BGM has given us another fine pony tune, and this time their chosen subject is the most great and powerful pony in all the land basically ever–Trixie! The song opens with a gentle acoustic guitar that gives the impression that this song has a tale to tell in classic troubadour style. The guitar is soon joined by vocals that set the scene for Trixie’s arrival in Ponyville (accompanied by lyrics in the video!). The harmonized vocal tracks are awesome, and I love the use of the second track and the shift to the lower key to emphasize the conflict brewing between Trixie and someone (you’ll never guess who) in the Ponyville crowd. The full orchestral metal arrangement is totally epic and matches the lyrics perfectly. I won’t spoil the story, but it’s fair to say that some liberties have been taken in the retelling of events. It’s an epic tail told with suitable aplomb and is basically the most incredible, amazing, humble song ever. You will enjoy it. A lot.

Thrasher – false_code | Album | Metal / Electronic
You can always count on Thrasher to deliver intense excellence, and here they have created an entire album’s worth of awesome, hard-charging music based around a fantastic concept! A hacker is trying to save society from the malicious clutches of the “desync reality”, a virtual world that promises salvation but instead exploits its inhabitants. The album follows the unnamed protagonist’s progress by delivering song after song of inventive and merciless metal encapsulated in finely crafted tracks that meld fierce guitars and traditional metal arrangements with electronic components through dynamic progressions. It fits the theme perfectly, and I hope that you enjoy it as much as I did. I’ll give a rundown of the songs next, so please join me below the break if you care to. Either way, go grab this album and get rocking!

Deavas – Flutterborn (Covering Twitch) | Progressive Metal
Deavas reworks an EDM classic into a progressive rock tune and replaces the smooth, laid back delivery of the original, creating an intensity that matches the awesome background art! The guitars are fantastic throughout as Deavas shows off their chops and rock production skills, and the Skyrim-influenced viking vibe is awesome. It’s great hearing Fluttershy’s vocals floating above the fray of the churning guitars and rock percussion. This track is so packed with rock goodness and hoof pumping attitude that by the end you’ll be convinced that the seemingly demure pegasus is actually moonlighting as a rock goddess! (She totally is.)
Deavas – Eternal Night | Metal
All hail Nightmare Moon, ruler of one of the best times of the year for Pony music! Deavas doesn’t mess around with this tribute, opening with some hard charging guitar riffs and percussion and a clip from the Mare of the Hour herself tormenting the citizens of Ponyville. The song launches into full effect after Nightmare Moon shouts “the night will last forever”, and the dueling guitar melodies do an awesome job of embodying the storm of fear felt by the witnesses to this auspicious event. There’s awesome guitar work throughout the song that mixes with nice changes of pace, and ending with Luna’s evil laugh is the perfect culmination for this rock maelstrom.
Osoch – Gonna Be My Day (Cover) | Metal
For those of you that happen to join the fandom after watching the G5 movie, Welcome to this crazy fandom and the brony music scene, we’ve been around LOL. If this is your first taste of brony music, Then your got yourself a real treat. One of our fandom’s resident guitar gods Osoch, flex’s his musical talent with this cover. Oh my, and I didn’t think this be this Epic but it is!. How in the Equestria do you amp up the energy and message of this song? Well, in this man’s case throwing down some sweet hard punch-filled guitar and drum work! This man knows his production skill to make Sunny’s message sound even more magical and fill with the sweet sound of METAL! He even plays with the words with his sounds. Pay attention to the part where Sunny talks about inside and walls. He is pretty slick there!
On top of that is a taste of his guitar solo bliss, which is so good and adds to this track’s fantastic structure. Just listen to it you will not be disappointed if you like Metal and hard rock! Osoch, you killed this! As always, this Qilin asks you to judge for yourself.
Deavas – 314 | Thrash Metal

Lots of violent lyrical imagery in this one. Feel free to click ahead if you’re okay with that.
Derek Spear – My Past Is Not Today (feat. MIKITANII) (Covering Daniel Ingram) | Metal
Who said that with G5 on the Horizon we couldn’t have some more fun with G4 classics! “My Past Is Not Today” has become a very important hashtag for the fandom, because we all made mistakes in the past and deserve to be seen for who we are today. Derek Spear’s guitar work combined with the awesome vocals of MIKITANII make for an amazing song that is an undeniable delight!
Big thanks to theCANderson for proofreading!
Koron Korak, SDreamExplorerS, & Romeo Nightinamare – Guardians of Canterlot (Parody of Amon Amarth) | Metal
What do you get when you get a metal-head fanatic, an expert collaborator, and the king of European metal bass? Answer: A group cover that was fated to happen. Stemming from Romeo Nightinamare’s desire to ponify Guardians of Asgaard by Amon Amarth, they teamed up with Koron Korak and Soul Strings to give us this powerful story of those who would guard Canterlot from Queen Chrysalis and her “cannon fodder’s army”. The expert guitars really pop out in front of subtly brilliant drums. Mix that with S-tier bass action and some deep, DEEP vocals and you’ve got a cinematic war song!
My Little Remix – Brony vs. Brony Remix War X: 10th Anniversary Invitational | Compilation Album | Multi-Genre
Welcome one and all to a truly auspicious event: The latest installment in the My Little Remix series! For those that don’t know (which included me before this album), MLR began in 2011 when the pony music scene was absolutely exploding as a way of pulling artists together into a more cohesive community. There have been nine albums featuring some of the best talent of their respective times, and though the creative mayhem of the early days has come and gone, the songs that those artists and others who took up the horse music banner produced left an indelible impression on the fandom music landscape. What a wonderful delight, then, that the time-honored tradition of remixing has returned for yet another glorious compilation of fandom talent! This album is a really fantastic musical journey full of lovingly produced music, and it is my absolute pleasure to introduce you to its track along with my co-conspirator, Simon. So go download the album, kick back, and join us in this beautiful appreciation of horse music achievement! Also, how great is it that the tracks are labeled “befriends”? Whomever came up with that deserves a hearty huzzah! Alright, let’s get into it!

Derek Spear – This Day Aria (Covering Daniel Ingram) (feat. MIKITANII) | Symphonic Metal
Man, it’s been a hot minute since something covered this song! Brand new to the brony music community, mind you! But, I must be honest, you can not tell that Derek is new at all. Not when You have the mood changing as it does in the transitions between Cadance and Queen Chrysalis! A classic note for note composition of pure pony orchestra for Cadance switches to this brutal, epic metal, and nasty mood for Chrissy! It brings so much the perspective of this song, And I would not be remiss if I did not say that the singing vocals of MIKITANII brings the emotional face-first and on point for both Cadance and Chrysalis with their voice! Just WOW. Listen to this track and a new spin on a classic! As always, this Qilin asks you to judge for yourself.
