Warning: Explicit lyrics
PrinceWhateverer explores the softer (at least by his standards), emotional world of pony breakups. Based off of the Marble Pie-Big McIntosh stirrup from “Best Gift Ever”, Are You There explores Marble’s inner anguish over the situation. The verses are characterized by soft guitars, leaving the somber vocals to drive the emotion before the drums and guitars come in more prominently for a more enraged chorus. The back and forth between the soft, sadness and controlled anger, tied together with moving guitar riffs allow PW to show off his musical, emotional range.
Rock
Rockin’Brony – Open Your Eyes (covering Aviators) | Soft Rock
The immensely talented Rockin’Brony comes through with an exceedingly well-done cover of Aviators’ fandom classic, Open Your Eyes! With some flourishes to enhance the cover, an increased electric guitar presence, and a subtle and ethereal synthesizer at the song’s climax, the cover is very much in the spirit of the original while adding Rockin’Brony’s flavor to make it his own.
[ASOS] Reverbrony – Wondrous Darkness | Post-Rock
Reverbrony’s talents have at last arrived to A State of Sugar! A fitting ode to the Princess of Night, this tune is incredibly true to the artist’s name and laden with reverb to a calming yet transcendental effect. The art by Duskie-06 couldn’t be a more perfect fit and the guitar work on this track is nothing short of outstanding!
A State Of Sugar – Ice Cream | Compilation Album | Various Genres
NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 24 December 2018.
A State Of Sugar are back with their 4th compilation album, full of a heap of awesome music from a bunch of fantastic musicians! Predominantly sweet electronic tunes, there’s also some orchestral influence and a few rock/metal pieces as well. Check it out for free or a donation over on Bandcamp here!
Osoch – One More Day (Covering Daniel Ingram) | Metal
To celebrate the holiday season, Osoch has graced us with a high-charged, metal version of One More Day from the “Best Gift Ever” special. He orchestrates the instrumental around the vocals from the show and does so very well! The guitars are crisp and pack a punch while the drums drive the beat very well (and impress with powerful double kicks at times!). Of course it wouldn’t be holiday music without some violins which Osoch uses as the perfect accent to bring everything together!
Remember Falling – Until Then | Synth-Rock
Remember Falling (f.k.a. Sights Unseen) has released her first album under her new alias, Monolith, along with a video for its single! With simultaneously dark and uplifting lyrics performed passionately and an instrumental that changes courses multiple times, this tune defies convention and genre. Don’t skip this one if you’re into genre-bending stuff!
Rockin’Brony – Open Up Your Eyes (2018 Redux) (Covering Daniel Ingram) | Symphonic Metal
Here we go for another up-to-date cover from Rockin’Brony, showcasing such vocal talent as well as a complete Symphonic Metal rearrangement of the epic and emotional Open Up Your Eyes! Much emotion to be had once more in this splendid cover, amping up the power of the chorus with blissful guitars, strings, and vocals from Rockin’Brony!
Rockin’Brony – For The New Lunar Republic (Covering Not A Clever Pony) | Symphonic Metal
Bronycon’s master shredder goes old school in this intense tribute to a legendary fandom classic! Keeping close to iamnotacleverpony’s dramatic, orchestral opening, Rockin’ introduces his own intense flavor of metal guitar riffs about a minute into the track. While staying true to the original For the New Lunar Republic, this cover is very much its own style and take, utilizing an 80s synth and refreshing bass nicely throughout the track. Of course, no Rockin’Brony track is complete without a mind-blowing guitar solo and ever-intensifying drums! Make sure to check this song out for a powerful trip down memory lane!
PrinceWhateverer – Not Letting Go (Redux) (feat. Poni1Kenobi, MantaTsubasa & Scrambles) | Metal
Another classic from PrinceWhateverer, this time he and the crew are singing about Fluttershy! Not Letting Go is a group collaboration dealing with the concepts of low self-esteem and self-idealization from the point of view of the beloved yellow pegasus. MantaTsubasa takes over vocals for a verse, using her talents to tell Fluttershy’s feelings from the first person point of view, and P1K and CGScrambles fill in beautifully on vocal harmonies.
The Shake Ups In Ponyville – Saddle Up and Go | Power Pop
Anoher YouTube release from the Ponymania album, this one sure brings the delightful Classic Rock vibes along the signature tribute to the Beatles, this time combined with a tribute to everyone’s favorite cowgirl! The vocals are so blissful and the whole song is so catchy, definitely another powerful release from The Shake Ups!
