Thrasher has the reputation of making some seriously hard-hitting metal over the past few P@D albums. His take on doing something on Tempest Shadow? Oh boy, how about playing up to Tempest’s cold and calculating temperament that leads to her killer instinct! The brake bones, hardcore metal screaming into your ears mixed with these waves of trance, with a taste of reggae, a fascinating but compelling fusion. It is just the picture you see of Tempest on another bounty she must take down for Equestria. This is wild on P@D Zenith. As always, this Qilin asks you to judge for yourself.
Misc
[P@D] Michael Picher, RedSpark, Ethan Toavs, Repent & Frozen Night – Changelings On A Theme | Orchestral
In a fine exhibition on P@D: Zenith, the orchestral bronies community flexes its muscles to show how deep they are. As these five gentlemen show, a music sheet is only the blueprint. The same song with different elements and styles can have some beautiful results when you have creative music-making like this. A different story in tone and mood with how Princess Celestia had her first real encounter with Thorax and the reformed changelings just by how a song is composed! Delightful on the ears! As always, this Qilin asks you to judge for yourself.
ararix135 – A Tune for ‘Shy | Soundtrack
This piece instantly grabs my attention with its repeating acoustic arpeggios and the beautiful piano melody accompanying it! The rises and falls of the melody are catchy and the overall song just fits Fluttershy’s vibe. Free and cheerful, and has that sense of scope and wonder that makes you want to explore the great outdoors!
Koa – Background pt. 2 | Pop
Who doesn’t love a good sequel? Acting as the Bon Bon counterpart to a recent Lyra song, Background pt. 2 is a softer song that encapsulates her feelings for Lyra. The instrumentation is more minimal, leaving more room for Koa’s vocals and the words she sings, yet every part of the composition has its role and fits together nicely.
√ Σ † ∫ & ATR – Mathie Sings The End Of The World | Alternative/Experimental
In case you missed The Rest of Our Lives last summer, here is one great reminder to go grab that album! Mathematicus & And The Rainfall craft a gorgeously dark and encapsulating soundscape as the backdrop to this narrative of Twilight discovering something is not quite right. A bold experiment for soundscape, “Mathie Sings The End Of The World” is incredibly original and a fun deviation from any expectations for fandom music!
Childlike Wonder – Ponk | Lo-fi / Hip-Hop
An underrated treasure from last month, Childlike Wonder mixes a lo-fi, and at times jazzy, backing instrumental with a creative rap which combines a stylistic flow with lyrics from an egotistical pink pony. Throw in a some Pinkie Pie vocal chops and a great video loop for the song, and you’ve got a can’t miss hit!
Toby Macarony – Glitchy Vitchy | Jazz / Glitch-Hop
Toby’s got a bit of a reputation with his unique approach to music; transcending and blending genres is what he’s best known for in some circles and this song is no exception! What starts off sounding like a solemn bluesy jazz number quickly transforms into something energetic and spooky. It turns out shuffled walking basslines and punch “tombstone” drums make a great combination – who knew?
4everfreebrony – Brighter Days Ahead | Ambient
4everfreebrony’s most recent installment of his Tranquil Tuesdays series offers us a track with equal measures of warm and refreshing vibes. Sweet synth and bell arpeggios sprinkle delicately over a confident, optimistic piano piece, painting a pleasant sonic picture with just a hint of bitter-sweetness.
Synthis – All My Fears | Pop
Synthis is back again with another absolute banger. It’s good to know the homie is still out there and I hope all goes well with him! Here we have a nice song with lovely synths and funky ambient melodies expressed through both instruments and vocals that grasp you. Just the entire vibe of the track and the words sung out can definitely resonate with people. I won’t sugarcoat it; life can indeed be a frightening experience, and you’ll only see who really has your back when EVERYTHING goes wrong… But believe in the hope that this song alludes to, that things WILL get better. I hope this song reaches the people who need to hear it and know what Synthis is singing about. HMH is therefore, at your service. Happy listening!
Koa x TCB – Background pt. 1 | Pop
NB: mild language warning
A motivating track about Lyra Heartstrings, as told through Koa’s uplifting pop vocals and TCB doing his magic with mixing and creating. Lyra fans are sure to get into a good mood from this collab. Taken from Koa’s “In Your Eyes” Album, this track sends aan authentic message of being yourself, showing others what you bring to the table, and claiming your spotlight. TCB blasts this head-moving and grooving vibe that is NOT shy about being colorful! The guitar-like synths are a nice touch. Those addicting drops will have you bopping your head in rhythm to Lyra’s message of “flipping the perception of your own story!”. As always, This Qilin asks you to judge for yourself.
