Musical experiments in the dark must be so fun! Our awesome drummer friend Whirlwind gave it a try and golly, that is such an intense atmosphere! And along with those faded vocal samples, it really is spooky. Not to mention that only-slightly disturbing cover art! A very successful experiment for sure!
Original
Rarity Advocate – Blossomforth | Soft Rock
After their piece about Rarity, Rarity Advocate’s back with another tribute to the background pony Blossomforth, and this one is much different! This track is a rather stripped down number, consisting of a guitar and bass, plus what sounds like a melodic bell. A clean guitar riff reminiscent of a midwest emo song from the 90s is the most prominent element and carries the song right up to the end. Ponies like Blossomforth need more love!
Valesi – Winter Village | Piano Solo
It seems more and more fandom musicians have been returning from long breaks these days. This time it’s Valesi, who’s just uploaded a soft piano track inspired by an Equestrian winter. Their first upload in three years as well as their first MLP-related track since 2015 (!!!), it comprises of a solo piano that cycles through a handful of motifs that all seem to give off the feeling of walking through a cold, yet homely path. It’s amazing what you can do with just a piano to carry a tune.
Zaphirom Rashir – Twi’s Dream | Downtempo
This song has a lot of synth, some keyboard, and a little bit of drum that all work together to make an excellent and relaxing piece of music. It’s not too fast, not too slow, and is definitely filled with emotion and passion.
FrøstFyre – Insanity | Complextro
This is an EDM of fully diverse Insanity is as I like to say. An earful to take in from FrøstFyre. I guess that’s logical. Given this tune is supposed to embody the inside of Bookhorse’s complex mind. You will travel to every part of her brain with this maze of this very cool and unique musical composure. It’s fast, it’s wacky, it’s different. As always, This Qilin asks you to judge for yourself. And try not to freak out like our adorkable Alicorn.
Bitl, Choruscation & Heartsong – Rising Dawn | Album | Orchestral
In the memory of Stormfall Drizzle, Bitl, Choruscation and Heartsong crafted heartfelt tributes in the way of deep and meaningful Orchestral beauties. The very emotional Stormfall’s Lullaby, Nimbus acting like a perfect requiem, the progressive and melodic masterpiece Stormfall from Heartsong that incidentally yet fittingly calls back to the melody from Skyrim’s main theme, and the collab Sisters Forever that includes quotes of great life advice from Stormfall, are all paying much tribute to our late friend and showing once more the big heart of our community. The album is available on Bandcamp here! Also check out the B-Sides!
Spikey Wikey – Booty Time | Trap
Saucy visuals warning! Another track available on the newly-released album Party’s Over, this daring experiment is certainly bringing the fun and joining Pinkie’s Element that way! Featuring art by OmegaOzone, the saucy Trap beat has Pinkie herself presenting her… assets, thanks to masterful vocal chopping, not without reminding of the art present in some MLPYTP. Definitely an awesome initiative!
Crusader! – My Dragon Waifu | Pop Punk
Perhaps echoing the classic Tubby Wubby Pony Waifu, Crusader wrote an upbeat yet rocking tune about the #1 dragon waifu choice Ember! This is sure to please the enthusiasts of Tsundember love, with the catchy anthem conveying all of our feelings in harmony, along Crusader’s lovely vocals!
Spikey Wikey – Party’s Over VIP | Gabber
We’re all mad here… A most tasteful re-imagining of Party Of One, this story-centered renewed take on the collab Party’s Over by Spikey has also got a short fanfic to go along with it (dark content warning!), and by reading it prior you really get to appreciate all the next-level story-telling in the track! This is part of a brand new album from the musician, also titled Party’s Over!
Viricide Filly – This Place Will Never Let Me Leave | Album | Experimental / House
Viricide Filly brings around a brand new and brilliantly experimental album named This Place Will Never Let Me Leave. Introduce yourself with the title track, a melodic exposition that shows to you the noisy ambitions and grainy invasions of the album. Stick around for the trance-like air and eerie vocal samples of Face Your Fears, You’ll Disappear and All As Small As You, the sinister, silent, and uncannily ambient finisher On the Other Side of the City, and the crunch of the melodies in Glacia Maxima. Eleanor’s Elegy, acting as my personal favorite on the album, incorporates intricate rhythms and piercingly melodic chords. Industrial influences run strong with this one, especially with the track climbingclimbingclimbingCLIMBING. Such influences make it very reminiscent of witch house. This album also includes a consistent narrative to it, shown by the artist’s description and naming. If you wish for a refreshing interpretation of house music, I’ve no doubt this album will satisfy any of those yearnings.
