Radiarc – Always There | Orchestral

Radiarc ventures back into the dark orchestral style in this thrilling roller coaster of a track. Always There swings back and forth, starting as a slow, empty-feeling piece comprised mainly of high piano keys and an ambient voice, and then jumps into an intense battle-style epic. The different parts are both dark and feel like a raging battle inside your own mind. After going through several rewrites and a lot of time spent making sure it was done right, Radiarc really delivers with this tribute inspired by the cover art used in the track!

4everfreebrony – Second Chances (feat. Rockin’Brony, PrinceWhateverer, StealingShad3z, ReMake, GatoPaint, & The L-Train) | Rock

Here is a big time collaboration to be excited about! A very notable track off the new Ponies at Dawn album, Second Chances is a great display of the talents of several fandom favorite musicians! The piece begins with a beautiful orchestral opening that kicks into a full on rock song. Showcasing his always gorgeous melodies, 4everfreebrony sings of the difficulties Screwloose faces in learning to be normal. The rest of the crew provides the rock instrumentation, outstanding syncopation, and an insane guitar solo where each phrase was written and recorded by a different shredder. Rockin’Brony, PrinceWhateverer, StealingShad3z, Re:Make, GatoPaint, and The L-Train combine to help make Second Chances a song you absolutely do not want to miss!

[P@D] Soren Ember – Home | Soft Rock

Fresh from the newest Ponies at Dawn album, Soren Ember brings us the touching tribute to Rainbow Dash. The acoustic melody creates a happy, reflective theme as Ember’s emotional vocals describe how as long as Dash is flying, she is home. The track is beautiful and somber at the same time, a very satisfying piece for listening!

Vylet Pony – Hold on Before I Forget | Indie Pop

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 12 March 2018.

Vylet’s gentle works from his Tales From Equestria album continue, and this one has a pretty strong focus on his vocals. They come across pretty emotional and sultry here, with some great use of reverb in the instrumental to add some heavy feeling to it. The backing vocals also add another layer of depth.

[P@D] A Symphony Of Two – Renaissance | Orchestral

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 12 March 2018.

A Symphony Of Two’s works are often best described as deliberate and thoughtful, and this piece is arguably the strongest example of that yet. A very classically designed and tense piece, the composition throughout is highly captivating, and the strings especially are hugely emotive, whilst the piano is quite beautiful.

[P@D] loophoof – 478,000 Miles (Shining Forth) | Electro House

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 12 March 2018.

loophoof’s works always fill me with joy, because he just pours so much pony into them in just the right ways. He’s taken that to a new level here with an epic 8 minute track that details the story of Luna’s banishment to the moon and eventual return and redemption, full of vocal chops, voice clips from the show and some terrific composition. The name of the song is quite clever too – referencing the distance to the moon and back. And it’s all wrapped up here with an awesome PMV that swaps between images showing what part of the story it’s up to, and clips of the show that match the vocals in the song.

Brohoof Studios – The Acre Bounce | Melbourne Bounce

Brohoof Studios is a musician I’ve had the pleasure of watching (from a distance) grow from a total newbie into a master of wubs. The Acre Bounce new song of his is on Onward, a channel for publishing brand new pony music from the new generation of brony musicians. This song is super high-energy, wubbly, and danceable, with some wonderful vocal clips and chops. It reminds me of another energetic song–Nettohunden’s classic Get My Rope. If you haven’t listened to any of Brohoof Studios’ stuff in a while, give this one a go!

TCB – The Princess of Friendship | House

I’m back from hiatus, and what a song to come back to! Here we have some uplifting, feel-good house themed around Twilight! It’s very cheery and happy–some of the best and happiest house I’ve ever heard. It’s true some days are dark and lonely, and maybe you feel sad, but this song will be there to show you that it isn’t that bad!

Exiark & FritzyBeat – Behind | Indie Dance

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 11 March 2018.

The release of Exiark’s recent album Otherworldly Journey was something I was super excited to hear, and this track in collaboration with FritzyBeat is definitely one of the more upbeat releases from it. Featuring some lovely pop-y production, it fits Fritzy’s terrific vocals very well, and the use of vocal chops from some old Feather music is also a lovely touch.

Matías Peñaloza – Open Up Your Eyes (covering Daniel Ingram) | Piano / Orchestral

Matías always does a great job of reworking MLP songs into unique little accompanied piano arrangements. This one even goes as far as including the middle instrumental section that I’ve not seen anyone else use in their covers! Always nice to show some love for the BG scorers.
