Crusader! – You Can Always Come Back | Folk / Country

Another song with a deep theme, this new release from Crusader truly gives off such a fiting countryside musical mood as it takes on what the Apple family must have felt while Applejack traveled to Manehattan in her youth (as depicted in S01E23 The Cutie Mark Chronicles). Expect honest vocals and an awesome performance on the acoustic guitar, banjo and harmonica!

Outside the Day – Chrysalis will Rise | Hardcore Punk

More badapple anthems incoming! Getting onto the Changeling Kingdom’s gig stage, Outside the Day performs a quite awesome Hardcore Punk song under Queen Chrysalis’ guidance to celebrate the execution of her malicious plan in the S6 finale. I can just imagine the audience of Changelings celebrating and cheering to the song along the mighty vocals!

Ponysphere – Blackened Heart | Trash Metal

A delightful treat for all the metal ponies out there, Ponysphere delivers in full force a Trash Metal track centered around the darkness of a Shadowbolt’s heart. It is adding much depth to both the obscure gang from S1 and Scootaloo as an alternative storyline unfolds along mighty vocals and a masterful instrumental, in the purest metal spirit. Keep rocking my brethren! |¯|

[P@D] Thrasher – Orbit (Brilliant Venture Remix) | Metalstep

Thrasher’s song Orbit from the last P@D album was already one of my favourites, Vylet’s vocal edit was great too. And we’re keeping that train of production rolling with Brilliant Venture’s Remix, which combines the awesome guitar riffs of the original with Brill’s (somewhat) newfound sound design skills. Two different paces too – full time breakbeat for the first drop and half time dubstep in the second – always a decent little switchup for any ~140bpm song.

[P@D] Night Crow & Thrasher – Back To Ourselves | Trancecore

Well this was a pleasant surprise. Night Crow and Thrasher last teamed up on last year’s Awakening from the Ponies At Dawn collective, and now they’re back together again for Amity. Here, synths meet guitar once again, with beats and arps reminiscent of (what I remember off the top of my head of) early 00s trance.

[P@D] Plum Creek Rhythm Section – Handbag (covering Replacer) / Dashtortion – Through The Snow | Alt. Rock

Two more P@D songs for you today! First up is this rather mellow cover of Replacer’s song Handbag done by Plum Creek Rhythm Section – so a combination of two artists whose songs on the P@D albums are consistently some of my favourites. And the intro totally doesn’t remind me of The Pretender

And to follow, a new track from Dashtortion, which isn’t actually a solo artist, but instead a collab between StealingShad3Z and SlightlyAmiss, whose work you may remember from the last P@D album. A bit more uptempo, but still relatively chill (haha see what I did there) song with Shining Armor / Cadence themed lyrics.

[P@D] ExplodingPonyToast – Skywards (Reverbrony Remix) | Metal

For those of you who have been following the P@D albums for a while now, EPT’s song Skywards might ring a bell. Well now we now have a metal remix (something I only seems to see on compilation albums) of it from Reverbrony. It keeps up the tempo of the original while bringing a whole new soundscape to which the chords and melodies are added.

[P@D] Francis Vace – Walls (covering Flak & NewPatrol) | Rock

This totally not confusingly-titled song by Francis Vace is…well, as it says in the thumbnail, a cover of NewPatrol’s remix of Flak’s song Walls. So kinda hitting 2 birds with one stone in terms of the specifications of the latest Ponies At Dawn album. Not only that, but it combines Vace’s 3 main styles of punk, ska and, more recently, metal. Really hitting all those birds, poor things…

4everfreebrony & Luna Jax – Back To You | Soft Rock

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 15 January 2017.

Luna Jax and 4everfreebrony teaming up is a pretty awesome combination! With Jax’s strong vocals and a really nice instrumental it starts up brilliantly. 4everfreebrony’s vocals come in later on, and work just as well. A pretty soft and relaxing track, it wonderfully tells the story of Celestia and Luna’s reunion after Luna’s banishment to the moon ended.

Francis Vace – Hope Shines Eternal (covering Daniel Ingram) | Reggae

Part of his recent Everfree EP, Francis Vace has covered the ending credits song from Legend of Everfree in a reggae style, something we only see on occasion. The style really fits the song though, and has a nice blend of reggae with Francis’ signature ska style too.
