Vylet Pony – LESBIAN PONIES WITH WEAPONS|Hyperpop

WARNING: This song includes swearing!

So everypony, if you’re familiar with EDM you might have heard of the misconception that all EDM is lazy party music, well that applies half to this song, in that sense that this is a party song and a prime example of one. This article, and all article articles published in a two week range from this one, is delayed by about three days because I couldn’t stop throwing down with this song in my ears. So enough of the rambling let’s get to the bottom of this.
The song starts out with a rather slower beat that sounds more like a chillout song but quickly the real beat starts and you realize this isn’t to chill out, this song is to throw down and dance like there’s no tomorrow. And the song already starts out with some lovely vocal chops taken from the “Smile Song”, and the lyrics start. At this point I should mention since the lyrics cover all kinds of stuff further down, there will be a short segment talking about the lyrics, for now I’m going to focus on the beat. The beat mostly keeps to the background and as we reach the chorus, the beat ramps up to 2020% awesomeness. As we leave the chorus the beat calms down but just long enough to let you breathe and it goes right back to absolute amazingness. Around the second third of the song the beat calms down some more giving off a vibe of uncertainty, but it quickly goes back to the normal beat and shortly thereafter into the awesome chorus which the song ends on.
So that was it about the beat, now to the lyrics. Note: in order to summarize the lyrics as best as possible this segment will include swearing.
So to quote what Vylet said in the YouTube description, this song is about a lot of different things, for example: fuck the 2020 political climate, cringe culture, the far right part of the fandom, anti LGBTQ+ people and the one most of us can likely relate to: fuck perfectionism, having fun is way better. So to summarize the amazing lyrics they’re all about “fuck all the negative people and just be you and have fun”.

Vyprae – Hug a Pony (Remake) | Glitch-Hop

Today we’ve got ourselves another great song by Vyprae. This song is actually a remake of Hug a Pony made by Vyprae November last year. The song starts out with a rather classical sounding beat but quickly more stuff joins in to show you that this isn’t some kind of old song your music teacher makes you listen to, oh no this is the finest of OMFG. Quickly the vocal chops join in to make this song feel even more lively, the song slowly starts building up until it hits its peak in the chorus, that is being supported by awesome vocal chops: the liveliest part of the whole song and really just makes you wanna dance. After the chorus, the classical sounding beat takes over again and claims the spotlight. Quickly all the other stuff joins in again. The beat builds up again but this time right when the drop is supposed to hit you, Fluttershy gives us her best yay and sends us over to the chorus that, once again, simply just slaps. To finish the song the classical beat takes over again but this time it’s held more futuristic, really giving the track a proper send off.

Note: Since the original video got deleted, you may find the MP3 file of the song here.

MirroredReality – Mage of the Meadow | Alternate Electronic

One word comes to mind when I listen to “Mage of the Meadow”, and believe me, that’s been quite a few times since its release. That word being, ethereal. MirroredReality presents an almost otherworldly vibe in this song that’s difficult to describe, and that’s far from a bad thing. This one takes me back to playing JRPG’s as a kid, and getting to that obligatory “unfamiliar kingdom” section; its an obvious member of the repeat club-

[ASOS] Eniix – Power Ponies | Complextro

We’re keeping the amazing ASOS: Chocolate treats coming for ya. Business is about to pick up with this track at 28 on the album. some real super ponies vibes right here. The pace and beat could be used for Twilight and her friends or the Sunset Shimmer group in EQG. Either way, this has heavy action and a pulsing flow with a banging bassline for super powered ponies on patrol, taking care of the cities with crazy nut jobs trying to cause mayhem. The elements are a complex mix of elements that just let your imagination tell the story for you. Bad guys or ponies on the run, super villains making a mess of things. and our heroes are always on the move and on the case. This track is just a fun listen that will get your mood to swing in the right way. As always, this Qilin asks you to judge for yourself.

SlightlyAmiss – Visions | Metal

Metal and alicorns seem to go hand and hand when the narrative is them on the verge of being consumed by the darkness inside of them and all of the magic and power corrupting them into what is deep within them. In a very aggressive and almost mythical arrangement from my Horse Music Herald teammate, SlightlyAmiss. We get inside the heads of Celestia and Luna with this explosive song of pure metal goodness. Let’s take a moment to put aside what they like in the show and even the comics and focus on what Lauren Faust said about them. They’re superpowered ponies with god-like magic to boot; they know what their true powers are and the lyrics that are sang with such power and force, oh boy, those vocal leads into those angry vocals really give you the idea of why the sisters, even after their retirement that even in the most dire and emotional vulnerable moments, still have that feeling of giving into Nightmare Moon and Daybreaker. The lyrics speak of those dark yet fully powered sides of themselves yelling the messages into their minds to remind them that if they ever get the chance, they will take over and true alicorn power will come out. The powerful heavy metal elements of those guitars (that solo, holy Celestia!), the dark and grim melodies and those drums! This is how to tell a story of struggling with your dark side. Brony metal is the best metal. As always, this Qilin asks you to judge for yourself.

Ponytronic – Realizations (Happiness) | Dubstep

The track gives me a really warm and fuzzy feeling ya know. Off Ponytronic’s forthcoming “Secrets Best Kept Alone; Forever Untold” album, I got to tell you all… I didn’t think the hard style of dubstep could ever sound this satisfying to the soul with this arrangement. The message is very deep and personal (read the story within the description); to put it short, this song is about finding what makes you grow and also finding a balance of your happiness and others. The dubstep bass and elements are used in such an inspiring way with the melody. He speaks of Fluttershy in how she has grown over 9 seasons. I think with how banging and hard this track sounds, it’s a great example of how this song’s vibe is. It’s a different vibe to your normal dubstep. Listen and see if you feel the same, but as always, this Qilin asks you to judge for yourself.

Ocean Melody – Prelude to Shadows | Lyre Solo

Ocean Melody sure knows how to bring the feeling of a famous fanfiction within the community to life. The piece here is speaking of Lyra going through a point of severe anxiety. A gentle but concerning melody of Lyra trying to speak to others around with her with her music. Over the past year Ocean Melody has released music inspired by the fanfic “Background Pony”: a sad take on the life of Lyra Heartstrings. Taking the music Lyra composes in the story to real time, to make the story more immersive is admirable. Ocean Melody is good to listen for anyone that wants the emotion on a lighter fare. As always, this Qilin asks you to judge for yourself.

Budzy – Marshmallow (BeatSpark Remix) | Dubstep

Invigorating is this dastardly tune that is BeatSpark’s remix of Marshmallow by Budzy! BeatSpark has taken the bouncy house attitude of the original piece by Budzy and created a heavy and dark, yet still recognizable variation. The chord implications and melodies are still present, but the offbeat 909 hi-hats and claps are now pounding kicks and reverberant snares in two-step, garnished by supersaws and heavy growls. Such an apt interpretation of a Ponies at Dawn piece no doubt deserves to be jammed to.

DAϟH – This B**** Got Tentacle Hair | Breakcore / Speedcore

Made for the second race of the DustCar project, this Mane-iac-inspired song is a hardcore gem. Like a geode containing many marvels, DAϟH’s tune has loads of interesting and unique elements. Its kick is powerful and sounds perfect for the speedcore sections, but its melodic aspect isn’t lacking in quality either. The Mane-iac’s vocals were sampled too and put to good use. Speaking of sampling, the work on the breaks is also remarkable. DAϟH is finding his voice and style and it’s wonderful to see. Don’t forget to check out his and Cloudbeat‘s (aka Payyn) set from the Burning Mare 3 music festival.

Nyancat380 – Nightmares | Minatory/Deathstep

Today we’ve got ourselves a song by the amazing Nyancat380. This is honestly my first Deathstep song and I didn’t know much about the genre and what to expect but sweet Celestia did it drive a chill down my spine, but enough rambling let’s get to the bottom of this masterpiece. The track starts out with the sounds of a dark night and a beat that is sure to drive several chills down your spine, quickly the beat is joined by some extra tunes giving it even more awesomeness without loosing the scary vibe. Suddenly the beat moves to the background and something else takes over, it’s your scary build up! Boom the drop hits you like a freight train but quickly calms down again only to do the same thing again. The intense chorus will engulf you with it’s scary but hard wubs, then the song continues and goes over into some more vocal chops and another build up to an awesome chorus and in the end after the chorus calms down it starts again to end the song.
