InklingBear already covered this in his huge rwiteup of Vylet’s new album, Mystic Acoustics, but I thought this would be a particularly cool track to highlight individually. Not only is it the pinnacle of “fuck genres”, but having an entire animated video for it too is incredible, huge props to alumx for his work on it! Most of you have probably already seen this, but go watch it again anyway…you know it’s worth it.
Dubstep
[P@D] bank pain & DJT – Vultures (feat. Wootmaster) | Hybrid Trap
Bank Pain and DJT has brought us an amazing mixture of dubstep and trap music all in one true and amazing banger. And of course what’s a banger without some hot vocals from Wootmaster himself? These three are amazing together and totally something you won’t regret listening to. They’ve got some tricks up their hooves throughout so you may be surprised with what they throw at your ears!
Suskii – Fate of Equestria | Orchestral Dubstep
I’ve been friends with Suskii a good 3 years, and known him across 4 musician aliases. And I’m confident in saying that this is his best song he’s made so far. He starts off in a surprising and amazing way, with an unbelievably atmospheric intro full of haunting orchestral melodies andsamples from the most epic finale to date. From there, he builds up to the classic “Suskii drop” we’ve come to know and love. At every part, I was either agape in awe or banging my head along with the beat. Truly, this is orchestral dubstep.
[P@D] Xavi – Blitz Em | Future Dubstep
Xavi is hitting hard with this Future Dubstep banger straight out of Guardians and delivers inventive drops crafted while experimenting with new musical horizons and tools. While keeping Xavi’s fresh, tasty, moe signature sound in the second part especially with those curvy whomps, the track makes for a unique experience and a feast of sounds, as a groovy and hard-hitting progression unfolds. As an appreciated bonus, the tune also has a Flutterstory, that is explained in the description and further detailled in Xavi’s comment on the video!
[P@D] L.M. – New Start / GROskAr – Last Stand | Dubstep
One of the most amazing songs that Ice Bear’s heard from the latest Ponies at Dawn album, L.M. has a whole lot of surprises for you in this song. Exquisite vocal chops, rockin’ growls, amazing chord work, and even the sound design is impressive! L.M. is most definitely one that will woo the listeners with something that is this awesome. Really, who can compete with something like this? ❤
Another great dubstep track from the recent Ponies at Dawn album, GROskAr has drummed up some great growls throughout the entire track! Also with added dramatic sounding orchestral parts to make it sound more convincing, especially as an epic theme song for the princesses of Equestria. Ice Bear can actually see it happening. All in all, Last Stand proves to be one of the epic sounding tracks in the album.
These two are amazing, and Ice Bear suggests that you check them out!
ExplodingPonyToast, LutariFan & ThatMusicBrony – Start Again (Mr. A.M. VIP Remix) (feat. TheWanderingKit & Chaotic) | Dubstep
It’s time to Start Again with a VIP of Mr. A.M.’s heartfelt remix of the iconic track from Awakening, this time featuring TheWanderingKit and Chaotic, and paying further tribute to the emotional piece with deep rapping vocals and a revamped Dubstep instrumental of many wonders. This is a magnificent example of responding to emotion… with more emotion!
Vylet Pony – Mystic Acoustics | Album | Multi-Genre
We are in for a little (no… rather big) surprise as Vylet Pony has just recently released a brand new album! There’s an astonishing 14 tracks in total, so if you are ready for yet another epic adventure with Vylet Pony, catch the write-up about each individual track right after the break!
[P@D] Einarx – Guardian VIP | Dubstep
What a privilege it is to get to write a review of something Einarx made! I’ve been a fan of him for over a year, since his absolutely fantastic EP “Descended” came out. This VIP is a superbly produced New Fluttershy-themed piece with screeching crashes, machine-like effects, and insane wubs, interspersed with softer melodic bits. All throughout, Einarx’s trademark vocal chopping shines brilliantly. Another top-quality track from the South Korean master of dubstep!
Brilliant Venture – Twilight Vs. Tirek | Dubstep
SWEET CELESTIA, this feels nostalgic. I’m a huge, huge fan of the older pony music scene. What some artists consider “old” or “cringy” I consider “lovely” and “heartwarming”. Brilliant Venture captures that feel again in a track that left me breathless, teary-eyed, and grinning. With pony samples galore, vocal chopping left and right, wubs, and all the old EDM cliches, this is a trip to the past with modern production standards. A truly fantastic production, one that has that most difficult of properties to add – soul.
Filly in the Box – Neurological Pony Disorder | Dubstep
The first thing I thought when I started listened to this was “Whoa, what a groovy beat!” The second was “these are some really, really good sounds!” With innovative synths, lovely growls, and downright unbelievable vocal chopping, Filly in the Box delivers a real gem. It reminds me of the older kind of dubstep, the pre-brostep kind, back when it was just an underground British genre. It pairs that older dubstep with some almost IDM-like elements added for a truly delicious mix. Vinyl would be proud.
