Tw3Lv3 – One Small Thing (feat. Drummershy, Koa & MC-Arch) (Nicolas Dominique Remix) | Trance

So, everypony, today we have a remix of what might be the best “ASOS: Chocolate” track, “One Small Thing”, and who better to remix an already great song into something that may be even greater than Nicolas Dominique? The song starts out with Koa’s amazing vocals muffled behind a calming beat, and the vocals get louder and clearer as the beat builds up. Then the vocals stop and we are able to fully appreciate the awesomeness of the beat before Koa’s voice comes back in and the beat takes a back seat and becomes more drum heavy to support the lyrics. The beat then takes over once more showing how well it stands on its own. As the chorus sets in the beat ramps up to awesomeness levels way beyond 20% cooler, and as the song builds up to Arch’s rap the beat stands on its own supported by a loop of Koa’s amazing singing. As Arch starts rapping the beat again becomes more drum heavy to support the expertly delivered lyrics, and it stays that way as Koa takes over once more. The song ends on a slightly different version of the beat for a worthy send off.

[P@D] GrazySmash & MEQA – Hoof Shaker (MEQA VIP) | Drum & Bass

Another Hoof Shaker remix, this time as a part of Ponies At Dawn: Eclipse. In particular, it’s a VIP made by MEQA. While the original was a bouncy, hard-hitting banger, this rendition makes things more atmospheric and speedy. After a warbling intro with guitar harmonics in the background, things build up with a low, rumbling bass and metallic percussion, leading into a heavy, distorted drop that doesn’t back down. Different sounds for different moods!

Daniel Ingram – Midnight In Me (GeekBrony Remix) | Psytrance

Ready for 8 minutes of fun with Midnight Sparkle? I’ve said time and again that all the vocal performers you hear in G4 have voices that would work so well in EDM, and this track – a remix of Midnight in Me from Legend of Everfree is yet another shining example of it. As the song starts, there’s some light electronic elements that slowly become overshadowed by the voice of Twilight and some strong orchestral drum hits. Her voice absolutely soars over the instrumental for a while before the electronica takes over again. It slowly evolves into something psychedelic and fast-paced that’ll stick in your head for a while. Check out the last couple of minutes for that amazing rhythm change!

GrazySmash & MEQA – Hoof Shaker (Butterflight Remix) | Future House

A first attempt at future house from Butterflight with their remix of Hoof Shaker, originally by GrazySmash and MEQA! This track basically starts with a buildup that quickly leads into a drop, which sounds fantabulous. The main melody’s generated with what sounds like detuned piano reminiscent of 90s house, which occasionally changes up a bit throughout the song. It’s bouncy and features the perfect tempo. Not bad for a song made in under 24 hours!

Daniel Ingram – The Magic of Friendship Grows (Koron Korak Remix) | Electro

Koron Korak is back with a remix of the wonderful song from the series finale! Its got a wonderful rolling progression with the perfect atmosphere to set the mood! The snappy drums and the mixture of string and strong synth leads is a very welcome combo that I’d love to see more of! Every remix I’ve heard of this song is always a treat for me and this one is no exception!

Sawtooth Waves – To The Skies (feat. Chi-Chi) (Algo at All Remix) | Complextro

There are few emotions as elusive as a passive bliss. There are few emotions as elusive as the emotion derived from listening to songs like Algo at All’s remix of To The Skies by Sawtooth Waves. Algo excites the laid-back sentiment of the original song by Sawtooth Waves with a complextro structure, jazzy chords, and basses. With this change, the vocals of the original are more hopeful. This elated remix ends quite grandly with amplified vocal chops and sine flutes.

Daniel Ingram – Open Up Your Eyes (Brilliant Venture Remix) (feat. Koa) | Dubstep

What a PERFECTLY timed release from Brilliant Venture! I remember hearing whispers about something like this in the works, but I was BLOWN AWAY by this one! The classic Brilliant Venture dubstep sound is joined by the absolutely gorgeous vocal work of Koa, who does a fantastic job of performing what sounds to be an extended version of Open Up Your Eyes! The extended lyrics are written by Venture, and do a wonderful job of expanding on the anger and despair felt by Tempest regarding her past. A brilliant (wink wink) performance by two amazing artists, definitely worth a listen (or two! or four!!)

Glaze – Beyond Her Garden (Songbird Choir Remix) | Hybrid Orchestral

(You can listen to the classic right here!)

Woah, talk about a brony classic getting an overhaul in this remix by Songbird Choir! Oh, Glaze’s classic vocals and that catchy chorus that sounds like it is inspired by Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal” is now intertwined with some pretty orchestra elements that really make this remix so fun and dance happy. Music like this is all a part of what they do over in the Dustcar group, which gives musicians a theme for which they have a limited time to make and enter a song in that round of friendly competition. The melodies are delightful and the mixing and modding of the vocals is a sweet jiving sound for the ears! Catch this remix and have some fun, my bronies. As always, this Qilin asks you to judge for yourself.

[Equinity] Blackened Blue – Maybe (feat. MC-Arch) (Tw3Lv3 Remix) | Hip Hop

A remix of this track already! Well to be fair this single has been out for a bit. But when it comes to Equinity 03: Breach, it is always worth telling people about this amazing album. I wrote an article about the original track for ASOS: Brownie, and you can check that out here. Tw3Lv3, who has frankly been one of the musicians in this fandom that has been on fire most of this year, has yet again remixed a track and given it its own flavor. Blackened Blue’s beats and MC-Arch’s lyrics are now reinforced with a very slick hip hop beat that gives this track a satisfying thump. But wait and watch this video where Tw3Lv3 pops up–this dude can play guitar and play the drums! Talk about throwing the rock back into this track! What a treat. As always this Qilin asks you to judge for yourself.

JayB & Giggly Maria – Rain (Whirly Tail Remix) | Happy Hardcore

Whirly Tail has done it again, taking an absolute classic and giving it a magnificent Hardcore spin, creating a remix that is both true to the original and a legitimate original take. If you haven’t listened to the JayB and Giggly Maria original version, then please check it out! It’s a masterpiece that creates an amazing, enveloping atmosphere, and there is such a wonderful harmony between the music and vocals. I wish that more producers cared about melding a song together like this. What Whirly Tail does so well in this remix is to add urgency to the song, and the more percussive nature of this version shifts the listener into the storm itself. The vocals are now disrupted by the rain drops, the melody is caught in the deluge, and the song’s drops and choruses surge with electricity. The singer’s wish for rain has been answered with a torrent, but it’s a welcome one, and there’s nothing to do but dance through it! As the song comes to a close and the storm recedes, you just might find yourself wishing for your own delightful downpour.
