[P@D] Jyc Row & PrinceWhateverer – Together, Against the Sisters | Symphonic Metal
This might be one of the best orchestral metal songs the fandom may ever see. Track 6 on the freshly-released Ponies at Dawn: Ignite is Together, Against the Sisters, a collaboration between Jyc Row and PrinceWhateverer along with Spanish singer Celica Soldream, and the result is insane. Lyrically, the song paints a picture of a battle between an army and the evils that lurk Equestria through Daybreaker and Nightmare Moon. PW and Celica’s harmonies go very well together, perfectly complimenting the optimistic melodies brought by the heavy guitars and brooding strings. That solo, though!
Koron Korak – Face Your Fate (feat. Twilight Sparkle) | Synth Rock
Koron Korak’s back with a brand new song based around the season 4 finale. Face Your Fate takes its inspiration from synthwave tracks while adding distorted guitars to give it some edge. The occasional audio sample from the episode can be heard as a decent callback to the episode that inspired it. Glad to hear how amazing this turned out after a year in the making!
StableTwoStallion – Fallout Equestria | Industrial Gothic Metal
Woah. Brace yourself! This FoE-inspired thrash track is heavy and hits hard! STS has been pumping out industrial tracks for years and is no stranger to going heavy with the powerful distorted guitars, thumpin’ drums, and eerie vocal chants in the background. StableTwoStallion explains that Fallout Equestria is “inspired by Rammstein and Oomph” and lead vocals reflect that comparison in every good way! As an added bonus – this song is entirely in German which personally just makes it all the more epic!
Luna Ticks – Gamer Girl [Horses IRL #7] | Ska Punk
The power team of Francis Vace and Quicksilver are back at it again with a great punk track all about Equestria’s best gamer princess. The Luna Ticks are known for making the highest quality ska punk music in the fandom and Gamer Girl mixes in a great blend of ska sections with straight pop punk and even a slower interlude. The changing styles allows a great emotional transition from the energetic gaming, to the playful personality, to the sentimental, titular character. The video editing is excellent, allowing the personalities of both members to shine through. Do yourself a favor and check out these guys immediately.
Studio Quinn – Second Place, A Trixie Song (feat. Sea Cream) | Pop Rock
Studio Quinn (previously known as M2the3rd) keeps delivering heartfelt songs, this one being about Trixie and those who don’t always come out on top. The lyrics are from a poem by Sea Cream and the instrumental Studio Quinn created for them could not be more fitting. The sweet piano playing impresses strong emotions and is later joined by drums and strings in the second chorus. A guitar even makes an appearance in the last quarter of the song. Carried by the delicate singing are the same feelings of being overshadowed by peers.
MelodyBrony – Moonlight | Acoustic Rock
This track portrays Season 7, 8, and 9’s love story arc of Big Mac and Sugar Belle, with uplifting music that really fits with the theme, including acoustic guitar, incredible lyrics and vocals, and a drum beat that both reflect the whole feel of the story, and that can get stuck in your head! Seriously, this song could easily pass for an actual show song!
Acouste Wholenote – Stop The Clocks | Alternative Rock
Time seems to slow down when you’re in love, as Stop the Clocks has demonstrated. This soft yet powerful rock track about Lyra and BonBon has plenty of heart in the vocals and guitar, blending acoustic and soft electrics together with finesse. Those loving lyrics will never leave your head!
4everfreebrony – Friends Up Above | Blues Rock
4everfreebrony turns up the feels with this ponification of Brothers In Arms by Dire Straits. Using the all-too familiar theme of Twilight coping with the loss of her friends before her, he sings softly yet with such conviction, backed by an emotional set of pianos and keyboards while practically having a duet with the lead guitar. This also marks the release of his latest album Poni, consisting of ponified versions of popular songs!
Blackened Blue – Falling Away | Metal
More pony metal sure thing! Blackened Blue is back with his 2nd single off his EP,in which you can listen to and read my article here. Has anyone ever tried to make a Metal track about Rarity of all ponies? It hasn’t happened much until now. Falling Away is a throwback to thelate 90’s Thrash and Nu Metal scenes where bands were trying different things and styles. The take very much reminds me of bands like Trust Company. As I said in my article for the EP. This song is about Rarity being trapped in her workaholic ways with very little time for even a trip to get her hooves done or have a girls day out with the other mane 6 when the world is not about to end!. Her frustrations told through blacknend vocals, her emotions through the power of metal!. It’s such a creative take on Rarity that we all can relate too. This mare works too hard. As always this Qilin asks you to judge for yourself.
