[ASOS] Heartsong – Home Sweet Home | Orchestra/OST

Cadenza Heartsong is very well deserving to have one in Horse Music Herald’s view. One of the best tracks on ASOS: Chocolate. Anyone who has played RPGs for most of their lives (namely Final Fantasy 9) will pick up on this and more than likely have some serious chills and feels,.

At track 46, he takes that inspiration and turns it into something a lot of bronies really need at this very moment, a heartfelt message of hope. The arrangement is like you’ve gotten off a balloon from earth realm, right to Ponyville. You’re a brony so spent with how our world is, that you look around and see the ponies of Equestria living happily and in harmony. The quaint and hopeful elements used are like you’re right in a video game of Equestria. The use of the sparkling harp for the taste of magic is a really nice touch! You find yourself being led to Twilight’s castle as she knows where you have come from. You’re welcomed warmly into her home with the rest of the mane 6 and are treated like family as this track plays on. The artwork and heartfelt message at the start of the video really set the vibe: very nice and wonderful as you come into the world of Equestria. It’s a real gem on this album, but as always, this Qilin asks you to judge for yourself.

[VibePoniez] CAPT (Notion Pova) – i miss everypony (Cookie) | Lo-Fi

When I found out CAPT over at Equestria Terror Corps made it on this album, I was pretty happy for him. Making it onto his first compilation album VibePoniez: Homework. The track centers around the Pony Life episode: ” I, Cookie”, where Pinkie is alone and getting pretty creative about keeping herself entertained.

The music itself is this dreamy and kinda eerie sounding lo-fi beat, and it kinda fits because of what Pinkie is dealing with in that episode: animated cookies of her friends! The Lo-Fi flow and beat is very unique in the sense that with it, there is this flavor of insanity as if you listen close to all the vocal chops used. It’s pretty nice for the theme of this track. No wonder this track made it on the album. Give CAPT some love for trying something new! As always, this Qilin asks you to judge for yourself.

RedSpark – Alicornia | Orchestral

Today we have “Alicornia” the sixth movement of RedSpark’s “A Tale of Starlight” Symphonic Poem. The song starts out with some lovely strings which create a really mysterious feeling and last for some time as if you were walking through Alicornia yourself and then it stops. Silence reigns for a second that feels like an eternity, then you hear the song really blowing up as you see the whole beauty of Alicornia. After that the song calms down again and shortly thereafter the song adds some more epic tunes which really give the whole song an amazing progression. I could sit here all day telling you about how amazing this is but I’m going to keep this short by saying: RedSpark’s stuff is on par with Jyc Row.

Lord Sunfyre – Dear Sister | Pop Punk / Alternative Rock

If you want to create epic songs about pivotal themes in MLP, where do you start? On this rockin’ track, Lord Sunfyre takes us back to the first episode of G4 and explores Celestia’s psyche on the 1000 year anniversary of Luna’s banishment to the moon. How does Celestia feel about her time serving as Equestria’s sole ruler? Why weren’t we treated to an epic Celestia vs Nightmare Moon showdown? The artist offers an answer through some great lyrics and guitar work. Accompanied by a nice lyric video to help transport the listener to that moment, it’s a great first offering from a new horse rocker!

[ASOS] Replacer – Swim | Alternative Pop

When you hear this track, you may find yourself thinking this track may be just a bit on the repetitive side. However, on a deeper meaning, the lyrics tell how we all feel really cooped up these days from this pandemic. The dreamy vibes of losing yourself in something you enjoy to better put this. This song is like a very cooped up animal that just wants to run and be free! The smooth wavy and dreamy melodies and soft bass really hit home with all of us. Another gem as the 49th track on ASOS: Chocolate. A song with a wanting to just get lost in the waves of normality again. As always, this Qilin asks you to judge for yourself.

Red Spark – General Solis | Orchestral

Today we’ve got ourselves something rare everypony: this stellar track from Red Spark and even though personally I prefer EDM over everything else (who would have guessed) I have a sweet spot for orchestral tracks, this one in particular. The track starts out with dark drums and which slowly transitions into strings and goes from the dark and sinister tone more to a dark and epic tone and builds on this theme by adding more instruments only to once more switch to only strings which in my opinion really sells the theme and the track pretty much stays with this notion of epicness until it slowly starts fading out. I know I fanboy a lot over EDM in my articles but this song really is extraordinary no matter if you like orchestral or not.

WanderingArtist – Divertimento | Orchestra

Who needs something very pleasant and chill to listen to? Did you all know that WanderingArtist is the music composer of Pony Town? His small EP PonyTown Beach Update, which is a soundtrack of sorts showcases that! The melodies are light, fun and fluffy! With wonderful uses of piano, Flutes, harmonics, xylophone and bass instruments! There is not much more to say, but just sit back and put your stresses off to the sides and enjoy a nice cold drink as you listen to this beauty. As always, this Qilin asks you to judge for yourself.

@ppleBukker – I Miss You | Chillout

@ppleBukker returns to fandom music after a hiatus to lend their blend of skilful vocal chopping and smooth production to a subject that has profoundly affected many of us since the beginning of the pandemic. While everyone has done their best to stay connected through technology, the reality is that the lack of more immediate contact with close friends has been difficult to cope with. @ppleBukker addresses that beautifully here, creating an introspective piece that is a fitting tribute to those missing connections. It’s one of those great songs that finds that sweet combination of being both chill and dynamic, and it makes for a very rewarding and cathartic listening expertise. If you enjoy this song, please also check out the rest of their YouTube channel, which is full of horse music goodness!

Vylet Pony – Hyperion (feat. loophoof) | Progressive Electronic

A dream collab in many bronies’ eyes. Two of the very best in the brony music community at the art of telling stories with their music. There is clearly some Asian inspiration in the tone of this track. The story comes from Vylet’s upcoming album Super Pony World: Fairytails, with this being the 14th track.

The track centers around her OC in combat with a character called Hyperion (there’s going to be a full fanfic that comes alongside the album when it comes out!). There are all kinds of elements of different genres mixed into this complex track: ambient, orchestra, drumstep and loophoof‘s signature electro house sound; the soft and tension-filled melodies with the flute really permeate. Speaking of loophoof, his presence is felt all throughout this track with those sweet harmonies that he loves to do, filling the track with emotion with his trusty LaunchPad! Then you have some sweet keyboard tones as the track picks up in pace. It’s hard to really put it into words as there is so much going on, but there is no mistake! The combo of Vylet’s singing voice and her mixing with loophoof’s breathtaking ability to add so much emotional depth to his melodies really make it feel like an electronic music orchestra here! It really does tell the story of a fight and conflict going on. The pony vocal samples, the rough elements, the pace of track come together well as these two endure this fight and start asking questions. The finale of the track is a pretty good example of the chaos of a fight going on. With Vylet being the music genius she is, getting everything to mesh and flow together, it paints that picture very well. My bronies, just listen to the musical magic at work here. As always, this Qilin asks you to judge for yourself.
