Lycan Dese Beats – Beats 4 Everfree | Compilation Album | Multi-Genre

Three years ago, after running a successful radio show about brony music for several months, Lycan got a bunch of musicians to pitch in some songs to make a compilation album featuring them. Fast forward to now, and this annual album is now in its 4th edition with the release of Beats 4 Everfree. The primary difference this time round is that the album is dedicated to Everfree Northwest, for which Lycan is the musical coordinator this year, and the funds raised from the album sales will go to EFNW’s chosen charity, the Washington Autism Alliance & Advocacy. 14 tracks from a group of consistently solid musicians and producers take this album through all sorts of genres – electronic to orchestral – so there’s something in here for everyone’s tastes!

Beats 4 Everfree is available to download for any given price from the Lycan Dese Beats Bandcamp.

BlueBrony – The Banishment of Luna | Orchestral

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 17 May 2018.

BlueBrony always seems to be able to weave lovely stories with his music when he puts his mind to it, and that’s absolutely the case here with a heartwrenching piece that covers the multitudes of emotions that are gone through in the classic tale of Celestia banishing Luna to the moon. No matter how often artists cover this story, I never seem to get tired of it.

Elias Frost – Jaak-Jaaki Dance | Folk

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 15 May 2018.

I truly love when Elias Frost branches out into more folk-influenced stuff, especially when it comes in the form of new original tunes. This piece is inspired by the culture of the great yak race, and definitely sounds like it would represent them well. The woodwind instrumentation is enchanting, and the composition is superb.

Vylet Pony – Nowhere | Pop

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 15 May 2018.

Vylet’s back with another track from his latest album, and this one is a super cool blend of intimate acoustic elements and some more electronic stuff too. His vocals are prominently involved in the emotions of the story being told, and it’s all a super cute time.

Mane In Green – Step! Buck! Leap! Touch! | Celtic Folk

This fun track is from Mane In Green, who was in inspired by a short theme from the recent episode Horse Play. Expanding on the theme composed by composer William Anderson, Mane In Green’s track explodes with jubilant Celtic flavor and dancing fun! Be sure to grab a download of the track from Mane In Green’s Bandcamp or Pony.fm page for when the need to break out in a jig arises.

UndreamedPanic – The Outdoors | Album | Electronic

I don’t think I could ever count the amount of music that Panic’s made. The sheer volume of music he’s contributed to fandom is incredible and it all just keeps getting better as he grows as a producer! The Outdoors sees him taking on some more poppy styles like Future Bass, a bit of Indie Pop influence, but also a good deal of Melodic Dubstep tracks too. Anyone who’s a fan of Panic’s usual songs, or any kind of mainstream-style electronic music is bound to enjoy this.

The Outdoors is available to purchase on UndreamedPanic’s Bandcamp.

Daniel Ingram – Time To Be Awesome (NeverLastStanding Arrangement) | Orchestral

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 11 May 2018.

NeverLastStanding’s been hard at work and he’s put together a full arrangement of Time To Be Awesome, with sheet music included! It’s a pretty cool undertaking, and it reflects the fun sound of the track perfectly.

Equestria Electric Symphony Orchestra – Love’s My Cutie Mark | Classic Pop

Equestria Electric Symphony Orchestra always keeps it interesting and catchy! This moving, late 60s style track has a lot of great elements to it including a jazzy bass, fun pop beat, and some rock thrown in to boot! EESO sings about the trials and self-doubt that come with the struggle to get a cutie mark before ultimately realizing that his special talent is love. The lyrics are very clever and the track as a whole is dangerously addicting. Love’s My Cutie Mark is an incredibly creative track that will get you dancing and singing along in no time!

N. Hollow, MC-Arch & Brohoof Studios – Bad Trip | Riddim / Hip-Hop

Warning: explicit lyrics and drug references

Brony hip-hop is really taking off again and this crew is a big part of the movement. MC-Arch and N. Hollow rap about the pride they have in what they are doing with the Straight From The Heart movement and the importance of sticking with what is important to you in life. Brohoof Studios provides the hard, acid-trap backing track setting the stage for the intense, hallucination-based Bad Trip which Arch and Hollow use as the theme for the track. Unique and exciting, this track is a great blend of talented artists and styles so be sure to check out Bad Trip!

[P@D] BroniKoni – Runaway Princess | Pop Rock

BroniKoni are without a doubt one of the best actual bands I’ve seen in the brony fandom, and I’m so happy to see them contribute to a Ponies At Dawn album! Runaway Princess starts with wonderful synth arps, fast-paced riffs and as it progresses, each instrument takes its turn at the forefront. From guitars to flute to piano (including a neat little 7/4 breakdown; odd time signatures are always appreciated) we get the whole band taking turns to shine, ending with a beautiful piano solo. This is one of three of their songs about the banishment of Luna, there’s more info in the video description. This song is available on Rebirth and also their debut album, Friendship Express!
