[P@D] Idyllia – Mare Cognitum (feat. Velvet R. Wings) | Symphonic Metal

Ever wonder what the sounds of Princess Luna’s dream duties are like? This may be a good indication. The sounds of hard and swift guitars. Quick as night drums in the sounds of nightmares. Serene cords and brass of an orchestra for more pleasant and bliss dreams. The sound of a singing Alicorn princess coming to aid you in your troubles.

The Mare Cognitum, could not be a better name for a song about the Lunar Princess. The sound of mythical heavy metal with blissful vocals that sound from the realm of dreams. That is track 57 on P@D Ignite. Newcomer Idyllia seems to know the power of Symphonic Metal. The layering of how the composition flows, seems to tell different parts of Luna’s dream duties. Intense yet phantasmal metal. Flowing into this mythical score of orchestral. Luna does have a voice and it belongs to one Velvet R. Wings as she sermonizes the sound of Luna spreading peace into your mind, fighting the horrors of your nightmares. One of the better Princess Luna songs I’ve heard recently and another fine track for this album. As always, this Qilin asks you to judge for yourself.

[P@D] Frozen Night & Michael Picher – In The Everfree Torch Light | Ambient/Orchestral

In a clash of the titans, track 70 from Ponies at Dawn: Ignite sees orchestral musicians Frozen Night and Michael Picher unite to create something worth marvelling. In The Everfree Torch Light is an ambient orchestral piece with lots of mysterious and adventurous vibes all around, featuring those signature Frozen Night ambient quirks. The phases this track goes through are spectacular, showcasing a dark vibe as if the weather’s taking a turn for the worse but then adding a brief build up 3 minutes in with some optimistic percussion additions. Overall, this track goes to show that two heads are better than one, and Frozen Night’s collabs never disappoint!

Cloud Hop – Endgame | Hybrid Orchestral

Today marks the grand return of orchestral and electronic musician Erik McClure, better known as Cloud Hop! Endgame is his first release since April 2019, and serves as the closing track to his new album, Dreams of Distant Stars. The song, for its part, is inspired by the final battle of the show, incorporating electronic drums sounds in front of the orchestral background, painting an image of the Equestrian forces building up confidence to finally take on the Tartarus Trio. Towards the end, there’s even a key change which makes this piece sound more dynamic and emotional, sounding like the final buildup to a battle of epic proportions. Kinda like this track, really. Cloud Hop definitely hasn’t lost his charm!

RoomVR – Kyradeen’s Melody EP | Piano Solo / Ambient

I am writing this as I experience the EP as a whole for the first time. I have been so excited for this for so long <33 ahhh this intro, so innocent and exploratory, and so evocative, classic RoomVR style ❤ once the lower notes of the piano begin to move, you really start to feel it! And the ambience of the Gentle seaside Breeze just calms your soul and begs you to relax and enjoy it. aaahhh, and when Peace and Quiet comes in, it just washes over you so smoothly ❤ This track was featured on the recent Ponies At Dawn album, Ignite. It’s such a beautiful, uplifting, peaceful seaside melody, just makes you want to get your hooves in the sand and go for a walk! I absolutely love the way she’s able to constantly keep the listener’s attention, even with simply a piano and an ocean ❤ And now as the sun sets, the Orange Skies grasp the listener, using a really beautiful, unique chord structure, adding a little density and color, while still maintaining that wonderfully peaceful RoomVR vibe! as an aside, please note how adorable Kyradeen is!!! Roomie’s OC is just the cutest thing <3333 AH AND NOW THE SUN SETS!!! These ambient pads and strings make their first appearance in this EP, and they could not be more welcome! Lush and inviting, and cool, I can feel the breeze cooling as the heat of the sun dissipates, now below the horizon, and the moon begins to show her face ❤ To wrap up, we’ll Reminisce on the wonderful evening we just experienced… and what a beautiful evening it was! I can imagine lil Kyradeen wandering around, watching the sun set, listening to the sounds of the ocean and the birds flying overhead…

This EP is one I have anticipated for a long time, and one I cannot wait to purchase and own for myself! (you should too!) I’m so glad to see this lovely girl back from hiatus, and I look forward to so much more <3333

Koron Korak – The Spectacle (Covering Daniel Ingram) | Symphonic Rock

There’s been many covers of The Spectacle over the years, and Koron Korak is the latest one to do this! His more symphonic take on the original adds strong live drums, a distorted guitar track and even a violin as the lead instrument, replacing Lena Hall’s voice. You don’t wanna miss out on this one, since it’s a… spectacle!

Jonny Music & Yensid Organist – Open Up Your Eyes (Organ Cover) | Organ Solo

The MLP movie soundtrack has plenty of bangers, and Open Up Your Eyes is one of them. Jonny Music and Yensid Organist have come together to create a fresh arrangement of the song on a church organ, and good thing too, because this song translates perfectly to the instrument. All of Emily Blunt’s vocal lines, the chords and soft instruments seen in the original fit perfectly here; the organ really captures the menacing tone we heard in the original!

[P@D] Wandering Artist – Fire City (Night & Day) | Orchestral

We’ve had all kinds of music already showcased on P@D: Ignite. Rock, Rap and the many genre’s of dance music. So track 72 of the album. I bring you some breathtaking orchestra scores! Wandering Artist brings the sequel to his score “Sky City. With night being serene with small builds up with the arrangement, of the strings and brass with night sounds mixed in there for a nice touch. As the sun comes out the score becomes more vibrant showcasing more uses of the strings, brass and piano. I feel like you on the back of Luna as she charges through the night and into the day where you join Celestia in full run. This sounds like something out of classic JRPG and is just wow. I think anyone can get behind musical scores such as this. This was a nice piece for this album!. As always, This Qilin asks you to judge for yourself.

[P@D] BlueBrony – The Sacking of Griffonstone (feat. CadetRedShirt) | Soundtrack

Time to turn out the lights for such an extravagant listening experience. Track 59 from Ponies at Dawn: Ignite is The Sacking of Griffonstone, a soundtrack composition from BlueBrony featuring the vocal talents of CadetRedShirt. This piece tells a story about the fall of Griffonstone just through the power of music. Beginning with a brooding set of strings, the duo’s voices sing in unison in an eerie fashion as the music builds up with satisfying crescendos all around. Overall, it  paints a brutal mental image of the land crumbling, leaving what was once a beautiful city in ruin.
