[P@D] Reverbrony – Strut It | Metal

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 24 October 2016.

Bringing on the heaviness, Reverbrony is back with a powerful metal track that comes in hard right away. What I like most about this track though are those lead guitar melodies that add a bit more structure to the track, and are definitely the most memorable part to it. If you want some powerful metal to psyche you up, make sure to check it out!

[P@D] Jyc Row, Francis Vace & Woodlore – Warriors of Griffonstone | Celtic Metal

And now, Jyc’s other track from Voyager. This one was a pretty cool collaboration – getting Francis on another track with the metal guitars, and Woodlore’s voice is so powerful it fits the genre very well (and the little acoustic bridge part means we get to hear him do his thing too!)

[P@D] Thrasher – Orbit | Metalcore

Freaking YES! I love this kind of stuff. Metalcore with an electronic influence seems to be Thrasher’s speciality and they’ve come back to participate in this Ponies At Dawn album too. Seems it’s also part of an upcoming EP, something I’m very much looking forward to. In the meantime, DJENT!

[P@D] Jyc Row & Francis Vace – Celestial Beserkers (ft. IbeConCept) | Celtic Metal Big Room

No, seriously.

This one certainly took me by surprise when I heard it. Not only does Jyc take a shot at more of an electronic side of production than usual, but it’s combined with his own celtic orchestral style, Francis’s input on the metal sections and IbeConCept is brought in to rap in the verses.  There is literally an influence from every category we put things into here (Electronic, Rock, and Misc), and I’ve never heard anything quite like this. Kudos to the three of you for this!

Ponies At Dawn – Voyager | Compilation Album | Multi-Genre

Here it is, what’s bound to be the best Ponies At Dawn album yet. With each new album comes both a new selection of artists as well as some of the great ones who have been around for a while – something that is in my opinion the best balance when compiling brony music.

The album is available completely for free on Bandcamp, or you pay whatever amount you wish for it. You can expect to see many of the songs from it posted on the site in the coming days and weeks!

MetalPony – The Pony I Want To Be (Cover) | Metal

For some reason I always forget about the reprise to The Pony I Want To Be, but I’m very glad MetalPony remembered it and included it in this cover. Their vocals are so powerful too, they really bolster the emotion that shows through in the original, and the harmonies in the chorus are to die for!

Reverbrony – Energized (feat. Vinyl Darkscratch) | Groove Metal

A song with a title that perfectly reflects its musical mood, Reverbrony’s newest release is a collaboration with underground pony musician Vinyl Darkscratch (who also founded Nightwave Studios which is behind the dark comic Adapting To Night) and is definitely a much welcomed piece. Despite the collab not lasting for the entirety of the track, Energized represents a fusion of intriguing darkness with high-energy speed and force, reflecting the contributions of the two musicians, and enthralls until the end along powerful riffs and solos, Reverbrony style!

Segments Of Life – The Empty Hourglass | Metalcore / Electronic

Segments Of Life seems to be going through a phase of parodying Trap Nation records in their videos, so have this latest ‘Equestria Nation Records’ release – a complete melange of genres including djent, trap and drum & bass…because if you can make it work, why not?
