Today we’ve got ourselves something a little bit different from SeriousDamir. “Army of The Moonlight” is a dark, interesting orchestral piece. The piece starts out with deep, dark strings giving a sense of dread. Soon those strings are joined by epic drums, and the song becomes a bit lighter but no less intense. A bit later on we get a complete change as a sinister choir joins the mix, and the song ramps up quite a bit and gets fuller which makes for a nice effect. Later on the choir stops and the song calms down again giving everything this lovely progression before the song calms even more down and a lot of the instruments leave with only the drums and dark strings remaining. After a while the rest of the arrangement is added back in before we end on a piano solo.
Orchestral
Frozen Night – Nymerion | Epic Orchestral
Frozen Night’s new release, Nymerion, brims with the promise of heroic adventures that are sure to ignite the inner hero in us all! Nymerion is the first track to be released from Frozen Night’s upcoming album, Time’s Arrow, which will have its own novel like story and will serve as a prequel to his previous album, Thorn of the Frozen Star. In this story, Nymerion is the capital city of a land of dragons, and the oriental sound design in this piece perfectly fits this concept. A gentle melody flows like epic wind throughout the piece. Peaceful woodwinds backed by majestic strings and choirs create a truly awe-inspiring mood. Seamless transitions between minor and major chords create a sense of a peaceful time gone by, while still hinting at conflict to come. If this is only the first taste of the new album, then we can expect great things to come, and be sure to follow along with the story, as well!
Whirlwind – Thank You | Piano Solo
This right here is just precious, done by my friend Whirlwind in honor of the day he found this show and this fandom. My word, what a lovely piece of music. Just close your eyes and think about how this show and fandom have shaped you. Whirlwind and myself talk about music all the time, and I gotta tell you, when he says this show changed him for the better, it shows in these sweet, friendship filled piano notes with a hint of the sunshine and birds chirping. You can’t help but picture you and your friends at a pony con, at a meetup or in a Discord server just talking about the characters that have meant so much to us all. Have a listen and take in Whirlwind’s joy, and as always, this Qilin asks you to judge for yourself.
Kallo Skull – Soul Reflection | Orchestral / Soundtrack
Paying tribute to both the divine composer Nobuo Uematsu and the story behind that artwork by Yakovlev-vad, the passionate Kallo Skull crafted a new 8-minutes masterpiece, and his own To Zanarkand. Emotional melodies and a delicate progression made with love are here to take you into a dimensional vortex while telling you “This is your story.”
RedSpark – Winter Dream | Epic Orchestral
He is back everypony, and sweet Celestia, his return is sweeter than ever! After a period of silence RedSpark returns and brings us yet another of his amazing epic orchestral pieces. The piece starts out with the slow and calming sounds of a harp, accompanied by a beautiful piano; soon strings take over and we get a part where the song is silent only interrupted by the occasional up and down of the strings until the strings are joined by other instruments giving the whole piece this regal vibe. After that we are treated to a slight change of theme as the strings take over once more and give this deeper, epic vibe which is soon supported by several horns and trumpets, once more giving off this regal sound which is ultimately filled out even more by additional strings to an effect that I cannot even describe. Later on most instruments leave us again only to return in a darker, more intense variant with drums and everything. Here the intensity of the strings is accompanied by the lighter sounds of trumpets, making for a fascinating dynamic. A bit later some strings also join the brass instruments until this battle of the darker sounds and the happy upbeat ones eclipses in a beautiful harmony, again fulfilled as can be and indescribably stunning. The piece ends on a beautiful piano solo.

Thunder Dash – The Zebra’s Domain | Electronic Orchestra
Ok, let me tell you, this is only the second Thunder Dash piece I have heard, and my word, this musician has my attention. You’ve got to have something special to tell a story this deep and emotional in just over 8 minutes. I love it when bronies, especially musicians, get so creative! In this piece Thunder Dash uses a full tool list of melodies and harmonies to tell the story of the Zebras, their homeland, how they live, and their beliefs and culture. Thunder Dash says it better than I could in the video description, so I will for once focus on the music. The song is all about one thing–atmosphere! The track immerses you in its musical narrative, and you are pulled into its comparison of Zebra life with Equestrian pony life. You can feel the joy when those calling to the spirits are answered! It’s all told with a full arsenal of awesome musical storytelling, and Thunder Dash needs to be shown some love for this! As always, this Qilin asks you to judge for yourself.
MC-Arch – You got me, I got us II: Our Brave New World! | Album | Multi-Genre / Audio Drama
BIG BIG BIG THANK YOU! to Blackened Blue for proofreading and editing this article, can’t not be more thankful my friend.
(If you have not checked out the first YGMIGU album, you can do that here. I strongly suggest it for story reasons)
(Continued below the break)
Toby Macarony – Autumn’s Stars | Alternative Electronic
Toby is at it again with their distinctive style and flare! This one is a surprisingly tranquil piece with a very soothing atmosphere, a groovy bassline and a plethora of wonderful instrumentation. Choirs? Pan flutes? Grungy breakbeats? This has it all and has an astounding dynamic range! I’ve always been a Kirin fan and I just have to say I don’t know how they do it. Making ethnic inspired melodies, groovy basses and choirs work together in harmony but once again Toby knocked it out of the park!
Thunder Dash – Celestia’s Anthem To The Sun | Pipe Organ Ballad
Now for something very different and pleasant. We don’t get a lot of classy musical scores that pay tribute to Celestia’s character, let alone a score done by a pipe organ! I am not going to lie. It is nice that her character is at last getting a song like this. Let’s put aside for a moment how she was used in the show and focus of her character. Celestia is everything we could want in an all-powerful character. She is wise, she is very beautiful, she is very nurturing and supportive, and she is very powerful with full control of her Alicorn magic! At her core however, she’s just a regular pony. She will talk, guide, and be supportive of anyone that she can help. She is somepony that, through just a conversation, can not only make you feel comforted, warm, and cozy, but also powerful, mighty, and ready for a fight if needed.
The score of this song along with the artwork (WOW!) speaks to these strengths and touches on how precious she really is to a lot of bronies, Thunder Dash has put together something that Celestia’s fans can really just listen to and smile. Just close your eyes and picture yourself in the room with Celestia in all her glory enjoying this song with all of her dear ponies that she loves so very much. As always this Qilin asks you to judge for yourself.
Thunder Dash – The Pianist vs The Unicorn | Piano Solo
Thunder Dash had such a wonderful idea for this song! It’s actually a piano battle between him and Trixie in Equestria, as you will be able to hear! The use of Trixie vocal samples is so lovely, and initiatives like these should be made more often! Simple, yet so important!
