Silva Hound – Dash Of Lightning | House

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 30 June 2018.

Silva Hound has another new tune out from his upcoming Equestrian Stories EP, this time focused on Lightning Dust. A somewhat anthemic house tune, the real highlight for me is the strings and vocal chorus in the break, which is sung by Namii, PrinceWhateverer, Lavender, Chi-Chi and Vylet.

[P@D] mikuma – Tap Out (feat. N. Hollow) | Future / Hip-Hop

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA this is the stuff right here my dude. P@D Rebirth was lit, but Tap Out has somethin’ special to it, you feel? Mikuma and Hollow teaming up is a very good thing. The beat itself is like sitting in the Rock&Roller coaster from Disneyland on LSD. Its so good and so relaxing and hyped up at the same time. Legit one of Mikuma’s best work. While going crazy with Hollows flow. Legit, from one rapper to another, I am fully confident in saying that Hollow is one of the most talented rappers here in this fandom. You can all go home now. Go to work, you ain’t getting above this. Its over. Buh-bye. Omg. (both of you keep it up man. ❤ )

Reverbrony – Kraken | Post-Metal

The depths of the ocean are scary and eternal, our ancestors before sailing the seas had fear of the mighty beasts that the oceans may hide. I guess that’s what fellow metal artist Reverbrony thought in making this song. 7 minutes of pure ethereal and atmospheric guitar riffs that put you inside the deep ocean, praying for your life. The “sludgyness” of the track plus with the various textures make this song really outstanding from the others that Reverbrony has produced. Is the Kraken real in Equestria? Did fellow sailorponies fear the depths of the sea? That will be a question for another episode. I recommend this track for fans of Post-Metal or any type of Doom/Sludge Metal. But everyone should listen to this! Keep up the good work Reverbrony!

Sky Runner – Empty | Drum & Bass

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 27 June 2018.

There’s sure been a bunch of this Delta-related stuff lately, but I’m not complaining if it means music as good as this! Sky Runner’s abilities to bring out the emotion in a composition is well on show here with lovely soft drums, melancholy piano and a gorgeous atmosphere.

Quicksilver – Fix My Head | Pop Punk

Quicksilver keeps the hits rolling with another fun track, and this time it is about Rarity’s punk hairdo from season 7. Quicksilver describes the emotional struggles Rarity faced having so much of her identity and public image lost to a bad hair mix-up. Fix My Head has all the traits of a classic 90s pop-punk hit: fast, fun guitars, a driving bass and moving percussion, and energetic vocals .

Frozen Night’s recent orchestral works have just been getting better and better, with the culmination of their efforts being their new album Into The Evernight. This track is the last to be released from it, and you can go buy the full collection of their most releases on Bandcamp here! Beyond that, this piece itself is full of gorgeous orchestration as it mixes epic sequences with some soft and beautiful ones, and a hint of guitar too.

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 22 June 2018.

The first part of Ponysphere’s land of harmony series came out some time ago, but the wait for this second part is evidently well worth the wait! With exceptional clean vocals from Secret Metal and some work on the instrumental portion of the song from Shurrikane and Osoch, this big collaborative work led by Ponysphere is full of amazing metal and orchestral stuff.

Notion – Who Walks In Your Dreams? (feat. Vylet Pony) | House

You know what they say, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! And it looks like Notion has created something that definitely isn’t broken. Almost a year ago Notion wrote a song, had someone with an amazing voice sing for it, and then had an excellent videographer make a video for it; and it was a great success!  And he has done it again! This time he has once again enlisted the extremely talented Vylet Pony to perform the vocals. Vylet’s style fits the theme of the piece perfectly and goes well with the synths. This song explores an interesting concept, who protects the protector? Luna protects many dreams from nightmares, but who protects her dreams? It is all tied together by another great PMV created by none other than Jack DC 93. This is a change from Jacks normal style, but it integrates perfectly with the song and its theme. All in all an excellent piece, hopefully we see more in the future!
