There’s a lot of returning faces in the music scene lately… Maressey, a large collaboration project based around ponified versions of The Smiths songs, has just returned after a 2 year gap with a ‘Some Mares…’, a parody of their song Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others. This track is one of many from their upcoming album ‘The TwiLuna Album’, and features Faux Snyder on vocals with Freewave performing the music. Snyder’s vocals are top-notch and fit perfectly with the genre, and Freewave’s musical skills make for a great tribute worthy of standing up to the original. TwiLuna doesn’t have a release date, but be sure to keep an eye out!
4EverfreeBrony – Little Dreams (Covering Vylet Pony) | Rock
4everfreebrony brings us another awesome cover, this time a Vylet Pony track! This cover adds a new and unique rock spin on the original, with both acoustic and electric guitar, drums and other rock elements setting the track aside from the original in an amazing way.
Feryl DeMarco – Cyan Eyed | Breakcore
Who is this Feryl DeMarco and where did she come from?! Whatever the case, this is her debut track, and what an impression she’s left. Cyan Eyed is an erratic breakcore piece, filled to the brim with crazy drum patterns along with unpredictable synth sounds as well as the inclusion of what sounds like wind instruments. Since this is DeMarco’s first release, we can only imagine what’ll come next. Keep your eyes out!
Daniel Ingram – The Magic of Friendship Grows (John Kenza Remix) | Melodic House
John Kenza is a gem. Making its debut at Ponyville CiderFest, this remix is yet another example of why I think these ponies’ voices were meant for this style of music. Kenza’s house beat blends perfectly with everyone’s voices as well as the slowly building song, climaxing with a bouncy house synth riff before fading out slowly with a slow piano rendition of the show’s theme. Prepare the tissues, because the emotion is real.
Tripon – Ascension | Neurofunk
Though the track had been released almost a year ago as part of the Equestrian Raves EP, it gets a YouTube release just now with some stunning visuals to go along with it. Tripon’s work of art underwent significant changes in terms of interpretation, now being not solely about Twilight’s coronation as the princess of friendship, but also about her assumption of the role of leader of Equestria, perhaps represented respectively by the first and the second drop. Said mind-blowing drops are interwoven with satisfying leads during the buildups and outro, and the middle-section includes some of that Neuro magic Tripon is a master of. Trading his signature ominous style for a more regal or divine one, this track is a tribute to the community and the show’s ending, and judging by the description, there’s still plenty of where that came from.
Night Blaze – Free Again | Orchestral
For whatever reason, this track feels inspiring. Maybe it’s the up-beat instrumental, or maybe it’s the fact that, even with the show being over, the community will never stop making masterpieces like this one. Or hey, maybe it’s both. This track’s pretty relaxing to listen to with it’s incredible instrumental music, complete with drums and a whole bunch of other stuff!
Toby Macarony – Wild Pegasus On You | Rock ‘n’ Roll
If there’s one thing Toby Macarony’s good at, it’s defying expectations. This track is a rock n’ roll piece that sounds like it was lifted straight from the 1950s. So many great elements are here: a catchy bassline, a prominent trumpet riff in front of some acoustic chords as well as some jazzy drums. Makes you really wanna grab a few drinks, doesn’t it?
Jyc Row – The Changeling Queen (feat. Maria Grigoryeva) | Orchestral
Jyc Row’s latest EP Legion is finally here, and this is just the beginning. Joining him on this track is violinist Maria Grigoryeva, whose musicianship really helps complete this epic piece about the changeling queen herself. Jyc is known for his orchestral mastery, but when joined with another musician in this field, whatever comes out is guaranteed to be amazing. Be sure to check out Legion on Bandcamp and buy a CD if you can!
Tw3Lv3 – Under the Rain | Lo-Fi
Tw3Lv3 never stops, does he? Track 6 from Release, this 5 minute long number sets off with a chilled out lo-fi vibe as we’ve come to expect from him. A melodic bassline carries the song along with soft yet erratic drums in front of orchestral-esque synths and the sound of falling rain. Grab yourself a blanket and some hot chocolate, because the rain is coming. Stay warm!
dBPony – The Journey Never Ends | Punk Rock
It’s been just over a month since the show ended, yet the tributes don’t stop pouring in. His second release since returning to the dBPony moniker, he delivers a fantastic tribute to the show’s legacy by way of a fast-paced punk rock track with glitzy synths and his amazing voice and harmonies. Enlisted to help him are a group of bronies contributing gang shouts throughout certain points of the song to drive the message home. With callbacks to the show and fandom such as a segment from the show with Celestia’s voice as well as references to Forest Rain’s Great To Be Different and closing the song with a soft rendition of the show’s theme tune, this fan tribute is everything you could ever ask for!
