SpinScissor – Father of Forever | Experimental

Like its name suggests, “Father of Forever” by SpinScissor strikes a very eternal and introspective vibe. It’s an experimental electronic track which fully explores a variety of unique sounds, with glitches, harsh synths, and crazy modulations. At times, it sounds like a house track with its strong kick and snare click, and this contrasts the existential musings of the lyrics. Spin’s smooth vocals decorate the track, both in the foreground but also in the background, soaked with delay, reverb, and panning automation to build up its eerie texture. There’s also a spoken word section which breaks down the broken relationship between Sweetie Bot and her maker.

This is only the first track of SpinScissor’s Sweetie Bot themed EP which released this year, so make sure to check that out for more sound design goodness!

Thrack – Start the Show (Feat. Jesh PK) [2024] | Pop Rock

A release from earlier this year, Thrack’s “Start the Show” is a warm and lovely song capturing Sunny’s spirit. It is structured like a pep talk to her self, with the lyrics mentioning her pushing through adversary to spread her message, with the chorus cleverly giving a nod to the movie’s own number, “gonna be my day.” Thrack’s voice is accompanied by Jesh PK’s vibrant piano and Thrack’s own guitar playing and sweetly soft drumming. This one’s sure to bring you happy vibes!

Frozen Night – Fragmenting | Orchestral

Frozen Night’s newest album, Time’s Arrow, is finally here with the release of “Fragmenting” the album’s concluding track.  It begins with softly sustained, ambient tones suggesting moments before dawn cracks the sky.  Soon, it blossoms into passionate violins sawing back and forth with metronomic precision amidst tolling bells, warning of time’s unrelenting and unstoppable passage.  This thoughtful piece brings resolution at the end, giving a sense of a long chapter finally closed but leaving a blank canvas ready for the next great chapter to be written.

Drixale – The world to burn (VIP) | Pop

Sinister. Sadistic. Evil. These are not the words normal ponies associate with MLP, but Drixale’s Opaline themed track strikes that dark vibe perfectly, matching Opaline’s quest to become a fire-alicorn. The track opens with a mellow, high pitched synth taunting you before jumping in to an entrancing bass line with sharp, piercing claps. The deep, low vocals bring out the terrifying energy of its lyrics about nightmares, power, obsession, and of course, the world burning. This beat will definitely haunt you on your way through your fandom adventures.

It’s time to get cider-tipsy and take rawrity’s newest single for a “spin”. Consisting of all the elements we’ve come to know rawrity’s hits for, “spin” makes great use of simple and catchy melodies, accentuating pony chops, and the chill yet emotional vibe that defines her style. rawrity’s displays some creative rhymes in the lyrics as she describes the disorientation that comes from deep infatuation that are sure to make you spin!

RedSpark – Puppetmaster | Hybrid Orchestral

If there’s one thing that I absolutely adore, it’s when musicians mix electronic and orchestral elements for their song, like a Romeo & Juliet in music. And if there is anyone whom I’ve seen consistently produce bangers with this forbidden mix of elements, it’s RedSpark. Keeping a consistent, electronic-type bassline throughout the song, this song has all the energy that you’d expect for a typical electronic song, but it is the orchestral break that translate into a melody after the rise that keeps me listening. Keep doing what you do RedSpark!

Blackened Blue – Stranger Changer | Alt Rock

Blackened Blue’s first release this year is a peppy rock song with a message about power dynamics, facades, and corruption, all loosely connected to the metaphor of seeing through a changeling’s disguise. The guitars and bass form a warm texture with the extra crisp drums delivering the punch. The guitar solo in the second half kicks some serious tail, and when it drops out, it’ll leave you with a powerful feeling of emptiness. It’s a great track overall; keep up the good work!

Rosace Pony – Memories | House

A master of peaceful vibes, Rosace Pony is back with an Autumn Blaze-inspired track. “Memories” utilizes high strings and Kirin dialogue over a simple, spacey instrumental to create a soundscape you can easily close your eyes and get lost in. Electric drums and an oscillating bass line add some groove to really help you feel the memories.

SpinScissor – Love Is in the Air | Electro Pop

If there is any musician that can create a catchy instrumental for their music, it’s SpinScissor, and this song is one of those earworm melodies. This track opens with Spin using extremely heavy autotune, which I don’t remember him ever doing to that high of a degree. In fact, most of the singing styles that Spin used feels unique compared to what Spin usually does; I honestly cannot remember a time where he added grittiness to his singing as well. This just adds not only to the edginess of the track and it’s theme, but is a testament to Spin’s already incredible singing talents.
