Thrasher – false_code | Album | Metal / Electronic

You can always count on Thrasher to deliver intense excellence, and here they have created an entire album’s worth of awesome, hard-charging music based around a fantastic concept! A hacker is trying to save society from the malicious clutches of the “desync reality”, a virtual world that promises salvation but instead exploits its inhabitants. The album follows the unnamed protagonist’s progress by delivering song after song of inventive and merciless metal encapsulated in finely crafted tracks that meld fierce guitars and traditional metal arrangements with electronic components through dynamic progressions. It fits the theme perfectly, and I hope that you enjoy it as much as I did. I’ll give a rundown of the songs next, so please join me below the break if you care to. Nymund9 – Being a Princess | Electro

Nymund9 give us this phenomenal song that imagines the events before the new MLP Movie, it relates the thoughts, feelings and dreams of Zipp Storm, the princess of Zephir Heights. The song opens with some punchy kicks and a rough lead synth, you can feel all the frustration and emotional weight that comes with being a princess. After that introduction, we get a break, where we can only listen a piano and a small synth arp that builds a bit of tension, some vocal chops from the movie can be heard, and another arp makes its melody through the track, this time, in a higher pitch. Subsequently, the punchy drums and the rough lead make a come back, they return and mix with the other synths. The harmony of the song is incredible, the atmosphere transmits very well that tension of the feelings of the lyrics about Zipp and her questions, her role in society, and that desire to live in a better way, without the need to lie to the ponies. Please hear this truly marvelous tune and give some support to Nymund9!

Maddie Tourmaline – Princess Tiffany | Progressive Rock 

This is an awesome concept realized with breathtaking execution! Noble disagreement simmers amongst a group of Pony princesses on a boring, beautiful summer day in Paradise. The shared designs of the budding royals are related over a dreamy soundscape of gentle acoustic instrumentation which is paced by calibrated percussion, accented by light ambience, and crowned by silky sweet vocals. The instrumentation choices are ridiculously fantastic throughout the song, and the little nudges and rumbles of bass throughout hint at lurking danger. The progression percolates impressively to life, especially at the antagonist’s entrance. The arrangement darkens, and synth melodies swirl and soar before the bass-heavy downfall of the kingdom. I hope that you enjoy this journey as much as I did–I would love a whole album of this fantastic musical storytelling!

BGM – Aeronautical (feat. RAInbow Dash) | Drum & Bass

This is a really wonderful tribute to Rainbow Dash! The gentle, ambient opening strings set the scene beautifully before we soar into the blue sky on an awesome percussive melody and fast-paced D&B percussion. Then the bassline kicks in along with electric guitar to get the pulse pounding before the vocals join the arrangement. The TalkNET vocals are awesome–it’s pretty magical hearing Rainbow Dash relate her own experience of soaring through the clouds, and the multiple vocal tracks and care put into their incorporation really makes it feel like she contributed to the production herself. As the blue pegasus challenges the listener to keep up, the production maintains a breezy but pulsing delivery perfect for slicing rainbows through the Equestrian air. Enjoy your flight!

WoodenToaster – Rainbow Factory (Pagan Pegasus Remix) | Dubstep

Pagan Pegasus, a relative newcomer to the music fandom, takes on a classic with this fantastic remix! The music box opening paired with background strings is a delightful choice for the subject matter, and the treatment of the vocals blends them perfectly into the dubstep arrangement. The bass is a real standout here, and the rhythmic thumps (especially in the verses) both give the impression of the rainbow factory’s machinery hard at work and acknowledge the grim reality of that machinery’s purpose. By the time the music drifts to a close you may just be glad that you weren’t born with wings.

Nyancat380 – Sixty Twenty Twelve (feat. SpinScissor) | Latin / Electronic

Nyancat380 continues building their “Methodic Ways to Break a Mind” album with this fantastic track! The song has an AMAZING groove thanks to its fusion of Latin instrumentation and EDM elements. It kicks off with the sounds of a crowded club before launching into a brisk beat and horns melody. Then it jumps into the main bass groove and the vocals (heck yeah for the awesome lyric video!), and all the accompanying percussion and effects build the arrangement beautifully. The call and response between the vocals and horns heading into the chorus really reinforces the awesome club vibe. Then a breakdown after the second verse pares the arrangement down to a bit of melody and spare percussion which sets up the eventual resumption of the vocals and horns beautifully. The “Cool AF Spin Scissor Solo!” (love the description) adds another dynamic element to the track, and Spin Scissor’s guitar supports the track to the end. The song is ridiculously groovy, dynamic, and polished, and I can’t wait for the rest of the album and pieces of the story! Bonus: there’s also an acapella version of the track if you want to get your remix on!

BGM – Cute Mare Song | Chiptune

BGM gives us this cute and adorable song full of wonders! The feelings conveyed by the track is a mixture of joy and motivation, and how could it be otherwise, the music video is accompanied by our cute mares, Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash. The retro yet refreshing style invites you to dance and have good vibes. This song will definitely brighten the day and you can’t help but smile a little bit. With nostalgic square waves blaring happily, a catchy melody, drums setting the pace, and fast-paced arpeggios, you can really imagine this being the soundtrack to an excellent video game. But above all, you cannot deny the genius of the piece, I already love this song, so what are you waiting for! Go and listen to this gorgeous tune.

Koron Korak – DJ Scales and Tail | Hardstyle

Are you ready for the best rave in all Ponyville? Well, our friend Koron Korak is bringing us this totally awesome hardstyle banger, featuring the one and only DJ Scales and Tail! (a.k.a Spike the Dragon). Together, they’re inviting us to dance and celebrate all night long! The track starts with a punchy distorted kick that hits you right in the face, and some brutal vocal chops from tonight’s host. As the song progresses, an entire symphony of leads and synths come in to make the party even harder! The whole track will make you move and groove your pony body to the rapid rhythm of the beat. Although this song is a bit short, it’s a fantastic taste of what a pony rave should sound like. The only thing left to say is that this track is definitely SPIKED! (P.S. congrats for the 1k bro <3)

Violin Melody – So Many Wubs | Trance

Ok, who is ready for a colorful trip to the 90’s trance (with Ponies!)? In that case, prepare yourself for this cute and punchy song by Violin Melody. This track starts with a powerful kick and a very cool rhythm full of all kinds of percussion. From the beginning we can feel the whole vibe of this song–suddenly (as if the sky was opening) we can hear some cool vocal chops from our favorite pony, Fluttershy, accompanied by a cute arp as well. This song is full of nostalgic feelings, and I can easily imagine this song being played in a rave full of ponies and pegasi dancing together! After an energetic and gritty lead that makes a good contrast with the little arp, we get a little break, and it’s like the song is breathing before heading higher up in the sky. Then it releases an explosion of color with more vocal chops and a very inspiring and nostalgic chord progression. I’m doing my best, but I can’t fully describe the awesomeness of this song! Violin Melody always provides us with professional quality songs that resonate with our souls, and this one is no exception, so check it out! I’m sure you will find a pleasant surprise with this track!

SpinScissor – Every Year | Alternate Electronic / Breakcore

Who does not miss that unique style of the cool and old internet times? well, Inspired in the good glamour of SoGreatandPowerful’s PMVs, My best fella, SpinScissor delivered us this magnific and nostalgic track about the coolest pony in all of ponyville. You guessed it! Rainbow Dash. The track begins with some rhodes that for just a few moments, resemble the of so iconic main theme of the series, man, you know this gonna be epic. Then and suddenly, we hear some great vocal chops accompanied with cool and glitchy breaks and a gritty bassline. The whole track is a vibe, full with all kinds of wonders, some fresh piano chords and a truly beautiful message at the end from SpinScissor. Please, do not hesitate and listen to this 20% cooler song!
