Acouste Wholenote – Fashionably Late | Hard Rock

Fans of ’80s and ’90s hard rock music will not be uncomfortable listening to Acouste Wholenote’s new rock piece named Fashionably Late. Basing its lore off of Rarity, this song sports sharp drums acting as the foundation for the classic duo of bass and distorted guitar to riff its groovy motifs everywhere. In even further embracement of the hard rock spirit, there is a hauntingly melodic guitar solo introduced at the heights of this song. If there’s anything good that this lockdown has brought us, it’s music like this!

GeekBrony – Long, Long Way | Orchestral

This one may bring a tear to your eye. Celebrating his love for the community and the emotional roller coaster this past year has been, GeekBrony unleashes this emotional tribute to Celestia looking back on all of Twilight’s many accomplishments. Long, Long Way begins very soft and slowly adds some light, high keys. As the song progresses, we get more orchestral elements of brass, big drums, and eventually well placed Celestia chops. There is a touching homage to Celestia’s Ballad that really brings the whole thing together into a touching memoir of GeekBrony’s many wonderful experiences with the show and friends.

[P@D] John Kenza – Take to the Sky (feat. Koa) | Hands Up

There’s never a bad time to listen to some John Kenza and that’s doubly true when Koa’s always top-notch vocals are added to the mix! Fresh off the new hit compilation album, Ponies at Dawn: Ignite, Take to the Sky is an uplifting song celebrating the hippogriff’s freedom from the terror of the Storm King and the liberating sensation that they can once again take to the sky. The verses are very relaxing and chilled with lyrics reflecting on time spent waiting for this day before building into a big melodic bop we all know and love Kenza for.

[P@D] 4everfreebrony – Fly My Kite | Soft Rock

Glimmer song! The 24th track from Ponies At Dawn: Ignite is Fly My Kite, one of four appearances from 4everfreebrony on the album! The song showcases a mellow nature of what it’s like to just sit back and fly a kite through Starlight’s perspective, thinking of her friends and coming to terms with her flaws, past and present. The music is calm and oddly cheery, including xylophone sounds and even a mandolin solo. Glimmer song!

[P@D] Luna Ticks – Alcohol Like Oxygen | Punk Rock

The Luna Ticks made a comeback at the end of last year and submitted a song for Ponies At Dawn – Ignite. Alcohol Like Oxygen is sung from the perspective of a character whose friend tends to go a bit overboard in the alcohol department, Berry Punch for instance. It can be seen as a sequel to Complication that came out four years ago. The instrumental is just what Quicksilver‘s style is: guitars and bass that rock hard, with a special note here on the mixing of the drums that include live-like panning. The vocals from Quicksilver and Francis Vace are full of energy and passion as always — the Luna Ticks in essence.

[ASOS] CRUVOD – Go Forth! | Electronic

This ASOS: Brownie track can be best described as energetic and quick. It has mostly electronic/kind of dubstep music, along with some orchestral music in the middle and towards the end, which really gives the track an upbeat vibe, and overall is a fun and catchy track!

[P@D] Lavender – Once Again (feat. Synthis) | Liquid Drum & Bass

While Lavender has been in the scene for years and years, track 12 from Ponies at Dawn: Ignite is her P@D debut! Once Again is a liquid drum and bass track with some atmospheric and haunting vibes along with the vocal talents of Synthis, who really makes this piece come to life. The soft synth sounds and effects on Synth’s voice stick out, adding to the song’s melancholy nature. In addition to Ignite, this will also be featured on her upcoming album Fragile Heart!

Koron Korak – Rise and Fall (feat. Thöbe) | Drum & Bass

Koron’s new collab with Thöbe is a foray in sharper synths resulting from tasteful inspirations, and the gorgeous vocals are definitely empowering the track! I’m especially a fan of the added melodic Flutterchops and the effect on them, so cool and creative!

[P@D] GrazySmash – Damodaraya | PsyTrance

Ready for some psychedelic vibes? Track 17 from Ponies at Dawn: Ignite is Damodarya, a Psytrance song from GrazySmash, the first of his three submissions to the album. There’s an entrancing vocal sample that makes for the hook of the song, which takes influence from world music and Goa trance, a la the likes of Juno Reactor. Makes you really want to dance, doesn’t it?
