I’m going to put this one down as “Regal Drum & Bass” in my book, because this is pure class. Delightful progressions and melodies fueled by percussive and acoustic instruments pair with sweet synths and a sick DnB groove to create a song that sounds like it’s playing out of a club in the basement of Canterlot Castle (or maybe off of the terrace so that all of Tia’s royal subjects can be uplifted). The soaring second half is guaranteed to put some pep in your pantaloons, so turn it on, crank it up, and bask in the glory of this wonderful tribute to fair Celestia!

Wooshy – Fit Right In (Cover) | Orchestral / Electro Swing
Okay, this is cool. Wooshy (better known for making slick PMVs) has taken this great song and made it sound like it’s playing out of the orchestra pit at a Broadway adaptation of the film (please, oh please make this a reality). The video plays through the original song followed by the adaptation as it runs through the sheet music score, and it’s a great way to see how Wooshy constructed their version. The energy from this arrangement is so uplifting, and it’s great to hear all the supporting percussive instruments add their depth and nuance to this piece. Kudos to the artist–I am super thankful that they decided to follow their muse on this journey!
CAPT – YOUR FRIEND! | Alternative Electronic
What a vibe! CAPT has composed a groovy, upbeat, tropical piece with a world music flare that will whisk you away to your favorite chillout spot! The instrumental melody pairs so beautifully with the bouncy bass and punchy rhythm, and you can feel the joy of Sunny and Izzy’s instantly amazing friendship shining through as the song perfectly matches the art that inspired it. It’s such a wonderful little capsule of musical positivity. Listen to this song and then message a friend and tell them they rock!
Sofia Carson – Glowin’ Up (Acid Applejack Remix) | Happy Hardcore
Alright, everypony, it’s time to get moving! Acid Applejack has taken this super slick tune from the G5 movie and pumped it up with a great happy hardcore delivery that retains the light spirit of the original. The original opening is sped up and repeated along with a nice synth melody to launch the song, and the positive intensity is maintained throughout with a sped up bassline and synths pushing the melody accompanied by uptempo percussion. The arrangement and great production gives the song a well-constructed feel, and by the time the final bass note fades out you’ll feel ready to take on the world!
SpinScissor – No More Apologies | Midtempo / Alternate Electronic
SpinScissor is honing the unique emotion in his songs even more through practice of the magic that is music, and this new release might just be a new peak! The emotional melodies throughout that incredible progression certainly resonated with me, while the heartfelt vocals are telling the commitment to newfound meanings explained in the description. Ethereal and magical, the piece will take you to higher planes!
char – Any Fuss | Alternate Electronic
Indubitably among the best and most emotional pony songs ever written in my eyes, char’s tribute released on the 10th anniversary of SGaP’s music is a commitment to the cultural preservation of such pony vocal chops-powered pieces of magic that call upon our Passion. With a progression reflecting Starlight’s character depth and a masterful composition that evokes emotion so well, the song is nothing short of breathtaking, and a gem you don’t want to sleep on!
Vanessa Hudgens – Gonna Be My Day (Lexie Remix) | Future Bass
Well, it wasn’t long ago that Lexie suddenly appeared on our radars as a musician, and since then they have created songs of genres everywhere from Future Funk (a genre I didn’t know existed before that) to House to producing DnB, both on their own and in a collaboration with Tw3Lv3. Their latest offering, a Future Bass track, also happens to be a remix of the brand new G5 song! I really loved the original, and if you remember my “Best of Friends” BlackIceMusic remix article, you already know that I’m pretty cautious of remixes of songs that I love, but not with this one, Lexie has won me over with their previous works, so I was expecting a banger, but sweet Celestia, I was not prepared for how good this song is! The song starts out with a few beats of the original opening, but then Lexie quickly engages their talent with a fun, upbeat melody to go along with the awesome vocals courtesy of Vanessa Hudgens. As the vocals get into the build up, so does the remix. Intro-ed by an awesome guitar riff, we jump into an amazing drum build up, and along with vocal build up, here comes the drop! The drop is amazing–rarely has something gotten me jumping this hard on my first listen-through, and we get this awesome, video game-ish melody together with some vocals. Then we come to the part that made me shake my head in surprise (and still does): we get, still inside the drop, a quick build-up into what I can only call a drop inside the drop, intro-ed by my exact reaction I get every time listening to this remix. At the end of the drop we get yet another build up that goes straight into the next part of the song! Here we calm down a bit, getting a breather after all the jumping we just did, but it doesn’t last long before Lexie jumps straight back to another build up and yet another drop that does everything just as well as the first one did, and this drop takes us to the end of the song. This remix is a banger and certainly one of my favourites (if not my straight-up favorite) remix of all time!

Daniel Ingram – Raise This Barn (Vale & Fl0 Remix) | Bass House
What a dark, groovy, pumped up remix! The track opens with a slick beat and distorted vocals to form the melody, which sets the tone nicely (along with the great background art!). Then the main vocals kick in, and they’ve been tweaked just enough to fit the atmosphere of the track. The buildup and the drop really get things bucking with some encouragement from Applejack courtesy of a distorted vocal chop and some really nice sound design and tasty bass. I’d bet my bits that this barn comes with an above average number of speakers and party lights!
Sofia Carson – Glowin’ Up (Enermatrix Remix) | House
Enermatrix is back! After a 4 year hiatus, Enermatrix is back to remixing, and how better to celebrate such a return then with a G5 remix! The track starts out with vocals and an awesome, upbeat drum build up before we head straight into the amazing melodies. At the beginning the drum loop shines through a lot, really supporting the vocals, and then for the build up we get some more awesome drums. And then the drop–oh, the drop! It’s an upbeat beat firework that fits really well with the chipper mood of the original. The song then takes one big risk that I rarely give songs credit for: the drop doesn’t really calm down, but between the end of the drop one and the next build up we get this spiced up version of the beginning. The second drop is just as amazing as the first, and I could sit here for hours telling you how great both drops are (like how they work together with the vocals instead of blowing over them or hiding behind them), but I think you get the picture. Finally, in one last, perfect connection with the vocals, the song, instrumental and all, stops right along with them.

Senntenial – Bronies are Weird (Likonan Remix) | Progressive House
Likonan is back again after dropping an absolute banger with their “The Riddle” parody, and now they’ve gone all the way back in time to Senntenial’s “Bronies are Weird” and turned it into this banger of a remix! The instrumental is full of fun effects and great melodies that are simply too good to fully appreciate in a single listen! The vocals have some great effects applied to them which creates a really fun combination with the synths. While in some songs the lyrics, especially in the drop, tend to stick out from the instrumental a lot, this song combines both into a harmony of greatness!
