[PP] Koron Korak – Longest Dark Night | Ambient
Koron’s pony songs are always such a delight, and this one has got an interesting concept starring Trixie, that is reflected so well in the music! The Ambient piece is perfectly setting the atmosphere of the story, and it’s like we’re living that adventure along with Trixie. With a rich composition and such a lovely concept, Longest Dark Night is in my opinion certainly one of the highlights of Pinkamena Party’s latest Christmas album!
[ASOS] Cynifree & Reverbrony – Windigo | Electronic / Metal
Compilation albums are always home to such lovely collabs, and Ice Cream certainly saw the birth and rise of many! In addition to his collab with Zizkil From Here To Where, Cynifree gathered the help of the one and only Reverbrony to lay out such blissful guitar riffs among the gorgeous electronic instrumental! The whole track is quite epic and the progressive aspect certainly is reminiscent of Reverbrony’s signature style! A very successful collab, shining with the union of the two musicians’ talents!
Ponytronic – Tundra Cheer | Breakbeat
One of my all-times favorites from Ponytronic for sure, Tundra Cheer is a masterpiece of sound and emotion, creating a magical and cuddly atmosphere, delivering gorgeous melodies, and crafting an amazing progression with each part being even more emotional than the other. Not to mention that this almighty track also got an incredible concept about Pinkamena and her character depth, detailled in the description on YouTube! As someone who certainly understands the richness and scale of Pinkie’s chara depth, I can appreciate Ponytronic’s thoughts so much, and how he imbued them in this somptuous tune along that equally breathtaking artwork from MirroredSea. Zizkil’s solo contribution to A State of Sugar Ice Cream is as unique and polished as you could expect, with a stunning progression of many electronic wonders! The melodies and sounds feel very MLP-like and cute, and it’s no wonder since it’s about our beloved Glimmy! This track has actually got quite a deep concept to it too, you can read about it from the description on YouTube!
Tripon – Equestrian Ravers | Drum & Bass
The title track from Tripon’s Equestrian Ravers EP sure embodies the concept from the title so well, as you can totally picture cool ponies dancing to this in some underground rave venue in Equestria after dark! The master of DnB and Neuro lays out his skill once more and many dark electronic delights are ravishing ears and soul alike as the mighty tune unfolds.
[ASOS] Intersekt – A Twilight In Time | House
Inty’s contribution to A State of Sugar’s sweet Ice Cream is such a beauty, focusing on Twilight and making sparkling use of vocal chops of her voice. It makes for a lot of emotion as it’s like we can feel her presence throughout the song, and along those divine and very emotional melodies too, the whole track is such a refined and powerful experience that has lots of surprises in store for us… just like a certain purple pony!
JoinedTheHerd – Shelter (feat. Stellar Eclipse) | Drum & Bass
Who doesn’t love JoinedTheHerd at this point? Shelter is a very relaxing track with a gorgeous soundscape! The synth sets the tone perfectly with its bright chords, the flute keeps the sound light and pretty, the acoustic drums give the atmosphere a trace of nature and rhythm, and finally Stellar Eclipse‘s vocals come in with a soft, calming message. Everything in this track is well-designed and flawlessly executed – which is part of what makes JoinedTheHerd such a talented producer!
loophoof & NeverLastStanding – Have Here (Silva Hound Remix) | Trap
Silva Hound is starting 2019 strong with a great remix from loophoof and NeverLastStanding as featured on Cider Party last year! The track features Pinkie vocal chops throughout, starting with a light melody before building into an upbeat jam with the kind of energy and immersion that Silva has thrived upon. The energy is well-managed throughout, knowing just when to calm down before exploding back into the song that has you clapping along at home. The song ends with a neat guitar riff provided by Sylver Stripe to echo the soft synth from the original.
FlutterDash Records – Lend a Hoof (TCB Remix) | Midtempo
TCB is great at targeting the emotion of a song and bringing out the best in it! This remix of Lend a Hoof (originally by FlutterDash Records) pinpoints the loneliness in the vocal melodies and lets it shine with a bit of light piano. When the lyrics brighten up with the theme of helping each other, the piano melody, beat, and signature TCB style kick in and really shine – always through the original vocals.
