[Equinity] TCB – ATELOPHOBIA 2020 | Future Dance

Atelophobia is the Fear of Imperfection or of things going wrong and also the fear of failure. It often manifests itself as a ‘perfectionist’ thinking style and can lead to a constant feeling of inadequacy or of not being ‘good enough’.

Are you ready for Equinity 03: Breach? How about an opening track that is such a powerful remake? How about an intense dive into Sweetie Belle’s psyche? TCB must have really done his homework here. Those psychological elements are at work in the weighty opening and the expression of emotional bitterness Sweetie feels toward her sister delivered with those harmonious tones. We dive right into her fears and turmoils with these grindy and murky melodies. The vocal chops fit right in with the timing and add to the despairing mood. The track then goes into a range of emotion as Princess Luna arrives to even the score and helps the young foal. Oh man, the use of the piano and cello with ripping beats really just pulls you into Sweetie Belle’s fear! TCB has made so many improvements to the original, especially with the ending that fits so well with what Luna did for Sweetie in “For Whom the Sweetie Belle Toils”. Sweetie Belle battles her fear and anger with that hard bass that TCB is known for, and there is even a nice touch of victorian era violin at the end! What an awesome way to open the album, which will drop on 08/03/2020!  As always, this Qilin asks you to judge for yourself!

DAϟH – HORSE BREACH – Gabber


Gabber (/ˈɡæbər/; Dutch: [ˈxɑbər]), also known as gabba, early hardcore or Rotterdam hardcore, is a style of electronic music and a subgenre of hardcore techno.

I didn’t know ponies had computers! This composition’s use of blaring bass and slam-bang melodies brings the track to red alert! A cocky pony cat burglar tries to breach a well-known Equestria bank system, but woah boy–she’s in trouble now! The track features some smooth use of vocal chops to add authenticity to the botched hack and ensuing escape attempt. The chaos just keeps getting better as the track goes on!

I would say that now is a better time than ever to discover what Dash and the folks over at Equestria Terror Corps are about. Gabber is such a fun genre to listen to, and for those who have never heard it, this track is a great intro to it. It’s a shame it didn’t make Equinity 03, but Dash is still making Noise for the growing Equestrian Terror Corps label! As always this Qilin asks you to judge for yourself.

Seven Ponies – Brought To Life | Drum & Bass

Seven Ponies makes an addition to the ever-thriving pony drum & bass scene after five years of inactivity. Inspired by the fanfiction An Affliction of the Heart, this song takes you to a realm of upbeat melodies and soothing chords, almost reminiscent of house. The light of the song contrasts with the strife conveyed by Plainoasis’ gorgeous artwork, but they have in common that their protagonists strive for solace. Keep an eye out for their track on the forthcoming A State of Sugar: Chocolate album!

eksoka – Troposphere (Album Release) | Chillstep

Every track from eksoka is a journey, it was only befitting for them to release an album centered around that theme. It contains most of eksoka’s music that was released in the past three years including three A State of Sugar tracks, one from Ponies at Dawn and four exclusive new tracks including Troposphere which they chose to use as announcement of the album’s release. It begins with some fantastic plucks, then the synths and the fascinating percussion synergize beautifully. The abundance of interesting sounds forms a diverse yet cohesive whole and the progressions and ethereal pads feel like a journey, a journey through the troposphere.

Daniel Ingram – Living in Color (Lavender Remix) | Drum & Bass

Lavender outdoing herself is a dizzying thought considering how good her music is, but she might very well have done it with this remix. The original being mostly vocals, it is well suited for remixing, and the drum and bass producer, fandom veteran Lavender Harmony, took advantage of this outstandingly well. This colorful remix filled to the brim with positive vibes was over one year in the making, and it shows through the spotless mix and the expertly crafted instrumentation. Overall, it sounds quite frankly genuinely better than most tracks featured on mainstream labels. From the exhilarating brassy lead to the intoxicating drums, the union of all the elements makes it incredibly difficult to see how this song could be any closer to perfection. The remix feels like a tribute to the vibrant colors of the community and is definitely a song posterity will remember. Take it away, Drake.

Canatime thanks for welcoming me here. Leave it to Lavender to put on a show with her work, This remix is so supercharged with high impact positive vibes. Those insane drum beats and the wonderful transitions of color in the video with the pounding bass. Oh my, and the harmonization of Twilight and her friends’ vocals is so fluid with Lavender’s melodies and that HYPER pounding beat in the positive highs of the track, GOODNESS! Dear me, it’s getting hot in here…

Track 33 from Ponies at Dawn: Ignite is Fluffy Marshmallows, a collab between BlackIceMusic, Chasing Dawn and Lennon Black! This bouncy song features great callbacks to Mantlegen’s Dirty Gem, even going as far as to use some of the same samples! Dawn delivers a smooth set of bars about Rarity’s… softness… all while the beat bounces with its catchy synth riffs and rumbly basslines. Think Rarity would dance to this one?

AC-527 aka DnBeanie just returned into pony music action and that’s such wonderful news!! Check out the rest of their channel to catch up with all of their past contributions to the community if you haven’t already. This new song is definitely very Equestrian with all the cute vibes, and if this heralds new regular releases from the musician then this calls for a party!

SmD House – Irreversibility | Orchestral / Chillout

SmD House’s newest release has their signature style written all over it! The intriguing and dark vibes are fitting the depth of the artwork used in the video so well, and we could feel like we’re diving in that scene through the power of music! And the organ at the end is a very emotional touch that I appreciate a lot!

BVYANX – Magic | Dubstep

Ah it’s always fun when I hear what some fresh faces with talents have to offer in the modern brony music community! BVYANX here rolls out a showcase of experimentation in Bass, Sounders and wavy synthesis! Using our beloved big brain book horse as a conduit. There is a nice degree of magical synthetics and riffs to represent Twilight playing around with electronic music along with the deep bass and hard synths with a mythical sounding melodies mixed in with the hard beats of Dubstep. Not too bad. I always enjoy a musician taking what a character represents and makes a story out of it through music. This was enjoyable. As always, this Qilin asks you to judge for yourself

[NSN] Soundnix x AJ Young – Biohazard | Dubstep

 

-Ominous: indicating the nature of a future event, for good or evil; having the significance of an omen; being a portent.

Boy, that definition is the nature of the tag team of Soundnix and AJ Young. The calm before the storm with that atmospheric build up is simply breathtaking. And then it’s ground zero as that heavy bass drops! Those dangerous wubby and zingy riffs make you head for the hills! This track wonderfully tells the tale of the ponies in Equestria dealing with a pandemic much like we are now. While still chaotic and atmospheric, this fusion of dubstep and orchestra elements is fluid in its combination! Listen to chaos at its best musically for NSN Vol 3: Black Stable!
