Daniel Ingram – Friends Are Always There For You (syzygy. Remix) | Melodic Dubstep

syzygy. continues his streak of brilliant remixes with his take on one of the more recent show songs—this time opting for a lush, supersaw-laden style. Between squishy leads and gated chords, this remix provides an all-new instrumental frame while keeping the vocal arrangement intact, thus departing from the traditional two-drop-structure we’ve all come to expect. Instead, all the transitions play off of the vocals wonderfully, and you’re rewarded with a sweet orchestral outro if you keep listening until the end. Complete with interesting bits and pieces of sound design throughout the entire track and a fair attention to detail, syzygy’s remix definitely gives the more popular remixes of Friends Are Always There For You a run for their money.

The song is available as a free download from mediafire, so make sure to add it to your collection!

Ataraxia – Six Stars | Piano Solo

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 25 March 2017.

Another new track from Ataraxia’s recently released album Eternal Perfect Motion, this is a continuing example of how great he is at producing piano-centric pieces. This one is a lot more upbeat than the last couple, and makes some great use of heavy piano chord hits whilst dancing around wonderfully. There are also some subtle strings that come in at times. Give it a listen for some Twilight-flavoured piano!

Francis Vace – Cold Feet Pt. II | Ska Rock

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 25 March 2017.

Francis Vace has been uncharacteristically quiet recently, but that’s because he has a new album coming out very soon, called The Old Mare And The Sea! This is the first release from the album, and is a follow up of sorts to a track he wrote some time ago called Cold Feet. His voice shines here, with some great vocal melodies especially in the chorus, which is super catchy. There’s also some classic ska horns as well for those who dig that stuff as much as I do.

Redstone Brony – Risen | Progressive House

While I do think the Redstone’s mixing needs work (perhaps the choice of kick too if I’m being picky), I’m loving the classic prog house style melodies and synths he’s constructed and used in this piece. Room for improvement often means an artist can only get better though, so they’re definitely one to watch for future releases.

Sonic Hooves – Whisper of the Wind | Piano Solo

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 23 March 2017.

I go through a lot of music in my life, and whilst I do of course love hearing all the fancy stuff people are able to put together, sometimes it’s just nice to relax and listen to something that’s about as stripped back as it gets. Piano music like this, no bells and whistles, not even recorded especially well, just played from the heart with obvious skill and passion, is one of the simple pleasures in life. Sonic Hooves truly has a talent for composition, so please do check it out and find something to get lost in.

MC-Arch – I Stand Here | Hip-Hop

Some incredibly heartfelt lyrics and vocal delivery in this one, MC-Arch gives us a song about internal struggles, dealing with the lack of support from others, and finding support with his fans. With a solid rap performance, a lot of themes are touched on in these thoughtful lyrics that a short description couldn’t hope to live up to. Check it out for yourself!

Seventh Element – Sensational! | Acid House

Pony acid house? Pony acid house! I wasn’t expecting this either to be honest, but Seventh’s musical interest seems to span many, many genres. This song is part of his upcoming album, Ponies on Acid, filled with plenty more acid synths and 303 beats to meet your old-school production needs (Interior Design for Horses is a particular favourite of mine).

StrachAttack – Black Magic VIP ft. NekoWolf (Silver Fenix Remix) | Trap

We’re a little late with this one, but it’s still great to see some new faces in the music scene. Having been a brony for several years and now with a couple of years practice in production under his belt, Silver Fenix is beginning to release his own pony music, starting with this remix of Strach’s Black Magic VIP. I’m sure it would have found its way onto Strach’s remix EP from a while back had it been released sooner, but there’ll be plenty more opportunities for us to see Silver Fenix’s work featured in the future. Go subscribe to him if you like this sort of thing, he’s already released a fair few other tracks!

Stallionslaughter – Vengeance of Tirek (Redux) | Metal

Tirek is out for vengence in this remake of Stallionslaughter’s first release. With some heavily distorted guitar riffs and low growls, we get some surprisingly clean delivery, with some well written, and executed lyrics. This dumbass knows not to cup the mic! I also appreciate the added effort into the lyric video, with some entertaining lip-syncing, and his son dancing in the background XD! A simply idea, but still makes for a better experience vs still images. Give it a listen 🙂

Celestial Throne ft. Elias Frost – A Tale Of The Frustrated Housemare | Folk Metal

It looks like Cadence has a drinking problem XD! Well at least that’s the theme to this song. Celestial Throne gives us a humorous metal song about a frustrated house mare. I guess the life of a Princess, mother, and wife can be rather stressful! Featuring some familiar names in the brony metal scene with vocals by Elias Frost and mixing by Ponysphere.  With a chugging guitar rhythm and some catchy lyrics that follow the beat, it has a bit of a pub vibe to it similar to Alestorm for those familiar with them. Not bad for his first venture into lyric writing, and I hope to see more from him in the future!
