ertrii – Supremacy | Uplifting Trance

Uplifting Trance, woohoo! I’m a huge fan of trance, and I’ve been eager to review some since I got here.

And what a piece of trance it is. ertrii’s music is always amazing (seriously, he’s so underrated, check him out), but to hear this much talent lovingly applied to trance? That is something beautiful. Incredibly rich sound is enhanced by clever selection of effects. The bassline, too, is powerful and almost hypnotic. ertrii takes us far away, to that magical world of talking ponies and friendship we all love.

Royalpony – Solar Empire (Daybreaker) | Hardstyle

Solar Empire, now that’s a blast from the past! Royalpony’s newest track creatures a delightful admixture of 2011 fandom and 2017 samples. Even harder than most of his stuff, it channels the sound of an anthem for a totalitarian government, as well as the high-energy beat and high-frequency synths of a final boss. The vocal samples of Daybreaker add that “finishing touch” to turn a good song to a great song.

Totalspark – Wishes | Chill House

Totalspark has some relaxing, soft chill house for us. A gentle but firm kick and trance-y plucks conspire to create an atmosphere of pure bliss. Usually if people say that music makes you sleepy, it’s a bad thing. But Wishes lulls you off to sweet dreams and panoramas of ponies at play in the fields.

4everfreebrony – House of Glass [2017 Re-Record] / Aviators – House of Glass [Cover] | Orchestral

4everfreebrony resurrects an old classic with his 2017 re-record. Opening with a truly stunning melody plays on woodwinds, and progressing into piano, this track is an absolute masterpiece of composition. His singing is kind and passionate (and sounds almost like I think Dusk Shine would, actually). About Trixie and overflowing with emotion, this song moved me to tears.

And Aviators has covered it as well! It’s always a pleasure to see him make pony music again. His vocals, as usual, are expert and soothing. The reverb, too, echoes in the most lovely way. It’s hard for a cover or remix to do the original justice, but Aviators is very good at that.

[P@D] Elias Frost – The Greatest Hero Of The World | Metal

Huzzah! We’ve got ourselves a nifty song about Spike, who’s obviously the purest and greatest dragon hero ever. It’s about time Spike got some more love from this fandom. With pretty solid guitar riffs and it’s awesome lyrics, it’s sure to keep you rocking your hooves off. If anything, I could totally see this as a great fit for a Guitar Hero game. Now go share some of your affection to the greatest hero of the world!

[P@D] Frozen Night – Frozen Heart / Fellowship Symphonies – Heroes’ Respite | Orchestral

Two more awesome orchestral tracks from Guardians. We start off with this orchestral / metal fusion from Frozen Night who never fails to impress me with their combination of guitars and epic cinematic strings and drums.

And to follow up, a much more chill, yet also haunting (visually as well as acoustically) piece from the ever-inspired group Fellowship Symphonies. And with great artwork to match, this piece was a great way to draw Guardians to a close.

Ataraxia – Motion Reimagined | Album | Electronic

I hadn’t realised until recently just how much music Ataraxia has put out over the past couple of years. From solo piano sonatas to cinematic electronic pop songs, there’s been quite a variety. But like all good things, the alias is coming to an end, and as a parting gift he gives us Motion Reimagined – deliberately named so as a ‘rework’ of sorts of his previous album Eternal Perfect Motion. The album often takes a more experimental approach to music production than Ataraxia’s previous work, in particular the VIP of Viridescent, and features a couple of other people’s remixes of notable songs too.

It’s a great parting gift. We’ll miss you Ataraxia. Thanks for all the music.

Motion Reimagined is available to purchase on Ataraxia’s Bandcamp.

TCB – NightMares EP | Dubstep

TCB is an upcoming artist that released a lot of interesting Dubstep experiments, including NightMares, their latest EP! The experimentation and the mixing in this EP are pretty good. I would say that Daybreaker is the highlights in this EP that describes the evil versions of the Royal Sisters and Twilight Sparkle. I recommend this EP for those who are into to some really experimental, melodic, aggressive Dubstep or Riddim.

You can download NightMares on TCB’s bandcamp or you can stream the 3 songs on TCB’s playlist on Youtube.
