Inspired by the game Helltaker, Zephysonas made his own crossover work seeing as one of the characters is pretty much a rule 63 version of Discord! Even if you haven’t played the game, you’ll appreciate how this distinct musical style is depicting chaos in such a unique and refined way, and even an artwork of Discord in the visual style of Helltaker is here as the cover art to add to the immersion!
I so love it when spontaneous ideas turn into something amazing, and here One Track Mind put that thought explained in the description in musical form and actually made that little story happen with the help of Dashie vocal samples! The instrumental is so creative and mind-blowing over the course of its progression in pure One Track Mind style, and this fun little treat is very appreciated!
Ready for some Pinkie-inspired craziness? Hyperactive is brambleshadow4’s latest outing, and it feels like a journey inside Pinkie’s erratic and unpredictable mind. The track starts off with a fast chiptune arpeggio which gradually speeds up as the drums join in. The main melody remains catchy and speedy and doesn’t let up until the end; honestly, it gives me Touhou vibes! After almost 5 months of being left in the shadows, it’s nice to see such a fast piece get put out!
An early preview of the upcoming ASOS: Brownie album. We have a high dose of energy for you all. Energy that brings you back to the days of playing racing games with your friends in on an weekend! But now rev this up with a taste of Equestria! This also brings into the play the genre known as Complextro a subgenre of electro house. This with the taste of chiptune. You have classic vibe racing on an epic race track with everything on the line, with some pony magic. Special appearance by Tom!. You’ll know it when you hear it in the mix of pony chops. As always this Qilin asks you to judge for yourself.
We’ve got a huge banger here. The track doesn’t sound like it at first, and we may wonder how Tw3Lv3’s style and MrMehster’s will mesh together as they have few similarities. After the creative intro using hilarious voice clips, we are introduced to some super catchy 8-bit arps that will make up the main melody. Only then are we hit with the hardstyle part of the track. Watch out for your necks as this will get you headbanging hard for sure. During the second half the amen break like drum section has been played live and recorded by Tw3Lv3 himself. All in all, as they say, wow, this sure is no party breath. This is available alongside many other sick tunes on Equinity 02: Catalyst.
Introduce yourself to the Macarony’s new chiptune track with a flamboyant and sparkling intro made of synth brass. After an upbeat pixelated bridge, succumb to the creamy interlude, which builds you up to its chorus of vocal chops over even more brassy chords. Be guided through this frenzied chiptune piece with its action-signaling tom-tom fills! Stay for the last few bars and you’ll find an even wider chorus of vocals over even thicker synth brasses, ending the song perfectly.
To our greatest delight, pony music veteran General Mumble crafted a new pony gem for Nightmare Night, and by the looks of the cover art you should already know what to expect! Old-school distorted Pinkie vocals are complementing the Chiptune melodies that we love to hear from the musician, as a new dark scene gets played in musical form! Such a lovely surprise! It’s definitely never too late for such treats!
The master of Dark Ambient in the community, Koron Korak presents his latest experiment in the dark, themed around “Lesson Zero” Twilight and acting as a personal follow-up to it too. Just like the kind of atmospheric bliss you’d hear in an horror game, the piece is featuring amazing sound design and even effect-powered vocals from Koron himself, enacting the story with those lyrics that you can read from the description. A masterpiece of ambience and dark atmospheres!
For this year’s Halloween Update of the fan game Pony Town, John explored a different path to spookiness and eeriness, with the classic “creepy amusement park” and “scary clowns” vibes! Once again the musician’s talent can be felt with their ability to nail such precise and distinct styles, and all while designing it as a BGM track!
In continuation to the previous installments in the album series, Versus and Versus II, Slitherkitty crafted more OC-themed and canon pony-themed tracks, designed as BGM for “versus” battles with all those characters! The Soundtrack inspiration is a delight to hear, and the tracks are quite creative with their progression, and calling back to melodic styles of OST tracks of the past too. With tracks dedicated to Alicorn Trixie, Cozy Glow, Tantabus as a last battle theme, and even Pinkie vocal chopping in the second track of the album, there’s definitely a whole lot to appreciate and explore! Who knows what you may find! Beware of Psycho Lyra and Fury Heart…
