Ethan Toavs – Starcatcher, The Magnificent | Orchestral

Ethan Toavs presents us with another wonderful orchestral composition, this one based on the G3 pony Starcatcher! The piece begins with a majestic fanfare before springing into a lively solo played by an instrument most of us have never heard before, the Bulgarian kaval! The middle section is my favorite however—every instrument drops out suddenly to reveal a celesta playing over a dreamy, barely audible choral ‘ahhhh’. It’s absolutely gorgeous before picking back up into a triumphant brass finale!

SOUND BANDIT – FUN TO PRETEND | Plunderphonics

NB: Re-upload

SOUND BANDIT is back with another G3 inspired song accompanied by a pony music video! This dreamy track begins with the soft and lovely sound of an upright piano before jumping in to a gorgeous section with synths that sparkle and a warm bass. The melody is entirely comprised of vocal chops, heavily featuring the voices of several G3 ponies like Storybelle, Star Flight, and Heart Bright. There’s so much creative sampling using yawns, buzzing insects, gasps, and laughs to create a sound so absolutely adorable that it just might convince you to fall in love with G3. Fantastic work!

Thrack – Life Among the Stars | Acoustic

Thrack’s latest work is a lovely tune about ponies venturing into outer space of all places! While their journey might be cold, the warmth of Thrack’s acoustic guitar and gorgeous three part harmony is surely enough to live by. And who can turn down a couple of jolly mandolin solos? In addition to all the feel-good lyrics of friendship and camaraderie, there’s also some more mischievous undertones. Did they really leave Equestria in a “wreck”? I pray to Celestia they didn’t, but who knows what will happen next if they succeed in finding life among the stars.

El Nulevoe – Power Metal Carton Horse 2: The Powering | Power Metal

CW: plenty of explicit lyrics

Okay, so El Nulevoe is back with a sequel to his “Power Metal Carton Horse”, aptly named “Power Metal Carton Horse 2: The Powering.” It’s an epic story of the protagonist as he races to warn Princess Celestia of incoming attacks from both King Sombra and Nightmare Moon! The energy level of the track is so high that you’ll be thrashing as hard as you’re laughing with its insane guitar riffs and irreverent lyrics about this “brave hero, whatever his name is.” There’s plenty of witty wordplay throughout, and it even breaks the fourth wall, adding to the humor. It ends with an amazing guitar solo, but is it enough for our hero to succeed? Make sure to tune in to find out!

Vylet Pony – Carousel (An Examination of the Shadow, Creekflow, and its Life as an Afterthought) | Multi-Genre Album

Over half a year in the making, and actualizing concepts from the last five years, Vylet Pony’s new album is jaw-dropping, awe-inspiring, and breathtaking. It is an album shroud in mystery as its narrative follows the protagonist and their shadow through a plethora of genres, each track morphing seamlessly into the next, starting with heavenly soundscapes before descending into darkness and death, only to turn around and ascend back to its harmonious beginnings. Much of the story is incomplete, and the listener is invited to theorize more about it. Throughout the album you’ll hear samples from previous Vylet songs, the classic “Sing a song about life” clip, as well as a new carousel motif.

EveryDayDashie – Pony Mission Voyage | World

EveryDayDashie’s “Pony Mission Voyage” sounds just like the name suggests—it’s a rhythmic adventure taking the listener across a vast number of soundscapes, each inspired by a different tradition! In it, you’ll hear many different folk instruments like sitars and xylophones mixed with orchestral and brass hits. There’s even some synths snuck in here and there, with a dubstep-like section in the middle that blends its bass with the other folk instruments, creating a unique sound. Of course, it wouldn’t be EveryDayDashie without a few melodic MLP references to complete the track. Fantastic work!

Daniel Ingram – Awesome As I Wanna Be [NAMII Cover] | Pop-Punk

Namii’s first track of the new year is a rocking pop-punk cover of “Awesome As I Wanna Be” from Rainbow Rocks. With Namii’s spectacular performance, its tight production, and the creative background vocals, its energy is so high that Namii might have even outdone Rainbow Dash as she teases in a new original verse, “move so slick you’ll lose your god damn mind!” And luckily, Sunset Shimmer didn’t think to sabotage her, allowing us all to enjoy this heck of a banger!

RosePoni Roseluck – Princess of the Night (NeighGative_’s “Day of Reckoning” Mix) | Trance

NeighGative_’s remix of RosePoni Roseluck’s “Princess of the Night” is a adventure full of twists and turns! In its epic, near seven-minute duration, the piece takes us on a journey through a multitude of different sections, each with its own unique sound and character, keeping the listener hooked! At times, it is dark, groovy, and focused with its synths, only to give way to a new section that’s elegant, introspective, and hopeful, backed by gorgeous strings. Then it turns to something energetic and intense, with its synth stabs and wubbing bass. Throughout, you’ll hear the same Luna chops that RosePoni used in the original—they complement the piece so well as the different aspects of Luna’s character match the sections of the track! The piece eventually comes full circle and returns to its original section before closing out with the scratching sounds of a record stop. Overall, it’s breathtaking, so make sure to give this a listen through!

Proto_ssin & GrazySmash – Depth pt. II (feat. Koa) [Ice Angel Remix] | Dubstep

Ice Angel’s remix of Depth pt. II begins with the lush tones of piano and Koa’s voice reverberating to create an ethereal space. But don’t let that fool you—as the drums and orchestra come in, it all builds up to when the electrifying drop hits. Here, the heavier dub rhythms blend nicely with the ethereal pads, still floating effortlessly above. The track then interludes with the sound of rainfall and xylophone-like bells before a four-on-the-floor bass drum delivers us to the track’s intense climax.

MC-Arch & PrinceWhateverer – Yay on! (feat. Drummershy, BlackenedBlue, SnugBugVA & Namii) | Rock / Hip Hop

MC-Arch and PrinceWhateverer’s first track of the new year is a collaboration powerhouse featuring not only these two legends, but also Drummershy, BlackenedBlue, SnugBugVa, and Namii! The track begins with mellow e-piano vibes and the incredible rapping talent of MC-Arch. Then a minute in, the electric guitars kick in, along with a couple of chiptune-esque synths and a drum feature, creating an incredible cross-genre texture unique to this song. My favorite bit though is the duet between MC-Arch and PrinceWhateverer singing, “You deserve love.” It’s simply gorgeous and a fantastic message to everypony listening!

This track will be featured on the third installment of “You got me, I go us”, so make sure to check that out when it drops later this year.
