4everfreebrony – Applejack (Kenny Wayne Shepherd Parody) | Country Rock

(Listen to “Blue on Black” Here)
Applejack, The strongest earth pony in Equestria. The realist pony to talk to about life. A pony thats tougher than a 2$ steak, but packs the muscle to get the job done. AJ, like it or not, is an awesome character. But can a song about her say that better? How about some soulful country rock? Leave it to the man that can do it all musically. 4everfreebrony. He takes Kenny Wayne Shepherd “Blue on Black” and ponifide’s it into a preview single of his upcoming parody album. The song frankly hits applejack right to her core as a character. The lyrics are simple but sound. The transition of the melodies in this is smooth and clean. Specially the guitar solos that are done spot on from the original and adds the rock elements to this smooth country flavor. This song is a goodie for all you Applejack lovers out there. As always, this Qilin asks you to judge for yourself.

Acouste Wholenote – Stuck | Pop Punk

Acouste Wholenote returns with a song about Roseluck, a song in which the lyrics speak a story of persistence. This rustic alternative piece reminds me a ton of some of the older rock music in this community’s history. That and the melancholic sound consequently makes this song abundantly nostalgic for me. Blue emotions bleed through easily with this bittersweet pop-punk piece, and I do hope that Acouste Wholenote makes more music in the weeks to come.

Quicksilver – Not The Same | Hardcore Punk

Quicksilver charges back onto the scene with his first solo song in nearly a year, Not The Same! Just under a minute in length, this story about Moondancer takes off at full blast and doesn’t let up until the end. He sings with raw power and conviction in front of a heavy punk instrumental with elements of ska thrown in for a nice change of pace. Pony punk is always a treat!

StableTwoStallion & Koron Korak – Twi and Rares do a Jam | Industrial Metal

This collab has a unique approach, as you’ll need to watch this with two videos playing at the same time! Twi and Rares do a Jam depicts a scenario where they’re set to perform on stage, with their voices provided by 15.ai. Once they’re done talking, a short but heavy instrumental plays, showing off Stable‘s signature metal style with some electronic additions from Koron Korak. Even as a light-hearted April Fools day gag, it sounds pretty great!

Maressey – Stretch Out and Wait/Reel Around the Fountain | Post-Punk

Tracks 8 and 9 from The TwiLuna Album are bundled together in this video from Maressey. Stretch Out and Wait is performed by Warbalist and is sung from Luna’s perspective, depicting a scenario where Twilight reflects on her relationship with Luna deeply, while the latter simply tells her to loosen up and enjoy the moment. Warbalist’s vocals capture Morrissey’s dreary singing style with flying colours. The next track, Reel Around The Fountain, is performed by project leader Freewave with vocals from Metal Mare. This one is from Twilight’s eyes, where she finally comes to terms with her love for Luna. Metal Mare’s vocals soar beautifully in front of the somber instrumental, lead by tight rhythm section and a clean guitar. These two tracks are a lovely pair!

I’ll never get tired of such blissful rock covers, extending the feeling from the movies! m2the3rd – Belong (feat. Koron Korak) | Soft Rock

Remember Terramar from Surf And/Or Turf? m2the3rd’s latest song is about his struggle of choosing which land and parent to live in. The dry land with his father, or the wet underworld with his mother? The soft sounds of water can be heard behind the soft music, mainly consisting of his truly melancholy voice, soft piano keys and violin, the latter of which was provided by the multi-talented Koron Korak. There’s a noticable 80s influence here, from the production to the vocals. I’m sure some of us have gone through a similar situation at some point in our lives.
