Here comes one of my favorite releases!! For the third and final act of the story initiated with The Eternal Reign of King Sombra, Mane In Green composed a 18-minutes track!! For me who uses to listen to some 20-minutes Prog Rock tracks, this is a real delight (and it does have hints of Prog Rock, progression-wise but also musically at times). And For Equestria We Rise is not just long and progressive, it has its own storyline, too! And the music fits so well with it! You can get the details in the description, with timestamps for the different parts, and there’s additional lines appearing in the video, along very fitting artworks. Mane In Green truly went all-out for this final chapter, and the result is nothing short of breathtaking, combining the musician’s talents at both Orchestral and Rock music, with even powerful organs and choruses in some parts bringing even more epicness. A progressive masterpiece and fusion of genres, empowered by an inspired story and a wonderful heartfelt message at the end. Truly one of Mane In Green’s finest works, if not simply the artist’s biggest masterpiece. You definitely want to sub to Mane In Green for more amazing content, and also don’t forget to show your support to the artist for his work and feelings!
Orchestral
John Doe – The Changing of Seasons | Orchestral
The composer of the OST of Pony Town himself, John Doe releases a new solo track, fitting very nicely as an accompaniment to the cover art just like an OST track would if this was a scene from a video game. The winds and piano are both doing a beautiful job at reflecting the serenity of the moment, and the track, almost as gentle as a lullaby, makes for a wonderful haven of sounds.
Elias Frost – Royal Duty | Orchestral
NB: This is an edited version of what was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 26 February 2017.
This piece from Elias is more reserved, with soft strings and piano that feed into a more diverse range of sounds as the tracks goes on. It gets pretty folk-y towards the end, which helps to keep it interesting.
Radiarc – Wander | Orchestral
NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 24 February 2017.
Some more beautiful orchestral music from Radiarc, who seems to be making a habit of releasing stunning music like this on a regular basis. The feeling of Fluttershy lying down and letting her mind wander in the soft sunlight is perfectly captured by the languid strings and meandering piano. Spellbinding and mystifying as always, make sure to give it a listen if you want to join Flutters in her relaxation.
Einarx – Nightwatcher EP | Electronic
It’s been a good few months since Einarx’s last EP but his latest one, Nightwatcher, sees a real step up in production for one of Magnus Records’ most prominent contributors. We’ve already featured 3 of the 5 tracks on this EP here on the site, so I won’t go into full depth on this post. The songs range from melody-based dubstep and dnb, to some more hard hitting trap and electro house – a good reflection of the range of styles he has to offer. So if your tastes in music include the EDM umbrella, I can definitely recommend this EP to you.
You can download this EP on the Magnus Records bandcamp for absolutely free.
And that art by Marenlicious is pretty awesome too!
A Symphony Of Two – Unravel | Orchestral
NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 21 February 2017.
A Symphony of Two are back with more orchestral goodness, supplemented by some more orchestral music from a newer guy! ASoT’s piece beautifully melds their trademark strings with some lovely woodwind, and later on in the track some rumble-y percussive sounds that help to build an air of mysterious adventure.
Zephysonas – The Hour of Twilight | Orchestral
NB: This is an edited version of what was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 27 February 2017.
Zephysonas is back with a slowly building and powerful track about Twilight Sparkle. As more elements enter in throughout the piece, it becomes steadily more complex, which helps to convey a sense of increasing scale over time.
GhostXb – Not So Resilient | Orchestral
NB: This is an edited version of what was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 27 February 2017.
A swell effect occurs in this piece, however here it is done through clever increase of tension through the same elements becoming more and more taut and intense before a beautiful calm in the second half. A piece beautiful in its own ways, and well worth giving a listen!
Jyc Row – The Ancient Elements | Orchestral
NB: This is an edited version of what was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 26 February 2017.
Jyc explores the outer reaches of Equestria, with a piece inspired by this beautiful art from ziom05. It has a lot of his usual celtic influences that play a large part in the soundscape here, and there’s some great thudding percussion as well that helps to give the idea of an epic journey.
Aurelleah – From The Ashes | Orchestral
Editor’s note: Not to be confused with Sprocket’s song of the same name 😉
NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 18 February 2017.
If you like your orchestral music powerful and epic, you’re in for a treat here as Aurelleah’s released another of their well-crafted pieces. Featuring some beautiful composition and heavy percussive influences, the piece evolves from a bright and light beginning to a more energetic climax throughout the course of the track.
