Royalpony & Cosine – In Our Minds | Hardstyle

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 8 April 2018.

Royalpony’s hardstyle, when it’s at its best, is super fun to listen to, and there’s a couple of great examples here! Here he’s teamed up with Cosine to produce an unofficial anthem for the recently passed BABScon, and it’s full of uplifting melodies alongside that signature hardstyle kick.

Crystarium – Brother | Glitch-Hop

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 6 April 2018.

After a while since any new music from him, Crystarium returns with some melodic vocal glitch hop-y goodness. It’s one of my favourite genres, and the groove is present throughout the track with some lovely composition complementing plenty of sound design that orients itself around the strong chord progressions.

Kelvin C. H. Reverie – A Day in Apple Farm | Orchestral

Kelvin C. H. Reverie, previously known as Sonic Hooves is back with some more Applejack-themed music. Blending orchestral and acoustic together, we end up with this relaxing “country style waltz”, which also sounds like it could fit into a fantasy game soundtrack…probably not necessarily intended but still a nice consequence.

March was a great month for compilation albums, with a brand new major Ponies At Dawn album, a new volume of Horse Music Central music, and a winter-themed EP curated by Cider Party. With so many single releases from other artists too, we’ve had a great variety to choose from this month!

Frozen Night – Cosmic Dream | Symphonic Metal

Frozen Night is back with another one of his masterpieces! Cosmic Dream evokes visions of soaring through the aether on wings of starlight. He perfectly blends atmospheric effects and burning guitars into a distilled draught of energy. Throughout the song, it’s easy to picture Celestia flying through the ionosphere, casting her mighty spell to raise the sun once more.

[P@D] UndreamedPanic – Battle For The Castle | Bass House

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 5 April 2018.

UndreamedPanic’s last few releases have been more upbeat house tracks, but he’s back to the heavy stuff again here with an awesome combination of bass house and dubstep sound design. The combination of powerful melodic breaks with groovy aggressive drops definitely suits the battle scene, so make sure to check it out!

Velvet R. Wings – Cutie-H Equestria | New Wave / Synthpop

With the instrumental produced by the amazing Andy Feelin, Velvet brings the 80’s Pop vibes with this song. The lyrics were amazing and Velvet vocals were on point. A true example of how brony music evolves! Good job Velvet! Keep up the good work!

PS: If you comment on this video and give to Velvet your postal code via private message, you will recive a postcard! The example is shown in the thumbnail of the video!

[P@D] Quadrivia – Filly Seekers | Complextro

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 2 April 2018.

Quadrivia is one is of the best bass designers in the fandom, so it’s great to hear some new pony tunes from her after some time since the last stuff. Featuring some excellent use of vocals from the cutie mark crusaders, this spiritual successor to ‘Filly Busters’, a track from 2016, is full of awesome powerful synth design and great heavy complextro wubs.

Vylet Pony – Ember | Indie Pop / Chillout

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 2 April 2018.

A new track from Vylet’s recently released EP Our Light And Ever After, this is certainly one of Vylet’s most beautiful tracks yet in my opinion. The vocals through the track are excellently performed and come across really heartfelt, whilst the minimalist instrumental manages to combine a chilled out feel with some wonderful depth and emotion.

Sonic Hooves (Kelvin H.C. Reverie) – Song from the Earth Pony | Acoustic

Sonic Hooves has always been great with composition and emotional impact in his music. Yet every time a new track comes out, there’s a reason to stop and say “Wow, this is really good!” Song from the Earth Pony is a gorgeous piece made up of just two acoustic guitars, yet the melody is incredible. There’s a reflective notion in the style and it really helps emphasize the pride in being a hardworking earth pony. The track itself isn’t particularly long, and there is no excuse not to check it out!
