My goodness… Can we first talk about the production quality of this track and that video? It is virtually a music video you would think came from the show itself! This is how you use vocal chops at the utmost efficiency and enhancement of your song! It’s exciting with the composition of two very talented producers: Mr. Mehster and my boi Whirly Tail! Along with the narration from the episode itself, we have the impactfully orchestrated melody from Mehster, combined with Whirly’s signature happy hardcore sound! The styles blend to feed into the battle between good and evil with such super powered fun. Such a banger! Just don’t hurt an innocent firefly while enjoying this banger if you value your well being. PeKaNo – Sunset from the Sky | Trance
Inspired by musician Nicolas Dominique, PeKaNo drabbles into the genre of trance for the first time. The melody is telling of a pegasus flying with absolute freedom, as they soar through clouds with the speed of sound. The vibe of the song structure is pretty fitting of the artwork’s theme as well: flying so free right into the rays of the sun being set by Celestia. The harmonics with the bass give off vibes of Rainbow Dash, out for some casual flight while daring anypony to catch her! You get pulled into a state of trance because of how pleasing this sounds. A different flare of music from PekaNo? No problem! As always, this Qilin asks you to judge for yourself.
[Equinity] TotalSpark – My Design (feat. Alex Delzer) | Future Garage
Boy this song is a mood, huh? The question, however, is this: Is it brony music? I would say that it is based on the thumb nail art of Lyra and the message of the track itself. Sometimes we all feel like a background pony in life and are not even sure if people will care enough to notice or listen to us. I’ve been there myself wanting to reach out for help and hoping people will listen. The lyrics tell that story very powerfully, as TotalSpark says in his own words and Mr. Alex Delzer sings in such an uncertain voice. The melodies are pretty with these wondrous but shaky tones and harmonics that have this feeling of questions that need real answers. The message is something we as a bunch of outcasts can strongly relate to; these days more than ever the message of friendship of MLP is very much needed in society. It’s one of the aspects I like about what Equinity03: Breach brings to the table especially so with this song, which is track 39 on the album. As always, this Qilin asks you to judge for yourself.
Juxtapone – Good as Tartarus | Acidcore
“Now for something completely different!” as Monty Python would say, and I think this certainly fits in this case! Pony Life is a wacky and wild ride with some of the Mane Six character traits, especially Fluttershy, who has some unusual behaviors that are quite welcome at the table if you ask me! This song pretty much sums all of that up and dives into the ludicrous antics of Pony Life in one crazy mix of trippy vocal chops and these bizarre and freaky melodies that go into this place of twisted reality, and then it throws hard guitar riffs for distorted elements into the mix. All of this was inspired by the “good as hell” tag in the reveal trailer of Pony Life. Not a bad showing of work. Please support Juxtapone who after this song has said is to be called Fetlocked for now on. Leave comments and help a musician get better please. As always, this Qilin asks you to judge for yourself.
GeekBrony & Drummershy – Last Tempest (feat. Vylet) (Whirly Tail Remix) | Happy Hardcore
“Last Tempest” has received some excellent remixes (check out the original version description for links to them), and Whirly Tail’s addition to the roster is no exception! If Tempest had played this when she invaded, she might have started a party instead of a panic! Whirly Tail does what he does best and injects frenetic energy into the song via soaring synths and outstanding vocal chops. The overall result of this excellent hardcore treatment is a brighter, faster delivery that maintains the imposing tone of the original while making excellent use of Vylet’s vocals, skillfully complimenting them and re-purposing them throughout. This is audio caffeine at it’s finest!
r_chase – Stay Fresh, Unicorn | Hardtek
The Equestrian Terror Corps label keeps helping to get the word out about quality music from underrepresented genres, this time with a single by r_chase. The entrancing pounding kick and the sirens come with tight breakbeats and make for a track that definitely would be played at Ponyville’s greatest free parties. On top of being a perfect introduction to the genre it is ultimately a very enjoyable listen.
[Equinity] Voltex Pixel & Tw3Lv3 – Fresh Glamour | House
The new Equinity album: Equinity 03: Breach is here, and with it tons of awesome music including Fresh Glamour, a Starlight-inspired track by two newer and talented musicians. This mix is slightly different from the one on the album, it differs by size and structure and the break made by Tw3Lv3 comes earlier in the track. While the album version was more progressive this one seems to have undergone changes thanks to Greyfade‘s input.
H8_Seed – Neverending Strife (Doxypony Remix) | Drumstep

Old Discord fans should really enjoy this one! DOXY here amps up the tempo with some quick drum beats, plus in the spirit of discord kinda makes it chaotic with the wavy fast melodies and the 8-bit keyboard tones that sound like something out of Castlevania! Not a bad thing at all! The lyrics are manipulated to go at a discord pace. It’s incredibly nostalgic for fans that have been around for quite some time, and a warm reminder of when Discord first appeared in the show. The remix also features a pretty smooth keyboard solo. The technology and production value has gotten better over time. So, it’s interesting to hear remixes of older songs, and seeing how they still stand up. Who knows? Maybe folks like Doxypony will be making noise when gen 5 appears. As always, this Qilin asks you to judge for yourself.
[P@D] PegasYs & Koa – Hinterland (Rabbit Hole) | Electro Pop
Everyone knows PegasYs is such a good producer and vocalist. So how about a taste of some vocals that have just a tad of reggae vibe to them? It’s a style that is well-suited to the lyrics. PegasYs shows off his vocal range with this one, and the lovely Koa then comes in with her own sweet vocals to add some love to this “ship” of Twilight and Sunburst. As track 8 onP@D: Ignite, the song features a wonderland-style pop melody that is so catchy, and the vocals lend a worldly feel to the musical Moombah style (as it’s stated). You can relax in wonder with this one! As always, this Qilin asks you to judge for yourself.
[P@D] Faulty – Hidden (feat. ThatMusicBrony) | House
You know…..This is a pretty thought-provoking track if I do say so myself. Faulty up to this point, to me, has been known to really smash out the high energy with his music. By contrast, this song is so deep and moving. That deep, dramatic piano, the rain effect, and the slow burn of emotion in that melody that is smooth and cerebral. The song becomes a journey for answers once TMB’s awesome vocals really start to take hold of your mind, and the message of the track really hits you. Faulty has made something inquisitive, ambient, and so chill. You can find it on P@D: Ignite at track 15. Come find out yourself with the bug queen!
