Gryphon Rush – Born On The Rock Farm | Album | Rock

Russian band Gryphon Rush releases their debut album that is one great mix of well performed old-school hard rock!

The production quality on the album is very good, good enough for a hard rock album! Focusing on a dedication to the brony fandom, Gryphon Rush’s vocalist, Lynch transfers a great energy to the songs, the guitar riffs also done by Lynch are also well performed. Abadakus’s mixing and mastering, gives to the album that production quality that I’ve tell you before. The drums performance done by Wave is also very good, giving the good rhythm to the album. This also plus the mix with songs sung in English and songs sung in Russian make this album an international masterpiece, putting once again the Russian pony music scene to the top! As rock listener this album have various genres that fans of Iron Maiden, Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, Queen, Led Zeppelin, The Yardbirds and Lynyrd Skynyrd will love it! The album is available on YouTube in full version or in separate tracks. Also you have the full thing for download on bandcamp!

You can download the album on Gryphon Rush’s Bandcamp page, or you can stream the album as a whole or track-by-track on their YouTube channel.

Viricide Filly – Back From Reality | Album | Electronic

FINALLY! After 3 years of hard work and production, British musician Viricide Filly releases her 5th album. Bringing us a mix of incredible textures and melodies that are really inspiring and incredible, making the album worth more than just 1 listen! Really, listen to this album more than 5 times! Because this is really amazing!

Now, what I can say about this amazing masterpiece? First, Viricide’s robotic vocals in songs like “Stuck In The Sky” (available on video) are very well mix with the instrumental and the lyrics of the songs are also quite awesome! Second, I love a lot Viricide’s experiments at each track, the intro track is well performed, and also the experiments at “Vanishing Point” (available on Cider Party) are really incredible and gives an atmospheric look to the track. Third, this album actually tells a story about Viricide’s OC, Eleanor, making a great and inspiring concept album.

I recommend this album to everyone, without exceptions! Also, listen to this more than 5 times, please! Give Viricide the feedback that she deserves for her 3 years hard work!

You can download the album from Viricide’s Bandcamp or stream the whole thing on YouTube.

Ponies At Dawn – Guardians | Compilation Album | Multi-Genre

I wish I could sum up how awesome the songs on this album in a short concise review. Buuut not only are there too many songs to even scratch the surface of this album, but I think the album stream is still going on!

To be honest, there are even some names on here that I don’t recognise myself – and of course some names that everyone will recognise. That’s one of the best things about these albums: not only do you get some of everyone’s favourites, but you can find a chance to discover brand new musicians doing all kinds of different genres, with more than enough creativity to go around.

Guardians is available to download from the P@D Bandcamp for any given price.

Various Artists – Horse Music Central Vol. 3 | Compilation Album | Multi-Genre

You may remember the two previous albums released by the crew over at Horse Music Central, their last one being released at Christmas with a distinct wintry theme. Now the regulars of the big musicians’ Discord server have another release to offer. Although no specific theme this time, it features some of the more underground artists, as well as a few classic long-running musicians.

I swear I’m getting slowly worse and worse at these writeups

SDreamExplorerS – Erasing the Enigma | Album | Metal

The Belarussian artist and a hot name in the brony metal music scene SDreamExplorerS, also known as Soul Strings, bring us an album that is mostly inspired by the Swedish Death Metal movement.

The artist on the album description on YouTube says that Swedish Death Metal (Melodic especially) has inspired him to do this album, especially “The Jester Race” by In Flames. As a metal listener, I certainly could hear the “In Flames” influence on this album, particularly on the track “The First Alicorn” that is available on video. This album has incredible riffs, good percussions and great production quality – one of the great qualities I’ve ever listened on the Soul Strings’ discography. The mix between the well performed screams and the low pitched clean vocals are the best part of the album, you will love it. If you are into old-school In Flames, At The Gates, Amon Amarth or Children of Bodom you will certainly like this album! My Little Pony and Old-School Swedish Death Metal – a great mixture of textures and sounds that Soul Strings will give you if you listen to this masterpiece!

Erasing The Enigma is available to download on bandcamp and the whole thing is also available on YouTube.

Francis Vace – The Old Mare And The Sea | Album | Rock

BETTER👏LATE👏THAN👏NEVER

Shortly before we started the Horse Music Herald, Francis Vace released his first full album (of his current discography that hopefully won’t be deleted from Bandcamp any time soon) – Lost In A Pastel Hue. Now (okay, a couple of months ago) the time has come for a second full-length release. In a similar vein, The Old Mare And The Sea contains a variety of styles, draws from a few different influences, and contains solo work, collabs, and covers. We start off with upbeat pop-punk and ska solo pieces, followed by a long string of collaborative works and covers, with a couple more solo originals bookending the end of the album. In essence, the album works as a showcase for most of the different kind of styles, formats and types of song that you can find on Francis’s YouTube channel. So whether you follow his music for one particular style or for all of them, this album has something to offer everyone.

The Old Mare And The Sea is available to download on Francis Vace’s Bandcamp.

Seventh Element – Ponies On Acid | Album | Electronic

Despite being a well-established musician in the fandom (his channel goes all the way back to 2012!), it’s difficult to pin Seventh Element to any particular style of music. From Trap, to Disco, to Dark Ambient, and now a collection of Acid House and Techno beats. Time to break out the old Roland synthesizers and drum machines, we’re going back to the 80s today, kids!

I’ve said on a previously featured song from this album that Interior Design For Horses is a particular favourite of mine (the video for it is an experience like no other). Check it out along with the rest of the album, and if it’s not your cup of tea, don’t worry, 7th’s bound to be working on yet another new style of music that might be your thing.

Ponies On Acid is available to purchase from Seventh Element’s Bandcamp Page

Elias Frost – Stories Vol. I | Folk / Orchestral

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 12 April 2017

Elias Frost has a pretty big treat for those who like folk-style orchestral music! His new EP ‘Stories Vol. 1′ has just released, featuring a number of tracks that tell a symphonic story of Princess Platinum. There’s some lovely variety, with some more uplifting pieces, as well as ones that are obviously a lot more folk-y oriented. A couple of them, Royal Duty and Party At Puddinghead’s have already been featured before so may be recognisable, but there’s a bunch of new stuff here too. Give the EP video a listen, and check it out on Elias’ bandcamp!

Jyc Row – Alicornae EP (2017 Remastered Version) | Orchestral

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 10 March 2017.

A year or so ago Jyc Row released a series of orchestral pieces about the alicorns Twilight, Celestia, Luna and Cadance. Now though, with his stronger set of skills compared to then, he’s given the whole group of them a remaster. Some may prefer the old versions, but personally I’m definitely happy to see the new coat of paint thrown on them here. They’re some of Jyc’s best works, so it’s great to see them get a bit more love. Make sure to check the EP video out if you want to give them some love too!
