When it’s about releasing new orchestral music, Ethan Toavs never fails to surprise us! This time with a song bringing harmony and peace to soothe our ears. A Guiding Light keeps us on our hooves with dynamic rhythm, while still giving long releases to calm our minds. So make yourself some tea, lay back, and let the relieving song take it from there!

Blackened Blue – Bring You Back (feat. Celica Soldream) | Nu-Metal
Blackened Blue blesses us with another banger! This time with a song about Trixie’s distress after losing someone close. Not only does it contain a collab with Celica Soldream – which gave me literal chills due to how well their voices sound together – but the whole rhythm and strength of the guitar, as well as the other instruments, clearly expresses the pain and sadness felt after a grief. Embark on a song that transforms the shadows of grief into a literal anthem of resilience!
TM – Forever [Remastered] | Plunderphonics
THE Toby Macaroni is back with an upgraded version of Forever, a piece written almost entirely from short pieces of many G4 songs. The compositional choices for song segments, as well as use of sound space are mesmerizing with how they work when played together and fun to challenge yourself to remember which songs they are from. The sensation that comes from listening to this track (especially through headphones!) cannot be adequately described, only experienced.
DAY21 – feel (Feat. Rawrity) | Pop / Electronica
Ethan Toavs – Battle of Destinies | Orchestral
It is amazing time and time again, from how little of things muscians can draw inspiration and weave entire stories, and Ethan Toavs brings us another perfect example of such with his “Battle of Destinies”. The whole piece manages to create and increase tension from start to its conclusion, starting off with a military rhythm of the drums, brass, woodwinds and strings first working together to introduce the orchestration used to the listener, just for those to exchange turns with each other. And as soon as the percussion switches to a more rocky style and the whole orchestration sets back in together, the song will make you vividly imagine the armies of Nightmare Moon and Daybreaker start charging each other, both sides hopeful for victory. So make sure to let this awesome piece of musical storytelling inspire you as well by giving it a listen!
RedWire – Never Satisfied | Drumstep
It’s probably fair to say RedWire is channelling strong Glaze energy in this song about Sombra, but that doesn’t make it any less original! The long introduction to this song builds plenty of suspense which falls into this interesting drop that keeps a driving rhythm whilst adding some tasty syncopation too. Lots of arpeggiating elements keep the long instrumental sections full of ear candy and RedWire’s heavily processed vocals bring the same heavy, dark atmosphere that Sombra’s shadow creates.
SCR4TCHK4T – snackpack (feat. rawrity) | Trap / Hyperpop
Little bit late to the party on this one but it’s too cute to miss! This fun little collab from SCR4TCH and rawr is a super danceable song about a cute mare and tasty snacks. The combination of snappy trap drums with very warm synth sounds underneath makes it feel both contemporary and nostalgic to me; perhaps evoking the same sense of longing for the foalhood snacks that it feels like you were enjoying just yesterday…
Anamore – Hoof to Heart Forever | Symphonic Rock
The G5 music train keeps on rolling with this song inspired by A New Generation from Anamore! It’s actually a new version of an older song of hers, now with her own lyrics and vocals and a re-worked instrumental with an eclectic mix of stylistic influences. Check it out if you need something with an uplifting feel or a reminder that friendship is forever!
Nexgen – Far And Wide (ft. gryf & Angel Melody) | Hip-Hop
“Far and Wide” is a lovely collaboration between three artists with Nexgen and Gryf each taking a verse to slam down bars and Angel Melody gluing them together with choruses. Gryf’s low voice slips perfectly into the ebb and flow of the instrumental with its higher pitched whistles, Angel Melody’s sections leave the listener longing for more with how her voice trails over the e-piano. Nexgen takes us home with the second verse, which continues to build up the character of the blade dancer, established in a release earlier this year. Overall, it’s a fun piece with its three characters all with very different agendas coming together.
Jeff Burgess & Sole Screwdriver – Birds of Paradise | Pop Rock
It’s always great hearing a new track by Jeff Burgess, especially one that is his first original track in about a year, and one of a few new pony-related tracks released in the past half decade or so. Joined by his friend, Sole Screwdriver, “Birds of Paradise” is a very airy & easy to listen to track with a light, yet energetic acoustic guitar leading the instrumentation. Jeff’s vocals are the cherry on top, showcasing that same amazing talent that creates that signature emotion behind all of his music. We’re going to be missing you for the next four years, Jeff. Hope all goes well with the Air Force. We can’t wait to hear what amazing music you’ll create when you’re back!
