One of my personal top favorites from Amity, Windigos is a stunning blend of Metal and Orchestral, and incidentally or not, it is by masters of the genres Elias Frost and Jyc Row respectively. For this one, Elias composed an almighty instrumental using many instruments like the mandolin, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, and even flute, going all-out and delivering many emotional wonders over an incredible progression. The flute is especially one of my weaknesses here, and it really does amazing things throughout the soft yet powerful instrumental. Another of the elements I love the most about this masterpiece has got to be the vocals. Jyc Row‘s outstanding Metal vocals are proving once again to be insanely epic, and fill the song with a power full of the spirit of rock music and charisma. The backing vocals from Elias are also adding so much emotion to the song. In the last vocal part of the track in particular, the extended backing vocals blending with Jyc’s lead vocals in perfect unisson, has got to be the most emotional and intense part of the song for me, providing vocal melodic bliss and extra Folk vibes, for a masterful finale of divine power. I’m getting teary-eyed again while writing this, you guys are awesome, keep it up, I love you :’)

[P@D] Frozen Night – Crystal Tears (feat. ForeverFreest) | Orchestral Metal
Frozen Night, aka the master of emotional Orchestral Metal who made many gorgeous instrumental pieces, teamed up with fabulous vocalist ForeverFreest to create this masterpiece and token of Amity. Deep strings and piano, epic drums and guitar, beautiful and resonant vocals, and even choruses pile up in a lovely progression to tell a moving tale in a powerful musical format. An amazing job, and another proof that two in harmony surpasses one in perfection!
SlightlyAmiss & GuitarBrony13 – Mirage | Punk Rock
A rocking collaboration of shimmering wonders, SlightlyAmiss and GuitarBrony13 bring all the powerful riffs and the Punk vocals in this tribute to best pony from the EQG movies. Just imagine this being performed at some gig hall in Equestria! A mighty job and song from the musicians, be sure to show them your support!
[P@D] bank pain & Thrasher – Searchlights Over Canterlot | Metal Neurofunk
Pendulum meets Noisia anyone? Or perhaps something straight from an album by The Qemists (thanks Sky Runner for reminding me about them!) This contribution to Amity comes from the producers of two of my favourite songs from the last P@D album. Thrasher’s used to combining metal guitars and electronic sounds, but this might be a first for bank – nonetheless the blend of metal and dnb is seamless. I hope we get to see more of this kind of thing from these two artists in the future!
MetalPony – Do Better | Metalcore
MetalPony has been on the rise for quite some time now, and this new song is quite the masterpiece! With a deep and meaningful inspiration and theme, it expresses much in pure Metal spirit with a heavy instrumental blessed by amazing drums, bass and guitar performance. The vocals have got to be my favorite aspect of this track though, and both the heavy and the soft vocal parts are a bliss. Keep it up, MetalPony!
Elias Frost – Winter Wrap Up (Covering Daniel Ingram) | Folk Metal
Elias Frost treats us with a new cover of a show song, and this time it’s Winter Wrap Up from S1, forever a classic! The very energetic nature of the song is blending well with this Folk Metal cover full of spirit, and the guitar performance sounds both kind and strong, while the awesome Finnish vocals pay much tribute to the original. A Russian instrument called the zhaleika was also expertly used to bring more Folk vibes, and it is the icing on the cake!
Denz Xavier – Hero’s Flight | Progressive Rock
We don’t often get something that resembles the good ol’ Progressive Rock from the 70s/80s, and I would be tempted to label this Neo-Prog but there’s just some sweet, blissful Classic Rock vibe to it that can’t help making me feel nostalgic. This track has just the right sound, creative values, melodic structure, and progression, to make it an outstanding instrumental piece from the artist that is definitely a delight for Prog Rock fans like me. In Prog We Trust! (who’s going to this year’s festival?)
Maressey – You Just Haven’t Earnet It Yet | Indie Rock
Maressey present us another tribute to The Smiths’ music in pony form, and this one should prove to be a very relatable track for many musicians who aim at the top! Genuine and beautiful guitar play, blissful bass and drums, and honest vocals all bring to this track that lovely Indie Rock vibe, and convey well the theme!
Horse Music Hotspot – January 2017

Hey, so, sorry we weren’t able to let you know about this in advance of the live airing, but we have a new timeslot for the Horse Music Hotspot. It’ll still air on the last Sunday of each month, but at 9pm UTC (4pm EST) instead of 10pm EST – perhaps a much more accessible time of day for most of you.
New Year, new Ponies at Dawn album (yes, already!), from which we feature a few tracks this month, but with plenty of other music from various artists too! Now with seemingly more dnb than ever before, and some fantastic collaborations and remixes.
To listen in live, tune in to Ponyville FM at 4PM Eastern on the last Sunday of each month!
Tracklist and embeds available after the break
[P@D] SDreamExplorerS – Let The Sun Rise (Covering Morgsch & Itchigotchi) | Metal
A much welcome and awesome cover from SDreamExplorerS aka Soul Strings, this piece of Amity shines with force, as lovely guitar melodies and heavy riffs unfold for an amazing result. Itchigotchi’s original vocals are still present, and stand alongside SDreamExplorerS’ mighty Metal vocals for a delightful contrast.
