Hay Tea – Alternate History VIP | Drum & Bass

Hay’s original version of this came out several months ago, but it’s always nice to hear revamped versions of already stellar tracks. It doesn’t differ hugely from the original, but as Hay Tea puts it himself, ‘New drums, new bass, new mix and better mastering’. Higher quality sounds are always appreciated.

PhonicB∞m – Pensive | Chillout

Phonic’s been experimenting a bit it seems – this chillout piece makes use of both ambient sound effects as part of the percussion and quirky wobbling bass sounds. An interesting hybrid of sounds that works surprisingly better than my less-than-apt description of them!

Filly in the Box – The Fabric | Neurofunk

Empowered by some amazing inspirations, Filly in the Box continues to delight and impress with those masterfully crafted pieces of original music full of rare sounds. Pioneering in sound design and embracing all the darker musical moods, The Fabric also makes awesome use of pony vocal samples. Definitely a feast everytime!

Night Blaze & KennyDash – Dreams Keeper | Soundtrack

Here we’ve got an amazing piece from Night Blaze and KennyDash that just feels like the perfect comfy BGM to have playing in the background of such a tender scene depicted by the cover art. The musicians do an awesome job at keeping a great progression and coming up with very OST-like melodies, even delivering an emotional guitar part further on. A real bliss!

Einarx – The Bats (feat. Zompony) | Trap

Another release from Einarx’s upcoming Nightwatcher EP, this Trap treat gathers the help of Zompony and plays out in both cool and sick fashion, as the fear of vampire ponies arises again in the dankest musical ways. If there was a club in Equestria for bat ponies, I’m pretty sure the manager would be a vampire pony… and I can imagine very well this track playing there as many bat ponies jam to the beat and the Trap vibes!

Trixent – Dimension Hugger | Drum & Bass

Now onwards to the darker side of Drum & Bass thanks to our friend Trixent, we welcome his new release that isn’t short of the gritty sound design and unusual structures that the musician is now known for. Laying out over 6 minutes of musical bliss, this journey deep in pitch-black Drum & Bass will tingle your senses with delightfully eerie sounds and a masterful progression full of aggressive kicks and bass, as you get the musical embodiment of our favorite hippie pony transcending time and space to other dimensions courtesy of the Lord of Chaos himself (more info in the comments section). What could be her musical motif even appears during the track! A much inspired and amazing piece indeed. Darkness isn’t to be feared!

[PP] Dynamite Grizzly – Moondancing All Alone | Breakcore

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 8 February 2017.

Dynamite Grizzly has made a bunch of cool new music recently, and you can find a bunch of it, along with this track, on their new album The Horses Really Like Techno. This is possibly one of the zanier tracks on the album, and features an interesting and diverse range of sounds with some quieter sections interspersed with crazy breakcore drum sections and some great vocal sampling throughout.

Romstar – Winter’s Wrapped Up | Electronic

I didn’t know about Romstar before this track came up, but I sure have been very impressed and delighted when I listened to their whole discography! I downloaded every single track available in FLAC, too, that goes to tell how good it is. (You can find most of the older tracks from Romstar available for free download here, I highly recommend them, amazing stuff!) And this new release is certainly a feast as well, with many unusual sounds inspired from Chiptune, sweet melodies, starry reverb, sci-fi/fantasy synths reminiscing of FF13’s musical mood, and a progression full of many wonders. Winter’s Wrapped Up again, and in the most delightful musical ways!

A Symphony Of Two – Nature’s Wonders | Orchestral

Those who know me know that I’m a huge lover of Nature, and music, and OST, so tracks like these are just my weakness. It starts in a musical “sunny forest” theme of incredible beauty that is just so soothing, just like ambling inside a forest would. It uses winds and mandolin that are perfect for the job, and it is also subtly reminiscing of works from composers such as Motoi Sakuraba, like the fittingly-named Relaxing Place. The track then progresses into a deeper, darker part with strings, reflecting adventuring further down the tree-shadowed paths in the forest. The calm winds melodies certainly convey very well that sense of wonder and feeling at peace with the world around you, while the strings are keeping that adventurous, exploration spirit up. The next part is giving a very regal and gorgeous mood, fitting for a forest’s untold beauty and the due respect we are bound to give it. The piece ends in a finale softly completing the musical experience of the blissful “walk”. The whole track is paying much tribute to Nature in a delightful musical way, and I can’t thank the musicians enough for their awesome work creating such amazing music that hits me spot on. Don’t forget to show your support to A Symphony Of Two if you enjoy their works too!
