0n and Baasik‘s Quest. While the instrumental is the same as the original, Agatan’s smooth vocals breathe new life into the old track about everypony’s favourite newly-winged dragon, Spike. With this being his last planned upload for this year, he’s got some projects planned in the future for 2020. Hopefully they’ll be just as good, if not better than this greatness!
Koron Korak – Missing Part (feat. Hay Tea) | Liquid Drum & Bass
It’s never easy losing a loved one. Serving as a tribute to his late brother, Koron Korak has enlisted the help of Hay Tea to work on this emotional liquid Drum & Bass piece. Interspersed with the melancholy synth hits along with the typical drums you’d expect in a D&B song are calmer sections with no percussion and a violin ringing out with show quotes from Twilight and Fluttershy about saying goodbye. Catharsis through music is always something powerful, and this track is the perfect example for that.
Night Blaze – Theme of the Night Sky | Hybrid Orchestral
Night Blaze is on a roll with their tributes to the now-retired princesses! This one is about Luna, and perfectly captures the feeling of looking at or even wandering about in the night sky! Alongside Night Blaze’s signature orchestral style is the accompaniment of various synths, giving the track an 80s vibe. For the Night!
Radiarc and Frozen Night – Oblivious II | Orchestral
Radiarc and Frozen Night have joined forces to create the sequel to the former’s old track, Oblivious! This also marks Radiarc’s first ever collaboration with another artist. While half the length, it still manages to be epic and emotional all the same. Starting off slow, a soft string and piano riff is the first part to come into play, before building up to a quick pause, a quiet piano bringing everything down to a simmer. Before long though, everything builds up to a crescendo, the familiar piano and strings being joined by powerful percussion sounds, and then eventually simmers down once again. Radiarc can do great things on their own, but it seems like everything becomes better when others are involved!
UndreamedPanic and loophoof – Pony Lady | House
After a year in the works, UndreamedPanic and loophoof have just released an intensely catchy electro track with plenty of bouncy synth chords and vocal chops from the show, including a perfectly timed “Whee!” from Pinkie just before the second drop. One of the chops shows Rarity singing “lady”, fitting perfectly as part of the song’s title. Closing off with a piano riff that fades out as time goes on, this song is everything you could ask for in an electro song!
Steryotype – ThruMyHead | Lo-Fi
Not long after releasing his Lofi Pon EP, Steryotype’s already got another one on the horizon: the ’03 Mini EP, which this track is a part of. As we’ve come to expect from the fandom’s emerging lo-fi scene, this song features the typical elements of a good lo-fi track, particularly the usage of old samples interpolated and edited over a modern hip-hop style drum beat. It hits in all the right places and feels perfect to relax to under a blanket, especially in this weather. ’03 Mini EP will be released soon, so look forward to that!
Power Note – Heavenly Sky | Drum & Bass
A new delightful release by Power Note aka Lorris, this cute DnB tune is showcasing the kind of melodic aspect that I love to hear in his works. Lead synths are complementing each other so well in the progression of this track, and the title Heavenly Sky is quite fitting considering the soothing and bright vibes!
