Forest Rain – Great to be Different (feat. Decibelle) [10th Anniversary] | Soft Rock/Ballad

A lot changes over ten years time. People grow and change, cartoons come and go, schools get built and new rulers are brought to power, but the beauty and impact of one of the cornerstones to the early fandom music scene never wanes. Forest Rain celebrates the 10 year anniversary of the release of her love letter to Derpy with this updated masterpiece which enlists the help of over 10 fandom musicians, including the voice of Derpy from the original track, Decibelle. So much time has passed, yet the impact and beauty of a single moment is just as beautiful and mesmerizing today as it was in 2012.

4everfreebrony – Breathless (feat. FrizyBeat) [covering Ruiness] | Soft Rock

Time for a bit of a throwback for this one! As part of 4EFB’s newest collection of brony cover songs (also just released!), he and Fritzy decided to create their own version of Breathless by Ruiness. The original is a bit of a cult classic – Ruiness are (justifiably) revered in certain brony music circles – so hopefully these two can help shine some light on their work. This rendition sees a nice blend of electronica, acoustic elements and electric guitar work, and 4EFB and Fritzy’s soft, soothing vocals suit it perfectly.

PrinceWhateverer – Ghost in the Sun – Metal

The trials of sisterhood between Celestia and Luna and the stories told before the “Friendship is Magic” series are still evolving even as fanfiction has been created for years in this fandom. Ghost in the Sun stands out with deep emotional and psychological turmoil between the sisters. PrinceWhateverer zones in and locks you deep into the minds of the overarching events. The extremely hard melodies of heavy metal only act as a lightning rod to pull you in more to feel that you are right there watching things play out. As always, this Qilin asks you to judge for yourself.

[P@D] Thrasher – Fall Again | Metal / Trance

Thrasher has the reputation of making some seriously hard-hitting metal over the past few P@D albums. His take on doing something on Tempest Shadow? Oh boy, how about playing up to Tempest’s cold and calculating temperament that leads to her killer instinct! The brake bones, hardcore metal screaming into your ears mixed with these waves of trance, with a taste of reggae, a fascinating but compelling fusion. It is just the picture you see of Tempest on another bounty she must take down for Equestria. This is wild on P@D Zenith. As always, this Qilin asks you to judge for yourself.

[P@D] Koa & BlueBrony – Maybe I’m Not | Pop Rock

If you listened to P@D: Zenith, you may have heard this little track about Marble Pie. However, as BlueBrony has said performing this live with Koa: “This song is about anyone who feels like they struggle with self-worth or doesn’t belong.” The melodies build up from a soft piano to a most triumphant rock ballad that will indeed have you feeling like you do matter! Lyrics are just emotional and heart-felt of how genuine and beautiful Koa and BlueBrony sing with a message, Every brony who hears this can feel it in the very fiber of their beings. As always, This Qilin asks you to judge for yourself.

4everfreebrony – I Don’t Know | Pop Rock

When you’re the leader, “I don’t know” is not an option, even if you don’t have any answers.

The message of this song is beautiful and talks about the perspective of leaders, of which are expected to have all the answers even when they don’t. Forced to use temporary measures or distractions to avoid saying “I don’t know”.

A hopeful and thought provoking message mixed with a ballad of acoustic and piano; 4everfree knocks it out of the park once more!

[P@D] Metajoker – Write Me Your Heart (feat. 4everfreebrony) | Alt Rock

The duo of Metajoker and 4everfreebrony come together with a message from Princess Cadance. Yes, you heard right, a Cadance track on P@D: Zenith. Metajoker takes the role of what Cadance sees in love today and preaches for looking for real love. The line “love is never perfect, nothing good is ever perfect” sounds like something princess of love would say. The vocals are beautiful, thoughtful, and meaningful to what Cadance wants ponies to find. 4everfreebrony provides his insanely good guitar work to this track to fuel the message behind it. As always, this Qilin asks you to judge for yourself. More good Cadance tracks, please!

SnowShovel – Fly Higher (Feat. ProtoShadez) | Hard Rock

Rainbow Dash Vs. Lighting Dust; a rivalry to be remembered fondly by this fandom as some of the best moments of character growth for Rainbow Dash. RD fans like myself will point you to this fact. SnowShovel and ProtoShadez’s take on this confrontation comes into the theme of each of them trying to get the upper hand. The sick grungy guitar work symbolizes this war of speed and finesses, the desire to be the best and who gets to the fly with the ‘Bolts! Shadez’s vocals display claims from Dashie and Lightning Dust about who’s the better Pegasus! Special nod to PrinceWhateverer for his contribution of drums in the track as well! As always, this Qilin asks you to judge for yourself.

TheHeatRush – Great To Be Different Ft. Synthfox (Covering Forest Rain) | Alt Rock

A true fandom classic! This cover comes complete with an original instrumental composed specifically for the track. From the moment the more prominent horn section first hits your ears, you know you’re in for Something Special (see what I did there?). TheHeatRush‘s vocals are clean, strong, and easy to listen to, while Derpy’s goosebumps-inducing vocals (supplied by Synthfox) are enough to make your heart melt. This remake stays faithful to Forest Rain’s original song (a must-listen, especially if you’ve never heard it before) while adding an original flair, reminding you that you’re listening to a unique arrangement. The harmony at the end of the track is beautiful, the perfect end to an already amazing composition.

Blackened Blue – Fall Apart | Alternative Metal

Blackened Blue really never fails to disappoint, after premiering this song at both Griffish Isles and Eponafest, here is the studio cut! Amazing vocals, heavy riffs, an earth shattering solo, and a chorus that’ll stay in your head for quite some time, and some screams to finish everything of! This track is a fun bit of metal and no matter how big of a metal head you are, this is going to be just the track for you!
