The Shake Ups have another song from their album ROCK CANDY for us. Known for their fun “power pop” songs, this one is no exception, and attempts to tackle the age old question of “cupcake or muffin?” I say, why not both?!

The Pieces – In Our Town | Indie
Something new from the A Little Bit For Charity project, where indie bands cover mlp songs for charity. This time it’s a cover of Our Town by a band called The Pieces. It’s got an…interesting vocal style, it’s something a little bit different, shall we say?
P1K – Ignorance and Bliss | Punk Rock
You may have seen him at the pony musicians panel at EFNW 2016, it’s P1K aka Pony1Kenobi, and he’s back with a delightful rock tune for us all to enjoy! Don’t forget, rather than getting blinded by the bliss of ignorance, always reach out to the truth! (bonus points to anypony getting that reference)
Quicksilver – I Can Relate | Hard Rock
Both as a celebration of reaching 500 subscribers, and in anticipation of his upcoming album, Quicksilver has posted a new song from the soon to be released Six And One. A hard rock song for the toughest mare in Ponyville, this one’s for Applejack and her good old dedication. Congrats on reaching 500 subs Quicksilver, looking forward to the album!
Horse Music Hotspot – May 2016 [P@D: Awakening Special]

Our May episode of the Hotspot is up! You can listen back to it on YouTube, on SoundCloud, or using your favourite podcast app (click here for more info). To listen in live, tune in to Ponyville FM at 10pm Eastern on the last Sunday of each month!
A special extended edition of the hotspot this month to celebrate the release of Ponies At Dawn: Awakening not too long ago. We chose our favourite songs from the album to showcase at the start of the show, followed by our usual picks from the last month.
Embeds and full tracklist available after the break.
Frozen Night – Heartstrings | Atmospheric Metal
Ambiant, Orchestral and Metal composer Frozen Night completes the reflective setting of the artwork with a beautiful, melodic, uplifting yet soothing Atmospheric Metal track, and even its name is implying emotion! Gaze at that somptuous view of the Crystal Empire while letting the magic from the music happen…
The L-Train presents the Royal Canterlot Symphonic Metal Orchestra – Fall of an Empire | Symphonic Metal
After 18 months in the making, and marking the longest and biggest project he’s ever created, The L-Train proudly presents to us Fall of an Empire, an opera by the Royal Canterlot Symphonic Metal Orchestra. His second symphonic rock opera, following Moonrise from early 2014, this 50-minute epic tells the rise and fall of King Sombra, and features contributions from dozens of talented artists from the fandom. Take a seat, put on your best headphones, and prepare for a musical journey unlike any other. Full album opera writeup after the break.
Quicksilver – Blur | Ska
Start your morning off with a BANG with some Dashie-themed ska from Quicksilver. This track comes in anticipation of his upcoming album, Six and One, due to be released on June 1st! You know what that means? TIME FOR HYPE! 😀
idkQuicksilver – Luna’s Future (Covering Daniel Ingram) | Metal
Here we have a short but sweet metal arrangement of Luna’s Future from idkQuicksilver with Aloma Steele’s vocals fitting alongside VERY nicely. I hope we get to see more 8-string guitar action from Quicksilver soon, it’s sounding fantastic!
Soul Strings – Lost Dimension III | Post-Rock
Hope y’all are ready for something big. Soul Strings has just released a third part to his Lost Dimension series (have some links to part 1 & part 2), a collection of epic instrumental post-rock tracks based around a good deal of ethereal headcanon and what seems like fanfic ideas. Regardless, it’s pretty awesome, go take a listen!
