Painters & Poets – Follow | Alternative Rock

Painters & Poets fly onto the scene with their debut song, Follow! P&P is a supergroup consisting of Acouste Wholenote and SlightlyAmiss, the former being the primary lyricist. Follow is a beautiful rock song that depicts a scenario between Scootaloo and Rainbow Dash, where the former sits about all upset about the fact that she can’t fly… yet. For a good chunk of the track, it’s lead by an acoustic guitar, with the occasional burst of distorted guitars in the chorus, though the song finally comes to life after the second chorus, where the guitars come in full force, even throwing in a couple admirable solos! The song closes out with some nice closure, showing that Scootaloo can, in fact, fly and chase her dreams. What a great first impression this group has left us!

MelodyBrony – DreamCatcher | Melodic Hardcore

Another song from MelodyBrony’s debut album ORIGINS has arrived! This one is about Rainbow Dash dreaming about becoming a WonderBolt, cementing it as a sequel to his other song about the latter. Unlike the other songs on the album, this one showcases MB actually singing for once, and his voice sounds somber and fits the tone of the song well. The instrumental is very driving and powerful, and keeps the pedal to the metal, after each verse; it’s a perfect fit for a pony like Rainbow Dash. Gotta hand it to this guy for being as prolific as he is!

Toby Macarony – I Wanted To Make You Smile | Hybrid Orchestral

Part of the Shenanigans album, I Wanted To Make You Smile… comes from the darker side of Toby Macarony’s musical production, in the same vein as I’ve Watched You. The piece’s main idea revolves around a piano and twisted Pinkie vocals from the Smile Song. It begins with storm sounds in order to set the tone from the very start, the beautiful sad piano melodies are powerful so as to emphasize on the gravity of whatever happened. The middle section goes even deeper in the dark as the melodies disappear, making way for ominous sound design and gravelly low-pitched vocals from the end of the Smile Song, giving them a monstrous feel. The song then ends how it started. Apart from the fact that we can feel something tragic happened, the song is very much open to interpretation. Are the dreadful events the magnitude of a lost cupcake, or the fruit of Pinkie Pie’s theoretical very dark side?

[ASOS] Niłch’i Poni – Skies Ablush | Liquid Drum & Bass

Prepare yourself for 6 minutes of pure beauty. Track 15 from A State of Sugar: Brownie is Niłch’i Poni’s contribution Skies Ablush, a liquid drum & bass banger that combines soft and heavy elements in a unique fashion. The core of the song revolves around soft piano chords and a melody created with a chopped up female vocal sample while a fast-paced beat surrounds it. During the breakdown, the music turns sombre and shows off the use of oriental-esque instruments on top of the spectacularly crafted atmosphere. It’s so unique and blissful to listen to, like you’ve been transported to another world. This is just one of possibly many beautiful tracks on the compilation, which releases on March 6th!

Mr. A.M. – Vinyl’s Wake (AWal Remix) | UK Hardcore

(Listen to Mr. A.M’s/Reil Tunez Original here)
This would be a pretty good example of a remix that’s night and day from the original Mr. A.M. who now goes by Reil Tunez song was a deep and prowling threat level of a banger. This however turns that up with fast but simple beats that adds an enjoyable pace making more of  a high energy boost . Both songs remind you of the different moods of Vinyl. One would be she is putting on a show in an upscale Canterlot club. The other is Vinyl’s house party style. With her loud boosting, and over the top fun with her vocal chops making sure its a good time for everypony. Enjoy these bangers for yourself. It’s a good effort from AWal with fun music. This Qilin asks you to judge for yourself.

Spikey Wikey – No Apologies | House

The king is back. You heard it here first. It’s always a treat getting a new track from the owner of Cider Party himself, Spikey Wikey. No Apologies is one half of his release No Apologies/All Good, with the former track being today’s subject. This house piece takes influence from the 90s with its melody and drum samples as well as a simple drum break before the drop comes. Compared to most other forms of EDM, it’s not quite as heavy, but the pure bouncy vibe that comes from this track is something to be admired. Like a trip back in time!

Liam King – Lock & Booker Smith | Soundtrack

This piece feels like something straight out of an RPG game. Lock & Booker Smith is a collection of two songs from Liam King’s latest EP, UNCANON:Wasteland. The first half is Lock Smith, a soft orchestral piece that features prominent use of a piano riff with some soft strings accompanied with a visual of a pony standing in a brutal snowstorm. After fading out, Booker’s Fault begins, completely changing up the feel. This half of the piece trades orchestral instruments for brooding electronic sounds. The processed drum beat and dark synths playing in the background gives off the feeling of travelling around in a dank dungeon. Despite their different identities, the tracks fit greatly together!

The Empty Tomb – Canterlot Funk | Future Funk

Need some fandom-based future funk in your life? That’s exactly what Canterlot Funk’s here for. Based around a sample of And The Beat Goes On by The Whispers, the song depicts a futuristic Canterlot, where Rarity plans to set up a boutique somewhere in the bustling city. This track does a great job at taking an old sample and playing around with it to make it sound like it came from the future!
