Here it is, what’s bound to be the best Ponies At Dawn album yet. With each new album comes both a new selection of artists as well as some of the great ones who have been around for a while – something that is in my opinion the best balance when compiling brony music.
The album is available completely for free on Bandcamp, or you pay whatever amount you wish for it. You can expect to see many of the songs from it posted on the site in the coming days and weeks!
To be able to make a decent remix of a song in a decent turnaround time is something I often envy in other artists. Here we have a great complextro remix of Violin Melody’s latest song from Event HoriXZ0n (happy now mate?), which actually goes easy on the dry/wet levels in the mixing (thank goodness, overdone wubs can sound dreadful).
Making a seemingly very speedy turnaround from the release of Super Pony World this summer, Vylet’s back with another album, this one about Rarity. Not quite as monumental as SPW, however Love Letters still contains 12 tracks, more than qualifying it for a full album status. Read on for a look at each track one-by-one as it transitions through many phases of electronic music with hints of jaaazzzz.
Everypony’s got their Passion, and it Photo Finish’s that this new track from Violin Melody is paying tribute to. Much in the dazzling style of her antics in both the show and the “Photo Finished” EQG short, this banging Electro House tune will flash the concert hall with fash!
Another new song from pony music (relatively) new-comer ApostropheShy…or ‘Shy I guess, whichever they prefer. Whilst not actually written in a pentatonic scale, the name is still somewhat fitting for a song about the dj hors. The melodies are written in a relative minor pentatonic scale, Speckie is a music theory noob, still a fitting name for a song about dj hors.
Well this was a slightly unexpected turn of events. In preparation for the upcoming remix EP of Egomania, Aviators has made a remix. With Avi dipping in and out of pony music these days, it’s nice to see something from him that’s both linked to a major release, and marks a huge improvement since some of his earlier works in the same genre.
Exiark is making a run-up to another album release, and here we have the very first track from it! Life Still Left In Me brings in one of Exi’s previous collaborators, Chi-Chi, on board with vocals, whose lyrics (presumably) set the premise for this album Exiark’s working on. And that’s not all, they also did an “acoustic” (orchestral-like) rendition of the song, which you can find here on Chi-Chi’s channel!
New musician? New musician! Or least they’re new to us, with only 4 songs released anyway. This remix of Zaktt’s Night Mare keeps the same pace as the original, but adds in Suskii’s own growls and stab sounds, which are prominent throughout the entire song.
Virus Ponies are improving their production skills with every new release. I may not be a huge fan of bounce, this song is simple but has pretty good mixing and sound design.
Racist barn, racist barn. Let’s go back in time to the season 3 episode Apple Family Reunion. Take the episode’s upbeat country/bluegrass song and switch it for bouncy, heavy electronic beats and you end up with this. Reminiscent of some of uThunder’s work, Sayonara Maxwell and MiatriSs’ remix sure it catchy.
Horse Music Herald
