Hay’s original version of this came out several months ago, but it’s always nice to hear revamped versions of already stellar tracks. It doesn’t differ hugely from the original, but as Hay Tea puts it himself, ‘New drums, new bass, new mix and better mastering’. Higher quality sounds are always appreciated.
Drum & Bass
Trixent – Dimension Hugger | Drum & Bass
Now onwards to the darker side of Drum & Bass thanks to our friend Trixent, we welcome his new release that isn’t short of the gritty sound design and unusual structures that the musician is now known for. Laying out over 6 minutes of musical bliss, this journey deep in pitch-black Drum & Bass will tingle your senses with delightfully eerie sounds and a masterful progression full of aggressive kicks and bass, as you get the musical embodiment of our favorite hippie pony transcending time and space to other dimensions courtesy of the Lord of Chaos himself (more info in the comments section). What could be her musical motif even appears during the track! A much inspired and amazing piece indeed. Darkness isn’t to be feared!
Vylet Pony – Little Dreams (Intersekt Remix) | Drum & Bass
Here’s what could well be my favorite remix of the critically acclaimed Little Dreams from music visionary Vylet Pony! It is bringing such a unique musical mood, that seems to blend Drum & Bass with the soft and warm side from the original, and the result is nothing short of emotional. The focus on the vocal chops is especially very appreciated and a delight for me, as it uses to bring much emotion, and Intersekt does it incredibly well in this remix. Truly a feast for the ears and the soul!
ƥRYZ РOnce Again (MrMehster Remix) | Drum & Bass / Happy Hardcore
MrMehster graces us with another remix, and it’s a fusion of sorts! It takes Technipony’s debut track under his new alias ∆•RYZ, Once Again, and gives it a unique spin. The structure of the remix is alternating between both genres and merging them in a delightful and masterful way, for a much uplifting and joyful result, fitting for an original track imbued with hopes and dreams of a “new age of musical endeavors”! Infinite support and best wishes to both of the musicians!
[P@D] Progressive Element & bank pain – LaunchcodeZ | Neurofunk
Plotting on unleashing some crazy DnB madness in Amity, banger masters Progressive Element and Bank Pain teamed up to create LaunchcodeZ, a dark, hard-hitting Neurofunk of much force. Gritty wubs, disquieting piano, wonders of sound design, and a tense mood are the perfect elements to turn insane to inside some hidden underground laboratory, and to input the launch code into the console.
[P@D] bank pain & Thrasher – Searchlights Over Canterlot | Metal Neurofunk
Pendulum meets Noisia anyone? Or perhaps something straight from an album by The Qemists (thanks Sky Runner for reminding me about them!) This contribution to Amity comes from the producers of two of my favourite songs from the last P@D album. Thrasher’s used to combining metal guitars and electronic sounds, but this might be a first for bank – nonetheless the blend of metal and dnb is seamless. I hope we get to see more of this kind of thing from these two artists in the future!
[P@D] ThatMusicBrony – Among the Stars (Sky Runner Remix) | Drum & Bass
NB: This was originally posted on Equicity on 26 January 2017.
With her first releases dating back to November 2016, Sky Runner is a fairly new face to pony music. Nevertheless, her tracks made a significant impact in the drum & bass scene.
This remix retains many elements of the original song, including ThatMusicBrony’s signature vocals. However, the tempo change brings with it a shift in atmosphere, and the many melodies shine anew in a bright euphoric light, coupled with fast paced breakbeats. The result is an upbeat tune that wouldn’t seem out of place at any drum & bass party.
[P@D] bank pain – Empire Past (Hay Tea Remix) / Del Rom – Ignition (Hydra Remix) | Drum & Bass
Double post of remixes combining neurofunk and liquid woooo! There have been so many Empire Past remixes recently…and with good reason, the original is a tuuuuuune. This one from Hay Tea goes a lot more into neurofunk territory that his signature liquid style, sampling the original’s basses and slicing up drum beats on top of it. The addition of a half-time section later on with those reeses works a treat in my opinion
[P@D] Spectra – Nebula (NeverLastStanding Remix) | Drum & Bass
Amity’s streak of emotional and heartfelt remixes is definitely an event to be remembered in pony music history, and this remix of Spectra’s Nebula by NeverLastStanding is one of my favorite examples. With an intro of untold purity that seems to bring out emotions with an outstanding ease, the deep nostalgia-infused remix then makes a lovely use of meaningful pony vocal chops, and brings out happy vibes evoking many aspects of being part of this wonderful community, with amazing melodies that reflect the remix’s underlying personal meaning so well. The surprising outro is also a delight, and doesn’t fail to bring even more emotion to the track right when we wouldn’t expect it. A masterpiece of a remix, and a shining token of the power of music, of Friendship, and of Passion.
PonyChrome – Dash (Hay Tea Bootleg) | Drum & Bass
Hay Tea did it again! Get ready for new DnB greatness bringing back to the stage PonyChrome’s track Dash, and paying much tribute to it. This bootleg is making awesome use of the Chiptune core element from the original, turning it into a Chiptune-powered DnB musical bliss of much grace and nostalgia.
