RedSpark – Legend of the Moon | Orchestral

RedSpark has been SO active with many pony concept-powered pieces and tributes lately, and all are so very appreciated! He may even be considered the most active pony musician of late! While I posted every release on EQD, we’ve been a bit behind over here at HMH, but please enjoy this latest release from the musician that was inspired by the awesome artwork Night observations, and do make sure to check out the other releases from the musician that came out in the meantime! Namely: Twilight Fall, The Anti-Twilight Brigade, Dream of Flight (Flyin’ over Equestria), and RedSpark’s remix of the ending credits song from the MLP movie Off To See The World!

Midnight Frenzy – Spiral Harmonies ft. Emily Koch | Showtunes

For those of you that remember the great DuoCartoonist musical collaborations, a big part of those songs came from Spiral Harmonies (for those of you that don’t remember those videos – look them up right away!). After some re-orchestration, they have re-released the remastered version of Midnight Frenzy, a lively and very playful track based around Luna as a child, getting into trouble and having fun through the night. The orchestration is incredible with all the instruments building upon each other while Emily Koch’s voice shines as the incredibly lovable Luna character.

Night Blaze – Facing Night Mare (Extended) | Orchestral

Night Blaze likes action-packed musical pieces and Facing Night Mare is a great example of that exact kind of exciting compositions. This track has a lot of moving instrumental parts from distorted guitars contemplating the powerful percussion, violins that introduce the tension, choir voices adding intensity, and much more! A tribute to the Princess of Night, you can feel the battle-like intensity in this track!

Daniel Ingram – You’re In My Head Like A Catchy Song (Studio Quinn and JustKat cover) | Showtunes

Studio Quinn has been pumping out a lot of music this year and the newest installment is this lovely duo with JustKat. Going straight from the song, the voices are soft and tender while the instrumentation focuses on a tightly tuned piano. The drums keep a good beat and there’s an added bonus of the interlude which features ska-like strumming to keep things fresh.

Jess Furman, Ethan Roberts, and Lauren Dyson – Pony Life Theme Song (Rod Steven Remix) | Eurobeat

It’s basically tradition for pony songs to get Eurobeat remixes, and of course, with Pony Life having such an energetic theme song, it was inevitable for it to get remixed as well! This short track does just that, remixing the theme song with some epic Eurobeat music. The original lyrics mix very well with the new music, and the track is way faster than the original, making this a fun track overall!

Noc – Empty Horizons | Original Audiobook Soundtrack | Soundtrack / Orchestral

I’d first like to preface this write-up by saying how much I love fanfiction, like almost as much as brony music, and that I’m reading Empty Horizons now and so far it’s really good. So, onto the album! It’s a soundtrack to an audiobook, which I’ve never really seen before. There are 15 awesome tracks on here, and each one is distinct and memorable. There are some really cinematic tracks, like the Main Theme and Twilight Falls, and string-heavy tracks like Rarity’s Theme, but all the tracks, in general, are packed with passion and emotion, and overall they all add to the vibe of the story.

[P@D] Forest Rain – The Spark Overture | Pop Ballad

This song made me tear up at the release party, and every time, I still get close to tears; Forest Rain has once again perfectly captured the love I think we all share of the magical land of Equestria. With the masterful use of motifs sprinkled throughout the song, and other technical tidbits such as incredibly emotional dynamics, she draws out a level of emotion in me that I haven’t felt in quite some time, and it’s wonderfully refreshing. I also can’t get over the absolute beauty that is her voice, covering such a wide range of expression. A masterpiece of a track, indeed.
The track is available as part of P@D Ignite.

Toothpaste is great at finding creative ways to make a song fun. Mares of Mastery in Their Craft is a chilled out track dedicated to the masters of relaxation – the spa ponies! Toothpaste uses a very Japanese style of instrumentation and composition combined with a slow drum beat to create a calm track that never drags. Unique and soothing, Toothpaste has added another standout track to their great repertoire!

Yanamosuda – G4G4 (feat. Zephysonas ) | Jazz

No better tag team could there be for this song! Yanamosuda’s expert composition mixed with Zephysonas’ saxophonic brilliance create a beautifully smooth jazz piece! The bass in G4 is incredible with the speed and fluidity of the moving low tones. The saxophone carries the melody with fantastic syncopation, runs, and all-around high-level performance! The drums and piano accentuate the piece well, and make for an incredibly crisp and finely-tuned jazz song!

It’s nice to see such an old face again in the fandom! It’s a very welcome and long awaited send off, and its really nice seeing such a relaxing song remixed in a way to give it a newfound energy while staying true to the original form.
