Nicolas Dominique – Flickering Fire | House
Nicolas Dominique is no stranger to making tunes to chill out to, but this lovely track just might keep you warm instead! “Flickering Fire” truly lives up to its own name, filled with lush synths, crackling percussion, and plucky melodic lines that dance like sparks – a perfect listen during the remaining days of cool weather.
General Mumble – Ponys2mp | Electro
There was a Ponystomp, now there’s a Ponys2mp. It’s pretty self-explanatory.
Rubber – Hoodlums Ft. Versal, Blitzy, Kozzy (Prod. DJ Nu-Mark) | Hip-Hop
Big brony rap collabs like this are always a treat to listen to! Backed up by a classic 00s-style beat, Rubber, Versal, Blitzy and Kozzy assert their status as the kids you don’t want to mess with. Their flow is on point, and they each bring their own vocal style to the table while sounding great in combination together.
lunar_amity & Seyden – Friendship Was Magic pt. 1 (Desperation) | Metal
You all knew this was coming at some point. You know, musicians putting their talents towards the big mystery of what happened between generations? We drive right into the head of Big Alicorn bookhorse, emotionally broken and her back to the wall. Holy Celestia, does this aggressive string of guitars and drums bring down this feeling of desperation and despair! Seyden’s vocals and screams rip through this track, grabbing at your dang soul to help poor twilight cope with the loss of her friends and unsure of how to move forward with her rule of Equestria. Could this be the very point where the magic in Equestria started to fade? An incredibly haunting guitar solo tops this track off courtesy of Biscuit! Brony metal goodness at your delight, my friends!
SpinScissor – no mates | Outsider House
SpinScissor is no stranger to experimentation an he is back with a minimalistic and spacey house track. ‘no mates’ is adorned with an array of different sound samples from conversations to ringing phones and detuned synths, coupled with a snappy bassline. It exudes a lo-fi aesthetic in its production and its visuals. A tale of the turbulence of life and past friendships and hopeful lasting friendships, this one is an interesting listen for sure!
RE:MAKE – ELEMENTS | Rock
Many years ago, long before the herald existed, two guys called Edd and Jimmy formed a band called AcousticBrony. They created a series of themes for the Mane 6 which gained legendary status among the fandom, but it was incomplete; only 4 of the 6 themes were released! As time went by and AcousticBrony became RE:MAKE, it appeared the full set would never be complete…until now.
It’s incredibly refreshing, not just to hear the final 2 songs in the Elements series, but the whole set re-worked and re-recorded, with new life brought to all the existing tracks. The entire album was produced by PrinceWhateverer, so Generosity, Laughter, Kindness and particularly Loyalty (which is now over 10 years old!) now sound better than ever!
As for the two brand new songs, the fit perfectly alongside the original four and it’s clear that RE:MAKE’s songwriting has only improved over the years. Honesty sets a record for the fastest song on the album (sorry Dash) and, of course, has some fantastic banjo courtesty of DivinumX. And much like the album’s namesake, Magic unites the others, making callbacks to the motifs of all six song in the series.
ELEMENTS is available to purchase on Bandcamp or stream on various services.
Koron Korak – A Moment Of Peace [Chillout]
Koron has taken a more chilled out route than a lot of his other recent music with this track. Featuring gentle percussion and some bright synth design, the Zouk-influenced moombah beat is built on top of with plenty of nice composition throughout. The piano and woodwind-style instrumentation is definitely a highlight.
MathematicPony – Inspiration | Pop
Did you know that Rarity’s element of harmony was originally planned to be Inspiration instead of generosity? MathematicPony knows that, and created a vibe that only she could imagine! With a quick-running synth playing throughout, Math brings out the anxiety of work and pressure to meet personal goals and standards as the instrument persists in the background of the song. A contemporary pop mix sets the stage for passionate vocals telling the relatable message of a pony working hard and staying up late to complete important projects; dealing with the existential wonder of inspiration, aspiration, and legacy.
Tw3Lv3 – Aura | Electronic
Tw3Lv3 has been prolific with her releases over the last few years, with plenty of wonderful album experiences and collaborations to her name, with plenty more sure to come. The culmination of some of that work is on show here in her latest offering, Aura. Featuring 14 different tracks, two of which were initially released as part of P@D’s last compilation album, there’s a lovely mixture of solo and collaborative work, and some cool album art from BL1NKY as well. With plenty to vibe to from d&b rollers to more future bass-oriented dance tunes, there’s also the helping of chill you’d expect from Tw3Lv3 too.
