Sound Bandit – Pink Horse (feat. Nexgen & AnimatronicPony) | HyperPop

Oh, it’s Sound Bandit back with another DustCar entry, this time to the theme of Luster Dawn with brony hip hop vet Nexgen and even AnimatronicPony getting into the fun. The lyrics are random as Pinkie Pie herself, like she’s trying to decide where she’s going to pop out and freak a pony out. There is some trash talking about some opinions about the show all with a strange video with heat vision of them at a mall video arcade. The beat and rhymes are fun and distorted, and Sound Bandit once again has made yet another catchy rap tune that this fandom will more than likely get behind. As always, this Qilin asks you to judge for yourself.

Radiarc – Reminisce | Orchestra

Long-time brony musician veteran Radiarc joins the party with another touching and pretty FiM 10th anniversary piece to add to the list of so many musicians releasing on this date. The message of this track plays on the mind. You are not what you once were when you entered this fandom. For me that is the real truth. This piece is just glorious with such soft piano, violin, and really nice choir vocals in the background. Clear your mind and think about your journey through this fandom and how those characters or the friends you’ve made in this fandom have changed you and help mold you. The melodies and harmonies of this piece will have you, for better or worse, looking back and smiling fondly at your journey to here. As always, this Qilin asks you to judge for yourself.

[ASoS] Night Blaze – Alicorn Commander | Orchestral

So, everypony, this is a song I actually wrote about in the All-Out Article about ASOS: Chocolate, which you can find here… But let’s not start rambling too much and get straight to the song!
The song starts out with strings and a drum but quickly adds other instruments, making it feel like battalions coming together on the battlefield to fight side by side against a dangerous enemy; you can hear the drums sound as the armies collide. The beat calms down a bit after the initial clash, but the other instruments add to the tension and signal more danger, and the piece builds again to its full might as the opposing armies collide once again. From there the piece keeps on rolling, never calming down, indicating a long and stressful battle until it suddenly stops. This track blew me off my feet when I first listened to it, and I gain additional appreciation for the epic beat and subtle shifts in the music every time I listen to it.

Red Spark – She Is the Night | Orchestral

Okay everypony, today we’ve got ourselves another Orchestral track from the talented Red Spark. Inspired by the artwork by Queen-KittyKat, this track is all about our favorite princess of the night. The song starts out with an amazing piano that immediately brings a sense of calm before the song hits you with some sweet strings that really give you the pleasant feeling of lying in your bed and looking at the stars. You feel relaxed because you know Luna is out there fighting against your nightmares. The piano and string combo is so epic I can only assume somepony has their dreams haunted by one of those Ursa Majors, and Luna has taken flight having saved the night again. The majestic strings then give way to just a piano accompanied by other instruments as the protector of dreams lays her head down to have some of her own.

Voltex Pixel – Assignments | Lo-fi

Oh, this is different! Voltex Pixel, putting out some Lo-Fi. Let’s do this! Oh, this track is so adorkable and so smooth, and you just can’t help but die from the artwork of Twilight Sparkle! The beat and melody sounds like a mix of smooth R&B with how the beat flows along with the vibing cool vocal chops in the background. Mixed in is the melody which is so cute and wondrous! You can say the Big Princess Twilight is looking back at her time as a student and smiling at the good times! Lo-Fi and Bookhorse! So relaxing! As always this Qilin asks you to judge for yourself.

[Equinity] Blackened Blue – Maybe (feat. MC-Arch) (Tw3Lv3 Remix) | Hip Hop

A remix of this track already! Well to be fair this single has been out for a bit. But when it comes to Equinity 03: Breach, it is always worth telling people about this amazing album. I wrote an article about the original track for ASOS: Brownie, and you can check that out here. Tw3Lv3, who has frankly been one of the musicians in this fandom that has been on fire most of this year, has yet again remixed a track and given it its own flavor. Blackened Blue’s beats and MC-Arch’s lyrics are now reinforced with a very slick hip hop beat that gives this track a satisfying thump. But wait and watch this video where Tw3Lv3 pops up–this dude can play guitar and play the drums! Talk about throwing the rock back into this track! What a treat. [P@D] RedSpark – Thestrals Approaching | Orchestral

Please note that the story elements presented in this article are not official and purely inspired by the artwork of the video.

Pack your saddlebags and hold on to your hats everypony! We’re going on an adventure with this stunning orchestral piece by RedSpark! With an amazing flute accompanied by a lovely cello, this song starts out by hammering home the adventure theme. As the drums join in you leave your village behind and follow Princess Luna along the paths of the Everfree Forest. Horns come in as you reach the peak of a mountain and view the whole forest in all its glory, but there’s still a long way ahead. As the piece gets darker you feel as if you’re being followed, and every fiber of your being is concentrated on watching out for danger to the Princess. As the song grows lighter you finally relax and focus entirely on admiring the beautiful nature all around you. However as the drums return once more you free your gaze from the scenery and return to your military stance to protect Luna and trot onward. The strings create a stunning build up as you near your destination, and you can’t help but admire the natural wonders one more time as you near the clearing to which you’ve seen your friends escort the Princess to for weeks now. Everything goes silent as you break through the bushes, and then, as the orchestra returns with all its power, you see it: The castle of the two sisters, once a ruin, now fully restored to its former glory. You are let inside and are surprised by the intricate details in the castle’s construction. As the song ends you sit down in a chair and realize that the journey you made was worth it all along.

Toby Macarony – Accursed Magic | Alternate Electronic

Welcome to the party! Don’t worry–I’m sure that Pinkie’s friends were already like that when she found them. Finally, someone has addressed the need for more “dark western trap” (frankly a criminally underrepresented genre)! What’s great about this track (apart from being perfect for making your friends and family worry about your music listening habits) is how it takes elements found elsewhere on the “Shenanigans Two” album and twists them to serve its unsettling narrative. Choirs, synths, and distortion used to evoke wonder or adventure on other tracks create a foreboding atmosphere. The guitar that was a hero on “Chiptune Train” plays its last, tortured notes before never being heard from again. The grooving bass line, introduced after the instrumental opening, pairs with dark chimes to create a twisted music box melody. When joined by the guitar and ominous harmonica, it creates an amazing effect, completing Toby Macarony’s latest masterful layering of unlikely accompanying elements. The song jangles, rattles, and scratches its way to its dark conclusion as the light fades along with your hopes of escaping a terrible fate. All of this works amazingly well with the video, which in turn burns, wavers, and pulses to the music to great effect. To borrow from another Toby Macarony album title, this is grim, dark, and groovy stuff.

[Equinity] Night Blaze – Moontown | Orchestral

When we reviewed Equinity 03: Breach, we said there were so many really good and different tracks. This is one of them. After a few listens I realized this track went way under the radar; knowing what this track is about now, it’s fantastic. The theme is all about Night Blaze’s theory on the origins of the bat ponies and how this song can be is just fascinating!  Them living and building a kingdom on the moon with the help of Princess Luna and learning to live their lives with night dragons… Just wow! (Not going to give everything away, the story is in the video description.) This track paints that picture of the kingdom of bat ponies with elements used like the piano, orchestral horns, violins and basses. Some awesome electronic harmonics are sprinkled in too to give this wondrous feeling of a thriving kingdom much like Equestria, (does this hint that Luna wasn’t evil; why as Nightmare Moon in her banishment?) and there is even a pretty epic guitar used with the score, and through this track you hear the bat ponies singing out in harmony as they are thankful for the help of the princess of the night. This is an amazing track that gives any fan of the bat ponies some joy, but the song however doesn’t explain why bat ponies have an addiction to mangos however, LOL. As always, this Qilin asks you to judge for yourself.
