Crystarium – Saddle Arabia | Ethnic Drumstep

After almost a month, Crystarium is warming back up with this drumstep track infused with ethnic vibes and topped with his signature sound design. Prepare to be blown back by heavy bass accented by a beautiful Afghani Rabab sure to leave you with a taste as fine as Karkadeh in your mouth. Check out his future releases, including a collaboration with a certain someone, on the next Ponies at Dawn album dropping on the 23rd!

Filly in the Box – Neurological Pony Disorder | Dubstep

The first thing I thought when I started listened to this was “Whoa, what a groovy beat!” The second was “these are some really, really good sounds!” With innovative synths, lovely growls, and downright unbelievable vocal chopping, Filly in the Box delivers a real gem. It reminds me of the older kind of dubstep, the pre-brostep kind, back when it was just an underground British genre. It pairs that older dubstep with some almost IDM-like elements added for a truly delicious mix. Vinyl would be proud.

SDreamExplorerS – Erasing the Enigma | Album | Metal

The Belarussian artist and a hot name in the brony metal music scene SDreamExplorerS, also known as Soul Strings, bring us an album that is mostly inspired by the Swedish Death Metal movement.

The artist on the album description on YouTube says that Swedish Death Metal (Melodic especially) has inspired him to do this album, especially “The Jester Race” by In Flames. As a metal listener, I certainly could hear the “In Flames” influence on this album, particularly on the track “The First Alicorn” that is available on video. This album has incredible riffs, good percussions and great production quality – one of the great qualities I’ve ever listened on the Soul Strings’ discography. The mix between the well performed screams and the low pitched clean vocals are the best part of the album, you will love it. If you are into old-school In Flames, At The Gates, Amon Amarth or Children of Bodom you will certainly like this album! My Little Pony and Old-School Swedish Death Metal – a great mixture of textures and sounds that Soul Strings will give you if you listen to this masterpiece!

Erasing The Enigma is available to download on bandcamp and the whole thing is also available on YouTube.

[P@D] DJT & Xavi – Royalty | Future House

WE GOT A DOUBLE WHAMMY HERE IN MORE WAYS THAN ONE. Not only does this mark the first pre-release of the upcoming Ponies At Dawn: Guardians album (to be released 23rd June with the usual release party), but I can finally say that Cider Party is back again! After a reshuffle in management, our Makenshi has taken the reigns as the new barkeep.

And then this collab is something I didn’t see coming at all. While Xavi is definitely already known for great future house, collaborating with DJT only makes it better. The resulting track is packed full of great sound design, with excellent percussion to supplement the drums and just a hint of vocal chops, the sprinkles on the cupcake of hors haus.

I’m off to prepare for P@D and think of more bad metaphors.

Synthis – Just Hang On | Synthpop

Synthis delivers another stunning piece of synthpop. His vocals are emotional and moving. The production is top-tier, with the gentle synths and the soft wubs perfectly complimenting his singing. The lyrics, too, are some of the most uplifting I’ve heard in months. All in all, a wonderful track from a wonderful musician.

Elias Frost – the better, the prettier and more powerful | Folk Metal

Russian musician Elias Frost, who became one of the great new names in the brony music scene, returns with this amazing track inspired by the “Nightmare Moon” version of Princess Celestia, Daybreaker. One more track to show that the productivity and imagination of Elias Frost is certainly amazing! This track, according to the artist, is divided in several parts that have different compositions and textures. A masterpiece that you really need to listen!

Also this masterpiece came from the Composer Challenge #1: Daybreaker Theme that also included Jyc Row and SDreamExplorerS, who both produced amazing tracks!

Totalspark – Downstairs | Jazz / Glitch Hop

This innovative track pairs glitch hop with jazz in a groovy, swingy and absolutely superb way. The hoofstep intro leads into a well-produced and very fun track. The beeps, growls, and bzzts are organized like a classic jazz piece, and the saxophone-esque synth halfway really drives the point home. Anyone who likes either glitch hop or jazz should give this a listen – or 5!

Frozen Night – Solar Eclipse | Orchestral

>_…..
>_Greetings, reader
>_Unit Alias “PVNK” has been commandeered for artist enrichment program Alias “Horse Music Herald.”
>_Unit instructed to “post the dankest, sick nastiest pony music it could find.”
>_Complying

The second I saw Daybreaker in that episode I thought to myself, “Oh sweet Celestia of Equestria, this is going to inspire a lot of good music.” Frozen Night delivered big time with more of his excellent Orchestral Metal. The haunting melody of the choir leading into the epic swells, tastefully infused with metal, gives it such a beastly vibe. Seriously, brace yourself for one hell of a ride, this one is definitely a keeper. Be sure to grab it on his bandcamp and check out his other tunes too!

SDreamExplorerS – Sun Worshipper | Metal

Instrumental metal, now that’s a genre I’m not well acquainted with! But SDreamExplorerS definitely makes a case for me to get to know it better. An eerie, foreboding intro leads into an energetic and dark song. SDreamExplorS’s skill on guitar is amazing, as is the overall composition. This piece is a vision into a world scarred by flame and light. Come along and see the devastation!

Francis Vace – The Old Mare And The Sea | Album | Rock

BETTER👏LATE👏THAN👏NEVER

Shortly before we started the Horse Music Herald, Francis Vace released his first full album (of his current discography that hopefully won’t be deleted from Bandcamp any time soon) – Lost In A Pastel Hue. Now (okay, a couple of months ago) the time has come for a second full-length release. In a similar vein, The Old Mare And The Sea contains a variety of styles, draws from a few different influences, and contains solo work, collabs, and covers. We start off with upbeat pop-punk and ska solo pieces, followed by a long string of collaborative works and covers, with a couple more solo originals bookending the end of the album. In essence, the album works as a showcase for most of the different kind of styles, formats and types of song that you can find on Francis’s YouTube channel. So whether you follow his music for one particular style or for all of them, this album has something to offer everyone.

The Old Mare And The Sea is available to download on Francis Vace’s Bandcamp.
