Here’s something completely different (which I never thought I would say about Discord of all songs). Performed entirely on acoustic guitar with vocals, eurobeat enthusiast Anthony McBazooka demonstrates an array of talents from singing the wide range of the track to providing bass thumps through the body of his guitar. The performance is entertaining to watch start to finish, and McBazooka seems to do something new with every phrase he covers.

(A very belated) Horse Music Hotspot – February 2018 (the “We’re Sorry It’s So Late” edition)

It is (or rather was) the 2nd anniversary of the Horse Music Hotspot this February, and what better way to celebrate than to release the episode extremely late? I can only apologise for the delay, multiple issues from technical difficulties to IRL problems caused it, but better late than never!
Tracklist and embeds available after the break
Rockin’Brony – Winter Wrap Up (covering SHAICO / Daniel Ingram) | Symphonic Metal
Inspired by an old cover of the show’s first big hit (originally produced by SHAICO), Rockin’Brony re-creates Winter Wrap Up as a brilliant, symphonic instrumental. RB’s always top notch guitar soloing ability is really on display here, with several layers of great guitar work and shredding interspersed through the track. The drums are on point for the upbeat style and the bells really ring out the top-end of the mix for an extremely fun take on the beloved classic!
Sterling Fusion feat. Silver Note – Awoken (Covering H8 Seed + WoodenToaster ) | Electro Pop
Bringing back a classic, Sterling Fusion teams up with Silver Note to cover the WoodenToaster/H8 Seed hit. Sterling nails the lead vocals and all of the electronic effects, as Silver Note delivers on great additional. This is a great track for a quick stroll back down memory lane!
Namii – Wonderbolt (covering dBPony) | Piano Ballad
Namii done a cute! This song still holds a firm place in my heart and the hearts of so many others, and it’s really interesting to hear a slower, more stripped-back version of the song in a softer tone.
Matías Peñaloza – Open Up Your Eyes (covering Daniel Ingram) | Piano / Orchestral
Matías always does a great job of reworking MLP songs into unique little accompanied piano arrangements. This one even goes as far as including the middle instrumental section that I’ve not seen anyone else use in their covers! Always nice to show some love for the BG scorers.
[P@D] Spectra – Falter (covering Crystal Slave) | Soft Rock
Spectra is back and as good as ever with his beautifully touching contribution to the newest Ponies at Dawn compilation album, Rebirth. A pleasant, acoustic tone with a somber electric guitar lead set the emotion of Falter. Spectra’s singing compliments the song perfectly with passionate desperation, yearning not to be left alone. The reminiscence and emotion in his voice combined with the gorgeous acoustic elements mix intensely to create an incredible, solastalgic track – perfect for a rainy day!
4everfreebrony – Celestia (Reptilia ponified) | Alt Rock
Ponified The Strokes? Ponified The Strokes! The thing that impresses me the most about this is how closely it resembles the original Reptilia. From the guitar tone to the vocal performance (and the touch of overdrive), it just FEELS like a Strokes song! And of course 4everfree’s talent for lyrics shines through in this song, and how he manages to bring the story behind to life in a new light.
Przewalski’s Ponies x Adam Sporka – Dutch Tune (For Ember) (feat. Kirya) | Acoustic Chiptune
Yeah you read the title correctly – it’s acoustic chiptune! Adding classical music components to the original chiptune track, the talented members of Przewalski’s Ponies create an amazingly unique cover of the already exciting track. The crew put a new, exciting beat consisting of bass, tambourine, and percussion under the original Atari track with crazy acoustic riffs, an organ, and even a balalaika for a truly one-of-a-kind instrumental!
Ponies At Dawn – Rebirth | Compilation Album | Multi-Genre

Listening to the live album release stream for Rebirth, the thing that strikes me most is how brony musicians are always able to make such diverse songs, and to such a high level of production. From the (admittedly majority) range of electronic styles to the big rock and metal songs, to a full range of acoustic and orchestral tracks, there are constant surprises in store.
We’ll be featuring plenty of songs from the album as they’re released on YouTube by the respective artists or the P@D YouTube channel over the coming weeks. Until then, the album is available to download for any given price on Ponies At Dawn’s bandcamp page.
