Thyrai – Injuring Eternity | Progressive House

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 27 March 2017.

Thyrai seems to be getting pretty great at upbeat house music, as shown by another excellent release here. Featuring solid percussion, a catchy chord progression and some nice lead synth sounds this is definitely one to jam to. There’s some great music box-style sounds  and some violin in the break, and overall it’s a pretty powerful piece.

Daniel Ingram – Friends Are Always There For You (syzygy. Remix) | Melodic Dubstep

syzygy. continues his streak of brilliant remixes with his take on one of the more recent show songs—this time opting for a lush, supersaw-laden style. Between squishy leads and gated chords, this remix provides an all-new instrumental frame while keeping the vocal arrangement intact, thus departing from the traditional two-drop-structure we’ve all come to expect. Instead, all the transitions play off of the vocals wonderfully, and you’re rewarded with a sweet orchestral outro if you keep listening until the end. Complete with interesting bits and pieces of sound design throughout the entire track and a fair attention to detail, syzygy’s remix definitely gives the more popular remixes of Friends Are Always There For You a run for their money.

The song is available as a free download from mediafire, so make sure to add it to your collection!

Redstone Brony – Risen | Progressive House

While I do think the Redstone’s mixing needs work (perhaps the choice of kick too if I’m being picky), I’m loving the classic prog house style melodies and synths he’s constructed and used in this piece. Room for improvement often means an artist can only get better though, so they’re definitely one to watch for future releases.

Seventh Element – Sensational! | Acid House

Pony acid house? Pony acid house! I wasn’t expecting this either to be honest, but Seventh’s musical interest seems to span many, many genres. This song is part of his upcoming album, Ponies on Acid, filled with plenty more acid synths and 303 beats to meet your old-school production needs (Interior Design for Horses is a particular favourite of mine).

StrachAttack – Black Magic VIP ft. NekoWolf (Silver Fenix Remix) | Trap

We’re a little late with this one, but it’s still great to see some new faces in the music scene. Having been a brony for several years and now with a couple of years practice in production under his belt, Silver Fenix is beginning to release his own pony music, starting with this remix of Strach’s Black Magic VIP. I’m sure it would have found its way onto Strach’s remix EP from a while back had it been released sooner, but there’ll be plenty more opportunities for us to see Silver Fenix’s work featured in the future. Go subscribe to him if you like this sort of thing, he’s already released a fair few other tracks!

Metapony – Moonlight | Progressive House

There’s something truly special about Metapony’s Progressive House, and perhaps it is the wonderful Night feel that a lot of the tracks have, reminding of Night Trance and making for a lot of emotion. This new piece fittingly centered around Luna’s Moonlight certainly has that powerful vibe going and provides a blissful experience with a wonderful progression of warm synths, reflecting so well the comfort of the Night.

Kawaii Dash – Vape Hors | Future Trap

Xavi’s latest masterpiece is here everypony, and this one is especially crazy. In all the good ways. What originally was a Future Bass experiment turned into a much Vapor-inspired Future Trap banger of many wonders, where blissful whomps, divine vocal chops, sick sound design, and far-out distortions are all creating an incredible experience to replay and replay again. The second vapor-ey part is really hitting hard and is very powerful along that amazing soundscape Xavi-chi is known for. The heavier vocal chops parts featuring Giggly Maria‘s vocals are also very intense and I can’t get over how incredible that bass synth is. As for the Vapor cover art from RacoonKun, it is completing the experience very nicely (I recommend his artworks by the way, tons of sexy great stuff).

Crusader – Airship | Dubstep

Brace yourselves everypony!! The pony airship is lifting off! Onward to our destination! A corrupted empire we have to fight! Or something like that. No I’m not crazy, and the J-RPG fans will sure understand the kind of airship this song is referencing. Coming along an awesome animation that truly gives proper honor to the concept, the inspired Dubstep banger displays a mighty beat with subtle Trap flavors, incredible vocal chops, sick wubs, and a melodic progression that just leaves you speechless. A masterpiece from Crusader, and a personal favorite of mine!

Dynamite Grizzly – Greater Dawn | Hard-Tech

Starting off with a rather holy sounding melodic vocal hook and jungle-style drum roll you’d expect this track to be a delicious foray into Drum & Bass. However, the track quickly opens up into a much more decadent mix of hardcore meets hard-tech. The further addition of Arabic inspired instruments and Heavy Rock guitars makes this track a very unique listening experience. The seemingly incompatible sounds work very well together making the track just as pleasant to listen to as it is uncommon.
