Eastquestria Records – Vol. 1: Prelude | Compilation Album
It’s not every day you find a double compilation album in your inbox (thanks Drixale), so this was a very pleasant surprise. Eastquestria is a new pony music collective from China, who last month launched their first compilation album, Prelude. The album spans two “discs”, each one featuring over an hour of music. There’s mostly a mix of electronic and orchestral/soundtrack – some of the latter even includes the sound of some traditional East Asian instruments. If you’re looking for some artists you don’t normally see anywhere else, this double album is a great place to begin!

Hyperpop has been on the rise in the fandom for the past few years, and now Koa contributes a full album worth of crazy, silly, super-boppin’ hits! Every track on Rainbow Disaster Pop is conceptualized through a different episode from Dawn Somewhere’s series Rainbow Dash Presents, a comical video set which retold notable MLP fanfiction through parody. The entire album exudes punk energy with lots of fun vocal effects, subtle audio nods to Dawn Somewhere, chaotic randomness, hilarity, and so much more!

Mumble, the ever-surprising musician he still is, manages to bring something fresh to P@D: Zenith. The merging of reggae with 80’s style rock is far out and rad. Mumble’s vocals bleed style and flare, drawing your mood into this relaxation bliss. General Mumble shows why he lasted so long in this music scene by reinventing himself with music such as this! In the first season of Friendship is Magic, Princess Celestia told Twilight Sparkle there was more to their world than what she saw in books. Over time in that first season, Twilight saw what exactly the Duo of Paloris and Caedon Hawk created here for P@D: Zenith. Caedon Hawk’s wonderous vocals share a valuable message that often unnoticed beauty exists around us. Twilight discovered this once she started her friendship lessons. Paloris’s melodies feed that curiously or as told by them. “Get out and touch some grass and feel the world around you, smell the roses, feel the nature around you, feel alive”. After years of honing her craft, Tw3Lv3 proudly presents the fruits of her hard work in this album. In essence, the music she feels and breathes is here within these tracks. Music that makes you think you are having a chill time with ponies like Tree Hugger and Fluttershy in a café on a cozy afternoon. As Tw3Lv3 had stated, the music she listens to relaxes, and the music she feels is in these tracks to give you those chill vibes. Well, Koa never fails to please but her album “In Your Eyes” definitely knocks it out of the park! And today I’ll tell you just a little bit about Supercut, but let’s start from the top: The song kicks straight off with Koa’s amazing vocals before the upbeat instrumental kicks in, mainly featuring a hypnotizing beat and a catching acoustic guitar that’ll get stuck in your head! Both vocals and instrumental get their own times to shine and overall this song makes you wish it was a lot longer! The lyrics creatively cover the kind of people who spend their time spreading lies and half truths for their entertainment, and indeed sometimes people only see a supercut of who we really are.
