Jensen has gifted us with his first remix of an official MLP song, “Shine like Rainbows” by Daniel Ingram. He takes a progressive house spin on the tune, starting out with a piano hammering the chords and gorgeous ethereal pads before jumping into the main groove with soaring synth leads. The middle continues to develop texture with acoustic guitar blending in nicely with all the synths. Overall, it’s a very introspective and thoughtful track, matching the original’s context as an end-credits song to Rainbow Rocks. Fantastic work!

ACIDASH – QUEEN MEANIE | Breakcore
ACIDASH’s latest track, “QUEEN MEANIE,” delivers an unrelenting sonic assault from the moment it begins. The track opens with a haunting wind-up before unleashing a fierce combination of distorted bass, warped vocal chops, and relentless old-school drum breaks. The chaotic energy mirrors the track’s namesake, Opaline, spiraling into madness with each pulsating beat. With its intense, face-melting melody and dark, twisted atmosphere, this breakcore masterpiece is a must-listen for fans of the genre seeking a truly wild ride.
Vylet Pony – Paintbucket (ft. Namii) | Trap Pop
Oh yes yes YES! Another banger from Vylet Pony featuring the incredible vocals of Namii, bringing forth this epic trap pop track! I adore the multiple samples throughout it. Together with the out-of-this-world lyrical and vocal acrobat-cy performed here. “Paintbucket” is absolutely a track to vibe to. And I commend Vylet for coming forward about the heavy topic on the discoveries and whether or not you’re “on the spectrum” through this song. Well done! Biggups! I look forward to writing for y’all again!
NeverLastStanding – “Go With Me (Farewell Version)” | Electronic
Premiering at Everfree Northwest 2023, this emotional track was the end of a special back-to-back set between NeverLastStanding and loophoof (who contributed the visuals to the video). Being that it was the last song of the last set of the convention, the credits include the names of various convention staff, as well as pictures with memories of loophoof and NLS hanging out with friends at various meetups outside of conventions they’ve attended. That, complete with fantastic vocals by NLS, makes for a heartfelt track that really speaks to the meaning of friendship.
Be sure to also check out their full set for an emotional roller coaster that you won’t soon forget!
PumpkinZ – Clear the Rain | Kawaii Future Bass
PumpkinZ ‘s Future Bass track, “Clear the Rain” is a fun piece that manages to be both calm and driving in equal measure. It is their first attempt at producing music of the kawaii genre, and
it is a pleasant mix of calmer sections with a nice plethora of risers and drops — I could write to this music all night long. Quick and upbeat, it is enjoyable music that deserves all the love it might acquire.
Sound Bandit – The Most Amazing Story | Plunderphonics
PumpkinZ – If Only | Downtempo
PumpkinZ’s “If Only” is a simple, but elegant Luna themed track. It starts minimally, with a single synth crescendo-ing, and from there it builds, adding a plucked synth along the way, and finally reaching the final riser and landing that sweet drop! Its mellow bass, crisp bass and snare, and bright chiptune-esque synths make the second half of the song so seductive, and its gradual fading out is a nice finishing touch. It’s a very calm and relaxing track, so make sure to check it out!
_ssynae – nonefidence (prod. bea) | Hyperpop
Boyd, Confalone, & Bustamante – Photo Booth [Ice Angel Remix] | Progressive House
Ice Angel’s keeping the love for Equestria Girls alive with an absolutely delightful remix of “Photo Booth” released earlier this year. The track starts by mellowing out the bass line, adding soft guitar and an ever so subtle touch of mallet-like synths to make a sparkling texture. But don’t get too used to that instrumentation–the chorus is dominated with big synth arpeggios and even a cow bell thrown in for fun! It switches things up later on by swapping the house beat with a drum and bass groove. Overall, the song’s is upbeat and euphoric, a lovely banger sure to raise your spirits!
SpinScissor – Father of Forever | Experimental
Like its name suggests, “Father of Forever” by SpinScissor strikes a very eternal and introspective vibe. It’s an experimental electronic track which fully explores a variety of unique sounds, with glitches, harsh synths, and crazy modulations. At times, it sounds like a house track with its strong kick and snare click, and this contrasts the existential musings of the lyrics. Spin’s smooth vocals decorate the track, both in the foreground but also in the background, soaked with delay, reverb, and panning automation to build up its eerie texture. There’s also a spoken word section which breaks down the broken relationship between Sweetie Bot and her maker.
This is only the first track of SpinScissor’s Sweetie Bot themed EP which released this year, so make sure to check that out for more sound design goodness!
