Musicians newer in the fandom have something veterans more often lack: the ability to surprise us. Ampderg just gave us a real banger here. The song consists of pop sections that clash with exulting hard-hitting drops. The pop parts are very dancy and in particular the bassline is highly catchy. Twilight vocal chops are found throughout the song and the vocals and lyrics from Ampderg are a delight too. The Vylet Pony inspiration is palpable in most aspects of the song. The beautiful artwork and the video are by Ampderg as well and constitute integrant parts of the piece.
Tw3Lv3 – Zer0 | Lo-Fi
More lo-fi goodness from Tw3Lv3! Zer0 has a slow, nostalgic feeling to it, implied by the Delta Vee’s Junkyard image in the video. The bell chords and slow bass really add to that feeling, especially in the short breakdown when the bells have a reversed fade-in. Simplicity can often be beautiful.
SP1TF1R3 – The Sphinx Awakens – Hybrid Trap
We hear so much about Somnambila’s tale with her encounter with the Sphinx. But does anyone just focus on the Sphinx itself? You’re in luck. I give you SP1TF1R3, This track has more of the focus on how evil and nasty the Sphinx is. The melodies here are a mix of some Egyptians themes with some strong synthing of dramatic melodies to create tension of dealing with this evil presence. Its a real shame that this track did not make it on P@D. It really does create an image of dealing with this monster first hand. Presentation is wonderful here. Keep working hard and working to get better good sir. As always this Qilin asks you to judge for yourself.
(P.S: for those that what wonder why I end my articles with that. I am encouraging you the reader to listen to the track and think for yourself, Don’t take my word for it as reading rainbow would say)
Royalpony – Never Alone | HardStyle
I still have a lot to learn about who makes music still in this fandom. Its rich history of musicians. I just learned that about Royalpony. This being my first time hearing his content. I’ve learned he’s been around since 2014-15. Well better late than never because this track was a great intro into his style of EDM. Never Alone is a haunting track with very grim melodies about being so isolated in times like now. Dealing with the pandemic we all face today. The theme has the emotional feeling of being scared, alone and unsure. When it kicks into the hardstyle it reminds us that like Fluttershy, we are never alone. That this fandom can count on each other. It is strangely a proper track for the timing of its release. Do you feel the same? As always. This Qilin asks you to judge for yourself.
Mr. Sunset – Fluffy Chocolate Bunnies | Synthwave
Since Easter’s on the way, how about some chocolate? Exclusive to the ASOS channel is Fluffy Chocolate Bunnies, a calming synthwave piece. Mr. Sunset (also known as Insane Domi) makes his ASOS debut with an amazing first impression, utilizing soft synths and warm melodies straight from the 80s and wrapped in modern, cozy blanket. Yos!
Quicksilver – Not The Same | Hardcore Punk
Quicksilver charges back onto the scene with his first solo song in nearly a year, Not The Same! Just under a minute in length, this story about Moondancer takes off at full blast and doesn’t let up until the end. He sings with raw power and conviction in front of a heavy punk instrumental with elements of ska thrown in for a nice change of pace. Pony punk is always a treat!
Jessica Vaughn, Jess Furman & John Jennings Boyd – Cheer You On (Ice Angel Remix) | Dubstep
Beautiful synths and vocal chops galore with Ice Angel’s remix of the EQG track Cheer You On! All three chops have their own unique flare of EDM goodness and the original vocals fit perfectly with the new track. Makes me want to cheer Ice Angel on!
Daniel Ingram – Welcome To The Show (Closer) (Whirly Tail Remix) | Happy Hardcore
Welcome to the show is simply one of the most beloved songs of The Equestria Girls side of MLP. It’s one of those songs that is in many of the fandom opinions. That came out in 2014-2015. The years some of Mr Ingrams best work released . It’s a song that really drives in the message of unity and friendship. Whirly Tail has taken it on himself to put his brand of hyper insanity into this remix. MY CELESTIA! Did he just inject something powerful into this song. It builds and drops over and over again. He took one of the most powerful moments of the movie, and revs up the bass and put his foot on the gas and JUST GOES!!!!. The main melody of the song is soo epic and high energy that you are jumping up and down cheering for mane 6 and sunset to KEEP GOING AND WIN!. The composition with mr ingrams melody just makes you feel so emotional with the song’s message but you want to mosh with your friends until you got nothing left. This track just hits with nitro and just goes so hard and is just so sweet. It’s really no shock that Whirly is talented with his work. He just made it on his very first appearance on the upcoming P@D: Ignite album, collabing with none other than John Kenza!. As always this Qilin asks you to judge for yourself.
StableTwoStallion & Koron Korak – Twi and Rares do a Jam | Industrial Metal
This collab has a unique approach, as you’ll need to watch this with two videos playing at the same time! Twi and Rares do a Jam depicts a scenario where they’re set to perform on stage, with their voices provided by 15.ai. Once they’re done talking, a short but heavy instrumental plays, showing off Stable‘s signature metal style with some electronic additions from Koron Korak. Even as a light-hearted April Fools day gag, it sounds pretty great!
Jyc Row – Equestria Assemble | Orchestral
Equestria, assemble! Jyc Row’s first track of the year is Equestria Assemble, a hefty orchestral piece inspired by the Avengers. Based on the S9 finale, the song jumps straight into the powerful side of things without letting up, signifying the combined forces of Equestria coming together to stop the evil reigns of Tartarus’ most valued tyrants. An epic piece of imagery requires an equally epic sound to go along with it!
